2 Chronicles 16
1 In the thirty-sixth year of Asa’s reign, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.
Năm thứ ba mươi sáu, triều Vua A-sa, Ba-ê-sa, vua Ít-ra-ên đem quân tấn công vào Giu-đa, rồi xây đồn lũy Ra-ma để không cho ai ra vào lãnh thổ của A-sa, vua Giu-đa.
2 So Asa withdrew the silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal palace, and he sent it with this message to Ben-hadad king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus:
A-sa lấy bạc vàng trong kho tàng Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu và trong ngân khố hoàng cung gửi tặng Bên Ha-đát, vua A-ram, tại thủ đô Đa-mách và yêu cầu:
3 “Let there be a treaty between me and you, between my father and your father. See, I have sent you silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”
“Hai nước chúng ta hãy lập giao ước với nhau như cha ông và cha tôi đã làm. Đây, tôi xin gửi tặng nhà vua bạc vàng. Vậy xin bãi bỏ minh ước với Ba-ê-sa, vua Ít-ra-ên, để ông ấy rút quân khỏi đất nước tôi!”
4 And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, conquering Ijon, Dan, Abel-maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.
Bên Ha-đát chấp thuận đề nghị của Vua A-sa, và ra lệnh cho các tướng chỉ huy đem quân tấn công vào đất Ít-ra-ên, chiếm đóng các thành Y-giôn, Đan, A-bên Ma-im, và các thành dùng làm kho tàng trong xứ Nép-ta-li.
5 When Baasha learned of this, he stopped fortifying Ramah and abandoned his work.
Được tin dữ ấy, Ba-ê-sa liền ngưng ngay công tác xây đồn lũy Ra-ma và ngưng tất cả công việc.
6 Then King Asa brought all the men of Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timbers Baasha had used for building. And with these materials he built up Geba and Mizpah.
Vua A-sa huy động toàn dân Giu-đa đi chở đá và gỗ mà Ba-ê-sa bỏ lại tại Ra-ma đem về kiến thiết hai thành Ghê-ba và Mích-pa.
7 At that time Hanani the seer came to King Asa of Judah and told him, “Because you have relied on the king of Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand.
Lúc ấy, Tiên tri Ha-na-ni đến yết kiến A-sa, vua Giu-đa và trách rằng: “Vì vua nhờ cậy vua A-ram thay vì nương cậy Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời của vua, nên quân đội A-ram đã thoát khỏi tay vua.
8 Were not the Cushites and Libyans a vast army with many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the LORD, He delivered them into your hand.
Vua không nhớ quân đội Ê-thi-ô-pi và quân đội Ly-bi hùng cường và đông đảo với chiến xa và kỵ binh nhiều và mạnh sao? Khi vua nương nhờ Chúa Hằng Hữu, Ngài liền nạp chúng vào tay vua.
9 For the eyes of the LORD roam to and fro over all the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him. You have acted foolishly in this matter. From now on, therefore, you will be at war.”
Vì mắt Chúa Hằng Hữu nhìn qua nhìn lại khắp thế giới, sẵn sàng bày tỏ quyền lực vô song của Ngài cho những người giữ lòng trung thành với Ngài. Trong việc này vua hành động thật dại dột! Từ nay vua sẽ phải lâm vào nhiều cuộc chiến tranh!”
10 Asa was angry with the seer and became so enraged over this matter that he put the man in prison. And at the same time Asa oppressed some of the people.
Vua A-sa nổi giận khi nghe lời trách móc của Ha-na-nia nên bắt nhà tiên tri đưa vào ngục tra tấn. Đồng thời, A-sa cũng đàn áp một số người khác trong dân chúng.
11 Now the rest of the acts of Asa, from beginning to end, are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.
Tất cả các sự kiện trị vì của A-sa từ đầu đến cuối đều được ghi vào Sách Các Vua Giu-đa và Ít-ra-ên.
12 In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet, and his malady became increasingly severe. Yet even in his illness he did not seek the LORD, but only the physicians.
A-sa bị đau chân trầm trọng vào năm thứ ba mươi chín cầm quyền. Trong cơn bệnh tật, A-sa không tìm kiếm Chúa Hằng Hữu, mà nhờ các y sĩ cứu chữa.
13 So in the forty-first year of his reign, Asa died and rested with his fathers.
A-sa qua đời vào năm thứ bốn mươi mốt đời trị vì.
14 And he was buried in the tomb that he had cut out for himself in the City of David. They laid him on a bier that was full of spices and various blended perfumes; then they made a great fire in his honor.
Người ta chôn cất vua trong lăng tẩm phần mộ vua đã xây cất cho mình trong Thành Đa-vít. Trước khi an táng, người ta đặt linh cửu vua trên giường phủ đầy hương liệu với hương thảo và nhiều loại dầu thơm, đốt nhiều hương liệu trong một buổi lễ rất long trọng.
