2 Chronicles 25
1 Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan; she was from Jerusalem.
Era Amasias da idade de vinte e cinco anos, quando começou a reinar, e reinou vinte e nove anos em Jerusalém: e era o nome de sua mãe Joadan, de Jerusalém.
2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not wholeheartedly.
E fez o que era reto aos olhos do Senhor, porém não com coração inteiro.
3 As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, Amaziah executed the servants who had murdered his father the king.
Sucedeu pois que, sendo-lhe o reino já confirmado, matou a seus servos que feriram o rei seu pai;
4 Yet he did not put their sons to death, but acted according to what is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded: “Fathers must not be put to death for their children, and children must not be put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.”
Porém não matou a seus filhos: mas fez como na lei está escrito, no livro de Moisés, como o Senhor ordenou, dizendo: Não morrerão os pais pelos filhos, nem os filhos morrerão pelos pais; mas cada um morrerá pelo seu pecado
5 Then Amaziah gathered the people of Judah and assigned them according to their families to commanders of thousands and of hundreds. And he numbered those twenty years of age or older throughout Judah and Benjamin and found 300,000 chosen men able to serve in the army, bearing the spear and shield.
E Amasias ajuntou a Judá e os pôs segundo as casas dos pais, por chefes de milhares, e por chefes de centenas, por todo o Judá e Benjamin; e os numerou, de vinte anos e daí para cima, e achou deles trezentos mil escolhidos que saiam ao exército, e levavam lança e escudo.
6 He also hired 100,000 mighty warriors from Israel for a hundred talents of silver.
Também de Israel tomou a soldo cem mil varões valentes, por cem talentos de prata.
7 But a man of God came to him and said, “O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel—not with any of the Ephraimites.
Porém um homem de Deus veio a ele, dizendo: Oh rei, não deixes ir contigo o exército de Israel: porque o Senhor não é com Israel, a saber, com os filhos de Ephraim.
8 Even if you go and fight bravely in battle, God will make you stumble before the enemy, for God has power to help and power to overthrow.”
Se porém fores, faze-o, esforça-te para a peleja; Deus te fará cair diante do inimigo; porque força há em Deus para ajudar e para fazer cair
9 Amaziah asked the man of God, “What should I do about the hundred talents I have given to the army of Israel?” And the man of God replied, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.”
E disse Amasias ao homem de Deus: Que se fará pois dos cem talentos de prata que dei às tropas de Israel? E disse o homem de Deus: Mais tem o Senhor que te dar do que isso.
10 So Amaziah dismissed the troops who had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home. And they were furious with Judah and returned home in great anger.
Então separou Amasias as tropas que lhe tinham vindo de Ephraim, para que se fossem ao seu lugar; pelo que se acendeu a sua ira contra Judá, e voltaram para o seu lugar em ardor d'ira.
11 Amaziah, however, summoned his strength and led his troops to the Valley of Salt, where he struck down 10,000 men of Seir,
Esforçou-se pois Amasias, e conduziu o seu povo, e foi-se ao vale do sal; e feriu dos filhos de Seir dez mil.
12 and the army of Judah also captured 10,000 men alive. They took them to the top of a cliff and threw them down so that all were dashed to pieces.
Também os filhos de Judá prenderam vivos dez mil, e os trouxeram ao cume da rocha; e do mais alto da rocha os lançaram do alto abaixo, e todos arrebentaram.
13 Meanwhile the troops that Amaziah had dismissed from battle raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon. They struck down 3,000 people and carried off a great deal of plunder.
Porém os homens das tropas que Amasias despedira, para que não fossem com ele à peleja, deram sobre as cidades de Judá desde Samaria, até Beth-horon; e feriram deles três mil, e saquearam grande despojo.
14 When Amaziah returned from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the Seirites, set them up as his own gods, bowed before them, and burned sacrifices to them.
E sucedeu que, depois que Amasias veio da matança dos idumeus, e trouxe consigo os deuses dos filhos de Seir, tomou-os por seus deuses, e prostrou-se diante deles, e queimou-lhes incenso.
