2 Chronicles 17
1 Asa’s son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place, and he strengthened himself against Israel.
E Josaphat seu filho reinou em seu lugar: e fortificou-se contra Israel.
2 He stationed troops in every fortified city of Judah and put garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.
E pôs gente de guerra em todas as cidades fortes de Judá e pôs guarnições na terra de Judá, como também nas cidades de Ephraim, que Asa seu pai tinha tomado.
3 Now the LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek out the Baals,
E o Senhor foi com Josaphat; porque andou nos primeiros caminhos de David seu pai, e não buscou a Baalim.
4 but he sought the God of his father and walked by His commandments rather than the practices of Israel.
Antes buscou ao Deus de seu pai, e andou nos seus mandamentos, e não segundo as obras de Israel.
5 So the LORD established the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah brought him tribute, so that he had an abundance of riches and honor.
E o Senhor confirmou o reino na sua mão, e todo o Judá deu presentes a Josaphat: e teve riquezas e glória em abundância.
6 And his heart took delight in the ways of the LORD; furthermore, he removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah.
E exaltou-se o seu coração nos caminhos do Senhor e ainda de mais tirou os altos e os bosques de Judá.
7 In the third year of his reign, Jehoshaphat sent his officials Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah to teach in the cities of Judah,
E no terceiro ano do seu reinado enviou ele os seus príncipes, a Benchail, e a Obadias, e a Zacarias, e a Nathanael, e a Michaia, para ensinarem nas cidades de Judá.
8 accompanied by certain Levites—Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah—along with the priests Elishama and Jehoram.
E com eles os levitas, Semaias e Nethanias, e Zebadias, e Asael, e Semiramoth, e Jonathan, e Adonias, e Tobias, e Tobadonias, levitas: e com eles os sacerdotes, Elisama e Jorão.
9 They taught throughout Judah, taking with them the Book of the Law of the LORD. They went throughout the towns of Judah and taught the people.
E ensinaram em Judá e tinham consigo o livro da lei do Senhor: e rodearam todas as cidades de Judá, e ensinaram entre o povo.
10 And the dread of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that surrounded Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.
E veio o temor do Senhor sobre todos os reinos das terras, que estavam em roda de Judá e não guerrearam contra Josaphat.
11 Some Philistines also brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat, and the Arabs brought him 7,700 rams and 7,700 goats from their flocks.
E alguns dentre os philisteus traziam presentes a Josaphat, com o dinheiro do tributo: também os arabios lhe trouxeram gado miúdo; sete mil e setecentos carneiros, e sete mil e setecentos bodes.
12 Jehoshaphat grew stronger and stronger, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah
Cresceu pois Josaphat e se engrandeceu extremamente: e edificou fortalezas e cidades de munições em Judá.
13 and kept vast supplies in the cities of Judah. He also had warriors in Jerusalem who were mighty men of valor.
E teve muitas obras nas cidades de Judá e gente de guerra, varões valentes em Jerusalém.
14 These are their numbers according to the houses of their fathers: From Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, and with him 300,000 mighty men of valor;
E este é o número deles segundo as casas de seu pais: em Judá eram chefes dos milhares: o chefe Adna, e com ele trezentos mil varões valentes;
15 next to him, Jehohanan the commander, and with him 280,000;
E após ele o chefe Johanan, e com ele duzentos e oitenta mil;
16 and next to him, Amasiah son of Zichri, the volunteer for the LORD, and with him 200,000 mighty men of valor.
E após ele Amasias, filho de Zichri, que voluntariamente se entregou ao Senhor, e com ele duzentos mil varões valentes:
17 From Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him 200,000 armed with bows and shields;
E de Benjamin Eliada, varão valente, e com ele duzentos mil, armados de arco e de escudo:
18 and next to him, Jehozabad, and with him 180,000 armed for battle.
E após ele Jozabad: e com ele cento e oitenta mil armados para a guerra.
19 These were the men who served the king, besides those he stationed in the fortified cities throughout Judah.
Estes estavam no serviço do rei; a fora os que o rei tinha posto nas cidades fortes por todo o Judá.
