2 Chronicles 17
1 Asa’s son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place, and he strengthened himself against Israel.
E reinou em seu lugar Josafá seu filho, o qual prevaleceu contra Israel.
2 He stationed troops in every fortified city of Judah and put garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.
E pôs exército em todas as cidades fortes de Judá, e colocou gente de guarnição, em terra de Judá, e também nas cidades de Efraim que seu pai Asa havia tomado.
3 Now the LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek out the Baals,
E foi o SENHOR com Josafá, porque andou nos primeiros caminhos de Davi seu pai, e não buscou aos baalins;
4 but he sought the God of his father and walked by His commandments rather than the practices of Israel.
mas buscou o Deus de seu pai, e andou em seus mandamentos, e não segundo as obras de Israel.
5 So the LORD established the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah brought him tribute, so that he had an abundance of riches and honor.
Por isso o SENHOR confirmou o reino em sua mão, e todo Judá deu presentes a Josafá; e teve riquezas e glória em abundância.
6 And his heart took delight in the ways of the LORD; furthermore, he removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah.
E animou-se seu coração nos caminhos do SENHOR, e tirou os altos e os bosques de Judá.
7 In the third year of his reign, Jehoshaphat sent his officials Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah to teach in the cities of Judah,
Ao terceiro ano de seu reinado enviou seus príncipes Bene-Hail, Obadias, Zacarias, Natanael e Micaías, para que ensinassem nas cidades de Judá;
8 accompanied by certain Levites—Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah—along with the priests Elishama and Jehoram.
E com eles aos levitas, Semaías, Netanias, Zebadias, e Asael, e Semiramote, e Jônatas, e Adonias, e Tobias, e Tobadonias, levitas; e com eles a Elisama e a Jorão, sacerdotes.
9 They taught throughout Judah, taking with them the Book of the Law of the LORD. They went throughout the towns of Judah and taught the people.
E ensinaram em Judá, tendo consigo o livro da lei do SENHOR, e rodearam por todas as cidades de Judá ensinando ao povo.
10 And the dread of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that surrounded Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.
E caiu o pavor do SENHOR sobre todos os reinos das terras que estavam ao redor de Judá; que não ousaram fazer guerra contra Josafá.
11 Some Philistines also brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat, and the Arabs brought him 7,700 rams and 7,700 goats from their flocks.
E dos filisteus traziam presentes a Josafá, e tributos de prata. Os árabes também lhe trouxeram gado: sete mil e setecentos carneiros e sete mil e setecentos bodes.
12 Jehoshaphat grew stronger and stronger, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah
Ia pois Josafá crescendo altamente: e edificou em Judá fortalezas e cidades de depósitos.
13 and kept vast supplies in the cities of Judah. He also had warriors in Jerusalem who were mighty men of valor.
Teve ademais muitas obras nas cidades de Judá, e homens de guerra muito valentes em Jerusalém.
14 These are their numbers according to the houses of their fathers: From Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, and with him 300,000 mighty men of valor;
E este é o número deles segundo as casas de seus pais: em Judá, chefes dos milhares: o general Adna, e com ele trezentos mil homens muito esforçados;
15 next to him, Jehohanan the commander, and with him 280,000;
Depois dele, o chefe Joanã, e com ele duzentos e oitenta mil;
16 and next to him, Amasiah son of Zichri, the volunteer for the LORD, and with him 200,000 mighty men of valor.
Depois este, Amasias filho de Zicri, o qual se havia oferecido voluntariamente ao SENHOR, e com ele duzentos mil homens valentes;
17 From Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him 200,000 armed with bows and shields;
De Benjamim, Eliada, homem muito valente, e com ele duzentos mil armados de arco e escudo;
18 and next to him, Jehozabad, and with him 180,000 armed for battle.
Depois este, Jozabade, e com ele cento e oitenta mil preparados para a guerra.
19 These were the men who served the king, besides those he stationed in the fortified cities throughout Judah.
Estes eram servos do rei, sem os que havia o rei posto nas cidades de guarnição por toda Judá.