15 Therefore the anger of the LORD burned against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet, who said, “Why have you sought this people’s gods, which could not deliver them from your hand?”
Então a ira do Senhor se acendeu contra Amasias; e mandou-lhe um profeta que lhe disse: Porque buscaste deuses do povo, que a seu povo não livraram da tua mão?
16 While he was still speaking, the king asked, “Have we made you the counselor to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but he said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”
E sucedeu que, falando-lhe ele, lhe respondeu: puseram-te por conselheiro do rei? cala-te, porque te feririam? então o profeta parou, e disse: Bem vejo eu que já o Senhor deliberou destruir-te; porquanto fizeste isto, e não deste ouvidos a meu conselho.
17 Then Amaziah king of Judah took counsel and sent word to the king of Israel Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu. “Come, let us meet face to face,” he said.
E, tendo tomado conselho, Amasias, rei de Judá, enviou a Joás, filho de Joachaz, filho de Jehu, rei de Israel, a dizer: Vem, vejamo-nos cara a cara.
18 But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: “A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son in marriage.’ Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle.
Porém Joás, rei de Israel, mandou dizer a Amasias, rei de Judá: O cardo que estava no líbano mandou dizer ao cedro que estava no líbano: Dá tua filha a meu filho por mulher; porém os animais do campo que estão no líbano passaram e pizaram o cardo.
19 You have said, ‘Look, I have defeated Edom,’ and your heart has become proud and boastful. Now stay at home. Why should you stir up trouble so that you fall—you and Judah with you?”
Tu dizes: Eis que tenho ferido os idumeus; e elevou-se o teu coração, para te glóriares: agora pois fica em tua casa; porque te entremeterias no mal, para caires tu e Judá contigo?
20 But Amaziah would not listen, for this had come from God in order to deliver them into the hand of Jehoash, because they had sought the gods of Edom.
Porém Amasias não lhe deu ouvidos, porque isto vinha de Deus, para entrega-los na mão dos seus inimigos; porquanto buscaram os deuses dos idumeus.
21 So Jehoash king of Israel advanced, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh in Judah.
E Joás, rei de Israel, subiu; e ele e Amasias, rei de Judá, se viram cara a cara em Beth-semes, que está em Judá.
22 And Judah was routed before Israel, and every man fled to his own home.
E Judá foi ferido diante de Israel: e foram-se cada um para as suas tendas.
23 There at Beth-shemesh, Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate—a section of four hundred cubits.
E Joás, rei de Israel, prendeu a Amasias, rei de Judá, filho de Joás, o filho de Joachaz em Beth-semes, e o trouxe a Jerusalém; e derribou o muro de Jerusalém, desde a porta de Ephraim até à porta da esquina, quatrocentos côvados.
24 He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the house of God with Obed-edom and in the treasuries of the royal palace, as well as some hostages. Then he returned to Samaria.
Também tomou todo o ouro, e a prata, e todos os vasos que se acharam na casa de Deus com Obed-edom, e os tesouros da casa do rei, e os reféns; e voltou para Samaria.
25 Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.
E viveu Amasias, filho de Joás, rei de Judá, depois da morte de Joás, filho de Joachaz, rei de Israel, quinze anos.
26 As for the rest of the acts of Amaziah, from beginning to end, are they not written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel?
Quanto ao mais dos sucessos d'Amasias, tanto os primeiros como os últimos, eis que porventura não estão escritos no livro dos reis de Judá e de Israel?
27 From the time that Amaziah turned from following the LORD, a conspiracy was formed against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But men were sent after him to Lachish, and they killed him there.
E desde o tempo que Amasias se desviou de após o Senhor, conspiraram contra ele em Jerusalém, porém ele fugiu para Lachis, mas enviaram após ele a Lachis, e o mataram ali.
28 They carried him back on horses and buried him with his fathers in the City of Judah.
E o trouxeram sobre cavalos e o sepultaram com seus pais na cidade de Judá.
