2 Chronicles 15

1 Now the Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded.

Et l'Esprit de Dieu descendit sur Azarias, fils d'Obed.

2 So he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

Et il sortit à la rencontre d'Asa, de Juda et de Benjamin, et il dit: Écoutez-moi, Asa, et tout Juda et Benjamin: le Seigneur est avec vous, parce que vous êtes avec lui; si vous le cherchez, vous le trouverez; si vous l'abandonnez, il vous abandonnera.

3 For many years Israel has been without the true God, without a priest to instruct them, and without the law.

Il y aura bien des jours en Israël sans vrai Dieu, sans prêtre qui le révèle, sans loi.

4 But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by them.

Mais Dieu les convertira au Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, et il sera trouvé par eux.

5 In those days there was no safety for travelers, because the residents of the lands had many conflicts.

Et, en ces jours-là, il n'y a point de paix pour agir; car un grand trouble, venant du Seigneur, est sur tous ceux qui habitent la terre.

6 Nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God afflicted them with all kinds of adversity.

Et il y aura guerre de nation à nation, de ville à ville; car Dieu les aura troublés par toutes sertes d'afflictions.

7 But as for you, be strong; do not be discouraged, for your work will be rewarded.”

Fortifiez-vous donc; que vos mains ne viennent point à défaillir; car il y a une récompense pour vos œuvres.

8 When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He then restored the altar of the LORD that was in front of the portico of the LORD’s temple.

Après avoir entendu ces paroles et la prophétie d'Adad le prophète, le roi se fortifia, et il chassa les abominations de tout le territoire de Benjamin, et de Juda et de toutes les villes que possédait Jéroboam dans la montagne d'Ephraïm; et il fit la dédicace de l'autel du Seigneur qui était devant le temple.

9 And he assembled all Judah and Benjamin, along with those from the tribes of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who had settled among them, for great numbers had come over to him from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

Puis, il rassembla Juda, Benjamin, les étrangers, résidant avec lui, venus d'Ephraïm, de Manassé et de Siméon; car beaucoup de ceux d'Israël s'étaient joints au roi, parce qu'ils avaient vu que le Seigneur était avec lui.

10 So they gathered together in Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign.

Et ils se réunirent à Jérusalem le troisième mois de la quinzième année du règne d'Asa.

11 At that time they sacrificed to the LORD seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep from all the plunder they had brought back.

Et, ce jour-là, ils sacrifièrent au Seigneur, des dépouilles qu'ils avaient ramenées, sept cents bœufs, et sept mille brebis.

12 Then they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul.

Et ils firent alliance pour chercher le Seigneur Dieu de leurs pères, de tout leur cœur et de toute leur âme,

13 And whoever would not seek the LORD, the God of Israel, would be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.

Et pour que quiconque, jeune ou vieux, homme ou femme, ne chercherait pas le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, fût mis à mort.

14 They took an oath to the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting, trumpets, and rams’ horns.

Et ils prêtèrent serment au Seigneur à haute voix, au son des trompettes et des cors.

15 And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn it with all their heart. They had sought Him earnestly, and He was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on every side.

Et tout Juda se réjouit d'avoir juré, car il l'avait fait de tout son cœur, de toute son âme, et avec une pleine volonté de chercher le Seigneur; et ils le trouvèrent, et il leur donna la paix tout alentour.

16 King Asa also removed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made a detestable Asherah pole. Asa chopped down the pole, crushed it, and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

Et le roi expulsa Maacha, sa mère, pour qu'il n'y eût plus personne qui servît Astarté, et il abattit l'idole, et il la brûla dans le torrent de Cédron.

17 The high places were not removed from Israel, but Asa’s heart was fully devoted all his days.

Néanmoins, les hauts lieux n'étaient point détruits; ils prévalaient encore en Israël; mais le cœur d'Asa fut parfait tous les jours de sa vie.

18 And he brought into the house of God the silver and gold articles that he and his father had dedicated.

Et il consacra de nouveau les choses saintes de David, son aïeul, et celles du temple: argent, or et vaisseaux.

19 And there was no war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.

Et il n'y eut point de guerre contre lui jusqu'à la trente-cinquième année de son règne.
