2 Chronicles 17
1 Asa’s son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place, and he strengthened himself against Israel.
Und sein Sohn Josaphat ward König an seiner Statt und befestigte sich wider Israel.
2 He stationed troops in every fortified city of Judah and put garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.
Er legte Heeresmacht in alle festen Städte Judas und legte Besatzungen in das Land Juda und die Städte Ephraims, die sein Vater Asa erobert hatte.
3 Now the LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek out the Baals,
Und Jahwe war mit Josaphat; denn er wandelte in den anfänglichen Wegen seines Ahnherrn David und hielt sich nicht an die Baale,
4 but he sought the God of his father and walked by His commandments rather than the practices of Israel.
sondern hielt sich an den Gott seines Ahnherrn und wandelte nach seinen Geboten und that nicht wie die Israeliten.
5 So the LORD established the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah brought him tribute, so that he had an abundance of riches and honor.
Daher ließ Jahwe das Königtum unter seiner Hand erstarken, und alle Judäer gaben Josaphat Geschenke, so daß ihm Reichtum und Ehre in Menge zu teil ward.
6 And his heart took delight in the ways of the LORD; furthermore, he removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah.
Und da ihm in den Wegen Jahwes der Mut wuchs, so beseitigte er auch die Opferhöhen und die heiligen Bäume aus Juda.
7 In the third year of his reign, Jehoshaphat sent his officials Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah to teach in the cities of Judah,
Im dritten Jahre seiner Regierung aber sandte er seine obersten Beamten Benhail, Obadja, Sacharja, Nethaneel und Michaja aus, in den Städten Judas zu lehren,
8 accompanied by certain Levites—Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah—along with the priests Elishama and Jehoram.
und mit ihnen die Leviten Semaja, Nethanja, Sebadja, Asahel, Semiramoth, Jonathan, Adonia, Tobia und Tob-Adonia, die Leviten, und mit ihnen die Priester Elisama und Joram.
9 They taught throughout Judah, taking with them the Book of the Law of the LORD. They went throughout the towns of Judah and taught the people.
Die lehrten in Juda, indem sie das Buch mit dem Gesetze Jahwes bei sich hatten, und zogen in allen Städten Judas umher und lehrten unter dem Volke.
10 And the dread of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that surrounded Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.
Und der Schrecken Jahwes kam über alle Reiche der Heidenländer, die rings um Juda lagen, so daß sie nicht mit Josaphat kriegten.
11 Some Philistines also brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat, and the Arabs brought him 7,700 rams and 7,700 goats from their flocks.
Und von den Philistern brachten welche dem Josaphat Geschenke und Silber als Tribut; auch die Araber brachten ihm Kleinvieh: 7700 Widder und 7700 Ziegenböcke.
12 Jehoshaphat grew stronger and stronger, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah
Und so ward Josaphat immer mächtiger, bis er es überaus war, und er erbaute in Juda Schlösser und Vorratsstädte
13 and kept vast supplies in the cities of Judah. He also had warriors in Jerusalem who were mighty men of valor.
und hatte gewaltigen Mundvorrat in den Städten Judas und eine Schar tapferer Krieger zu Jerusalem.
14 These are their numbers according to the houses of their fathers: From Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, and with him 300,000 mighty men of valor;
Und dies ist ihre Amtsordnung nach ihren Familien: zu Juda gehörten als Oberste von Tausendschaften: Adna, der Oberste, und mit ihm 300000 tapfere Männer;
15 next to him, Jehohanan the commander, and with him 280,000;
neben ihm Johanan, der Oberste, und mit ihm 280000,
16 and next to him, Amasiah son of Zichri, the volunteer for the LORD, and with him 200,000 mighty men of valor.
und neben ihm Amasja, der Sohn Sichris, der sich freiwillig Jahwe hingegeben hatte, und mit ihm 200000 tapfere Männer.
17 From Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him 200,000 armed with bows and shields;
Zu Benjamin aber gehörten: der tapfere Eljada und mit ihm 200000 mit Bogen und Schild Gerüstete,
18 and next to him, Jehozabad, and with him 180,000 armed for battle.
und neben ihm Josabad und mit ihm 180000 zum Kriegszuge Gerüstete.
19 These were the men who served the king, besides those he stationed in the fortified cities throughout Judah.
Diese waren es, die dem Könige dienten, abgesehen von denen, die der König in ganz Juda in die festen Städte gelegt hatte.
