< 2 Chronicles 21 >
1 And Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. And his son Jehoram reigned in his place.
Jehoshaphat te a napa rhoek taengla a khoem uh vaengah David khopuei ah a napa rhoek neh a up uh. Te phoeiah a capa Jehoram te anih yueng la manghai.
2 Jehoram’s brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat, were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah; these were all sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
A boeinaphung ah Jehoshaphat koca rhoek la Azariah, Jehiel, Zekhariah, Azariah, Michael, Shephatiah. He boeih he Israel manghai, Jehoshaphat koca rhoek ni.
3 Their father had given them many gifts of silver and gold and precious things, as well as the fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he was the firstborn.
A napa loh amih te kutdoe la cak, sui, kawnthen neh Judah khuiah kasam khopuei rhoek khaw muep a paek. Tedae Jehoram te tah a caming dongah ram a paek.
4 When Jehoram had established himself over his father’s kingdom, he strengthened himself by putting to the sword all his brothers along with some of the princes of Israel.
Jehoram loh a napa kah ram te a thoh tih a moem. Tedae a manuca boeih neh Israel mangpa rhoek te khaw cunghang neh a ngawn.
5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.
Jehoram te sawmthum kum nit a lo ca vaengah manghai tih Jerusalem ah kum rhet manghai.
6 And Jehoram walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done. For he married a daughter of Ahab and did evil in the sight of the LORD.
Ahab imkhui kah a saii bangla Israel manghai rhoek kah longpuei ah pongpa. Ahab canu te anih yuu la a om dongah BOEIPA mikhmuh ah boethae a saii.
7 Yet the LORD was unwilling to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant He had made with David, and since He had promised to maintain a lamp for David and his descendants forever.
David taengah paipi a saii coeng dongah David imkhui te phae ham tah BOEIPA loh ngaih pawh. Te dongah amah ham neh a ca rhoek ham khaw hnin takuem hmaithoi khueh pah ham khaw a thui coeng.
8 In the days of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against the hand of Judah and appointed their own king.
Anih tue vaengah Judah kut hmui lamkah Edom loh boe a koek tih amih soah manghai te a manghai sak uh.
9 So Jehoram crossed into Edom with his officers and all his chariots. When the Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, he rose up and attacked by night.
Te dongah Jehoram loh amah kah mangpa rhoek neh a taengkah leng boeih khaw a khuen. Khoyin ah thoo tih Edom khaw, a kaepvai ah aka vael neh leng mangpa rhoek te khaw a ngawn.
10 So to this day Edom has been in rebellion against the hand of Judah. Likewise, Libnah rebelled against his rule at the same time, because Jehoram had forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.
Edom loh tahae khohnin hil Judah kut hmui lamloh boe a koek. A napa rhoek kah Pathen BOEIPA te a hnawt dongah, amah te kah tue ah Libnah loh anih kut hmui lamkah boe a koek.
11 Jehoram had also built high places on the hills of Judah; he had caused the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves and had led Judah astray.
Anih long khaw Judah tlang ah hmuensang a sak. Jerusalem khosa rhoek te a cukhalh sak tih Judah te a heh.
12 Then a letter came to Jehoram from Elijah the prophet, which stated: “This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘You have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa king of Judah,
Te dongah tonghma Elijah taeng lamkah cadaek te anih taengla pawk tih, “Na pa David kah Pathen BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Na pa Jehoshaphat kah longpuei ah khaw, Judah manghai Asa kah longpuei ah na pongpa moenih.
13 but you have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and have caused Judah and the people of Jerusalem to prostitute themselves, just as the house of Ahab prostituted itself. You have also killed your brothers, your father’s family, who were better than you.
Israel manghai kah longpuei ah na pongpa. Judah neh Jerusalem khosa rhoek te Ahab imkhui kah a cukhalh bangla na cukhalh sak. Na pa imkhui kah na manuca rhoek khaw namah lakah then dae na ngawn.
14 So behold, the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives, and all your possessions with a serious blow.
BOEIPA loh na pilnam soah khaw, na ca rhoek soah khaw, na yuu rhoek soah khaw, na khuehtawn boeih soah khaw lucik neh mat a vuek coeng ke.
15 And day after day you yourself will suffer from a severe illness, a disease of your bowels, until it causes your bowels to come out.’”
Nang te tlohtat a yet neh, na ko khuikah tlohtat neh, hnin at phoeiah hnin at tlohtat lamloh na bung a vawh hil,” a ti nah.
16 Then the LORD stirred against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and Arabs who lived near the Cushites.
BOEIPA loh Jehoram soah Philisti kah mueihla neh Kushi kut dongah Arab te a haeng thil.
17 So they went to war against Judah, invaded it, and carried off all the possessions found in the king’s palace, along with his sons and wives; not a son was left to him except Jehoahaz, his youngest.
Te dongah Judah te a muk uh tih a rhek sak uh. Manghai im kah a hmuh khuehtawn cungkuem neh a ca rhoek khaw a yuu rhoek khaw a sol pa uh. Anih ham ca pakhat khaw paih pah pawt tih a ca canoi Jehoahaz bueng a paih pah.
18 After all this, the LORD afflicted Jehoram with an incurable disease of the bowels.
BOEIPA loh anih te a cungkuem neh a vuek tih a ko khuikah tlohtat neh hoeihnah om pawh.
19 This continued day after day until two full years had passed. Finally, his intestines came out because of his disease, and he died in severe pain. And his people did not make a fire in his honor as they had done for his fathers.
Hnin at phoeiah hnin at ah om tih a tue loh kum nit a thoknah a pha. Te vaengah tah a tlohtat dongah a bung a vawh pah tih tloh thae neh duek. Tedae anih ham tah a pilnam loh a napa rhoek kah hmai bangla hmai toih pawh.
20 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He died, to no one’s regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
Anih te sawmthum kum nit a lo ca vaengah manghai tih Jerusalem ah kum rhet manghai. Anih a caeh akhaw a sahnaih om pawh. Anih te David khopuei ah tah a up uh dae manghai phuel ah moenih.
