< 2 Chronicles 21 >
1 And Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. And his son Jehoram reigned in his place.
Awo Yekosafaati ne yeebakira wamu ne bajjajjaabe, n’aziikibwa mu kibuga kya Dawudi; Yekolaamu mutabani we n’amusikira.
2 Jehoram’s brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat, were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah; these were all sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
Yekolaamu yalina baganda be, batabani ba Yekosafaati, nga be ba Azaliya, ne Yekyeri, ne Zekkaliya, ne Azaliya, ne Mikayiri ne Sefatiya. Abo bonna bali baana ba Yekosafaati kabaka wa Yuda.
3 Their father had given them many gifts of silver and gold and precious things, as well as the fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he was the firstborn.
Kitaabwe yabawa eby’obugagga bingi, ebya ffeeza ne zaabu, n’ebintu eby’omuwendo ebirala, wamu n’ebibuga ebiriko bbugwe mu Yuda, naye obwakabaka n’abuwa Yekolaamu kubanga ye yali omuggulanda.
4 When Jehoram had established himself over his father’s kingdom, he strengthened himself by putting to the sword all his brothers along with some of the princes of Israel.
Awo Yekolaamu bwe yamala okwenywereza ddala ku ntebe ye ey’obwakabaka, n’atta baganda be bonna n’ekitala, era n’abakungu abamu aba Isirayiri.
5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.
Yekolaamu yalina emyaka amakumi asatu mu ebiri we yafuukira kabaka, era n’afugira emyaka munaana mu Yerusaalemi.
6 And Jehoram walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done. For he married a daughter of Ahab and did evil in the sight of the LORD.
N’atambulira mu makubo ga bakabaka ba Isirayiri, ng’ennyumba ya Akabu bwe yakolanga, era n’okuwasa n’awasa muwala wa Akabu. N’akola eby’ebibi mu maaso ga Mukama.
7 Yet the LORD was unwilling to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant He had made with David, and since He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever.
Newaakubadde ng’ebyo byonna byali bwe bityo, Mukama teyayagala kusaanyaawo nnyumba ya Dawudi, kubanga yali akoze endagaano ne Dawudi, ate ng’asuubizza okukuuma ettabaaza ye n’eya bazzukulu be ng’eyaka emirembe gyonna.
8 In the days of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against the hand of Judah and appointed their own king.
Mu biro bya Yekolaamu Edomu n’ajeemera okufuga kwa Yuda ne beeteekerawo kabaka owaabwe.
9 So Jehoram crossed into Edom with his officers and all his chariots. When the Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, he rose up and attacked by night.
Awo Yekolaamu n’agendayo n’abakungu be n’amagaali ge gonna. Abayedomu ne bamutaayiza ye n’abaduumizi ab’amagaali ge mu kiro, naye n’abagolokokerako n’abakuba.
10 So to this day Edom has been in rebellion against the hand of Judah. Likewise, Libnah rebelled against his rule at the same time, because Jehoram had forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.
Okuva ku olwo Edomu ne bajeemera Yuda n’okutuusa leero. Mu kiseera ekyo Libuna naye ne n’amujeemera, kubanga Yekolaamu yali avudde ku Mukama Katonda wa bajjajjaabe.
11 Jehoram had also built high places on the hills of Judah; he had caused the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves and had led Judah astray.
Yali azimbye n’ebifo ebigulumivu ku nsozi za Yuda, era ng’aleetedde n’abatuuze ba Yerusaalemi obutaba beesigwa, nga ne Yuda bawabye.
12 Then a letter came to Jehoram from Elijah the prophet, which stated: “This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘You have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa king of Judah,
Yekolaamu n’afuna ebbaluwa okuva eri Eriya nnabbi ng’egamba nti, “Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama Katonda wa jjajjaawo Dawudi nti, ‘Olw’obutatambulira mu makubo ga kitaawo Yekosafaati, wadde mu makubo ga Asa kabaka wa Yuda,
13 but you have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and have caused Judah and the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves, just as the house of Ahab prostituted itself. You have also killed your brothers, your father’s family, who were better than you.
naye n’otambulira mu kkubo lya bakabaka ba Isirayiri, n’oleetera Yuda n’abantu b’e Yerusaalemi obutaba beesigwa, ng’ennyumba ya Akabu bwe yakola, era n’otta ne baganda bo ab’ennyumba ya kitaawo, abaali bakusinga empisa,
14 So behold, the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives, and all your possessions with a serious blow.
Mukama kyaliva aleeta kawumpuli ow’amaanyi, ku bantu bo, n’abaana bo, n’abakyala bo, ne ku bintu byo byonna,
15 And day after day you yourself will suffer from a severe illness, a disease of your bowels, until it causes your bowels to come out.’”
ate naawe olirwala obulwadde obw’amaanyi mu lubuto, erireetera ebyenda byo okuvaayo, buli lunaku.’”
16 Then the LORD stirred against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and Arabs who lived near the Cushites.
Awo Mukama n’asitusa obusungu bw’Abafirisuuti n’Abawalabu abaabeeranga okumpi n’Abaesiyopiya eri Yekolaamu,
17 So they went to war against Judah, invaded it, and carried off all the possessions found in the king’s palace, along with his sons and wives; not a son was left to him except Jehoahaz, his youngest.
ne balumba Yuda, ne bakiwangula, ne batwala ebintu byonna ebyali mu lubiri lwa kabaka, ne batabani be, ne bakazi be, ne wataba mutabani we n’omu eyalekebwa okuggyako Yekoyakaazi, omuggalanda.
18 After all this, the LORD afflicted Jehoram with an incurable disease of the bowels.
Oluvannyuma lw’ebyo byonna, Mukama n’aleetako Yekolaamu obulwadde obutawonyezeka obw’omu lubuto.
19 This continued day after day until two full years had passed. Finally, his intestines came out because of his disease, and he died in severe pain. And his people did not make a fire in his honor as they had done for his fathers.
Awo ebiro bwe byayitawo, nga wayiseewo emyaka ebiri, ebyenda bye ne bitanula okumuvaamu, olw’obulwadde, n’afa mu bulumi bungi. Abantu be ne batamukumira lumbe, nga bwe baali bakoledde bajjajjaabe.
20 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He died, to no one’s regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
Yekolaamu yali wa myaka amakumi asatu mu ebiri bwe yatandika okuba kabaka, era n’afugira mu Yerusaalemi emyaka munaana. Okufa kwe tekwaleetera muntu n’omu kwejjusa, n’aziikibwa mu kibuga kya Dawudi naye si ku biggya bya bassekabaka.
