2 Chronicles 31
1 When all this had ended, the Israelites in attendance went out to the cities of Judah and broke up the sacred pillars, chopped down the Asherah poles, and tore down the high places and altars throughout Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the Israelites returned to their cities, each to his own property.
Quand tout cela fut terminé, tous les Israélites qui se trouvaient là s’en allèrent par les villes de Juda; ils brisèrent les statues, abattirent les Achêra, démolirent les hauts lieux et les autels dans tout Juda, Benjamin, Ephraïm et Manassé, jusqu’à complète destruction, et tous les enfants d’Israël s’en retournèrent chacun chez soi, dans leurs villes.
2 Hezekiah reestablished the divisions of the priests and Levites—each of them according to their duties as priests or Levites—for the burnt offerings and peace offerings, for ministry, for giving thanks, and for singing praises at the gates of the LORD’s dwelling.
Ezéchias établit les classes de prêtres et de Lévites selon leurs divisions, chacun selon son service, prêtres et Lévites, pour les holocaustes et les rémunératoires, pour faire le service, pour chanter des cantiques et des actions de grâces aux portes de la résidence de l’Eternel.
3 The king contributed from his own possessions for the regular morning and evening burnt offerings and for the burnt offerings on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, as written in the Law of the LORD.
Le roi fit don d’une part de ses biens pour les holocaustes, les holocaustes du matin et du soir, les holocaustes des sabbats, des néoménies et des fêtes, ainsi qu’il est écrit dans la loi de Moïse.
4 Moreover, he commanded the people living in Jerusalem to make a contribution for the priests and Levites so that they could devote themselves to the Law of the LORD.
Il dit au peuple, aux habitants de Jérusalem, de donner la part des prêtres et des Lévites, afin qu’ils tinssent ferme à la loi de l’Eternel.
5 As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously provided the firstfruits of the grain, new wine, oil, and honey, and of all the produce of the field, and they brought in an abundance—a tithe of everything.
Et quand la chose fut divulguée, les enfants d’Israël donnèrent en abondance les prémices du blé, du moût, de l’huile, du miel et de toutes les productions des champs et apportèrent en abondance la dîme de tout.
6 And the Israelites and Judahites who lived in the cities of Judah also brought a tithe of their herds and flocks and a tithe of the holy things consecrated to the LORD their God, and they laid them in large heaps.
Les enfants d’Israël et de Juda qui demeuraient dans les villes de Juda, eux aussi, apportèrent la dîme du gros et du menu bétail, la dîme des choses saintes consacrées à l’Eternel, leur Dieu, et ils les donnèrent par monceaux.
7 In the third month they began building up the heaps, and they finished in the seventh month.
C’Est au troisième mois qu’ils commencèrent à former les monceaux, et au septième mois qu’ils les finirent.
8 When Hezekiah and his officials came and viewed the heaps, they blessed the LORD and His people Israel.
Ezéchias et les chefs arrivèrent, virent les monceaux et bénirent l’Eternel et son peuple Israël.
9 Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and Levites about the heaps,
Ezéchias interrogea les prêtres et les Lévites au sujet de ces monceaux.
10 and Azariah, the chief priest of the household of Zadok, answered him, “Since the people began to bring their contributions into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat and there is plenty left over, because the LORD has blessed His people; this great abundance is what is left over.”
Alors Azariahou, le prêtre en chef de la maison de Çadok, lui répondit et dit: "Depuis qu’on a commencé d’apporter l’offrande au temple du Seigneur, on a mangé jusqu’à satiété et il en est resté énormément, car l’Eternel a béni son peuple, et c’est le reste que cette quantité que voici."
11 Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare storerooms in the house of the LORD, and they did so.
Ezéchias ordonna de préparer des chambres dans le temple de l’Eternel, et on les prépara.
12 And they faithfully brought in the contributions, tithes, and dedicated gifts. Conaniah the Levite was the officer in charge of them, and his brother Shimei was second.
On apporta fidèlement l’offrande, la dîme et les objets sacrés, que l’on confia à la surveillance de Conaniahou, le Lévite, et de Chimeï son frère, comme second.
13 Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers under the authority of Conaniah and his brother Shimei, by appointment of King Hezekiah and of Azariah the chief official of the house of God.
Yehiël, Azaziahou, Nahat, Assahel, Yerimôt, Yozabad, Eliël, Yismakhiahou, Mahat et Benayahou étaient préposés sous la direction de Conaniahou et de Chimeï, son frère, par ordre du roi Ezéchias et d’Azariahou, l’intendant du temple de Dieu.
14 Kore son of Imnah the Levite, the keeper of the East Gate, was in charge of the freewill offerings given to God, distributing the contributions to the LORD and the consecrated gifts.
Coré, fils de Yimna, le Lévite, gardien de la porte orientale, était préposé aux offrandes volontaires offertes à Dieu, pour donner l’offrande de l’Eternel et les choses éminemment saintes.
15 Under his authority, Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah faithfully distributed portions to their fellow priests in their cities, according to their divisions, old and young alike.
Sous ses ordres étaient Eden, Miniamin, Yèchoua, Chemayahou, Amariahou, Chekhaniahou, dans les villes des prêtres pour donner loyalement les portions à leurs frères, suivant leurs divisions, aux grands comme aux petits.
16 In addition, they distributed portions to the males registered by genealogy who were three years of age or older—to all who would enter the house of the LORD for their daily duties for service in the responsibilities of their divisions—
Outre ceux qui étaient inscrits comme mâles depuis trois ans et au-dessus, à tous ceux qui entraient dans le temple de l’Eternel, pour les fonctions quotidiennes, pour leur service, selon leurs classes et selon leurs divisions.
17 and to the priests enrolled according to their families in the genealogy, as well as to the Levites twenty years of age or older, according to their duties and divisions.
L’Inscription des prêtres se faisait d’après leurs familles, et les Lévites étaient comptés depuis vingt ans et au-delà d’après leurs fonctions et leurs classes.
18 The genealogy included all the little ones, wives, sons, and daughters in the whole assembly. For they had faithfully consecrated themselves as holy.
Ils devaient enregistrer aussi leurs petits enfants, femmes, fils et filles avec toute l’assemblée, car ils s’occupaient ponctuellement de la distribution des choses saintes.
19 As for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who lived on the farmlands around each of their cities or in any other city, men were designated by name to distribute a portion to every male among the priests and to every Levite listed by the genealogies.
En outre, les descendants d’Aaron, les prêtres qui étaient à la campagne formant la banlieue de leurs villes avaient dans chaque ville des hommes désignés nominativement pour distribuer les portions à tous les mâles d’entre les prêtres et à tous ceux qui étaient enregistrés parmi les Lévites.
20 So this is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah. He did what was good and upright and true before the LORD his God.
Ezéchias en fit autant dans tout Juda et il fit ce qui est bien, droit et loyal devant l’Eternel, son Dieu.
21 He was diligent in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law and the commandments, in order to seek his God. And so he prospered.
Dans toutes les œuvres qu’il entreprit pour le culte du temple de Dieu, pour la Loi et les commandements, recherchant son Dieu, il agit de tout cœur et réussit.
