2 Chronicles 13

1 In the eighteenth year of Jeroboam’s reign, Abijah became king of Judah,

A los dieciocho años del rey Jeroboam, reinó Abías sobre Judá.

2 and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother’s name was Micaiah daughter of Uriel; she was from Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

Y reinó tres años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Micaías hija de Uriel de Gabaa. Y hubo guerra entre Abías y Jeroboam.

3 Abijah went into battle with an army of 400,000 chosen men, while Jeroboam drew up in formation against him with 800,000 chosen and mighty men of valor.

Entonces ordenó Abías batalla con el ejército de los valerosos en la guerra, cuatrocientos mil hombres escogidos; y Jeroboam ordenó batalla contra él con ochocientos mil hombres escogidos, fuertes y valerosos.

4 Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim in the hill country of Ephraim and said, “Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel!

Y se levantó Abías sobre el monte de Zemaraim, que es en los montes de Efraín, y dijo: Oídme, Jeroboam y todo Israel.

5 Do you not know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?

¿No sabéis vosotros, que el SEÑOR Dios de Israel dio el reino a David sobre Israel para siempre, a él y a sus hijos en alianza de sal?

6 Yet Jeroboam son of Nebat, a servant of Solomon son of David, rose up and rebelled against his master.

Pero Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, siervo de Salomón hijo de David, se levantó y rebeló contra su señor;

7 Then worthless and wicked men gathered around him to resist Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young, inexperienced, and unable to resist them.

y que se allegaron a el hombres vanos, hijos de Belial, y pudieron más que Roboam hijo de Salomón, porque Roboam era joven y tierno de corazón, y no se defendió de ellos.

8 And now you think you can resist the kingdom of the LORD, which is in the hands of David’s descendants. You are indeed a vast army, and you have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.

Y ahora vosotros consultáis para fortificaros contra el reino del SEÑOR que esta en mano de los hijos de David; porque sois muchos, y tenéis con vosotros los becerros de oro que Jeroboam os hizo por dioses.

9 But did you not drive out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites? And did you not make priests for yourselves as do the peoples of other lands? Now whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams can become a priest of things that are not gods.

¿No echasteis vosotros a los sacerdotes del SEÑOR, a los hijos de Aarón, y a los levitas, y os habéis hecho sacerdotes a la manera de los pueblos de otras tierras, para que cualquiera venga a consagrarse con un becerro y siete carneros, y así sea sacerdote de los que no son dioses?

10 But as for us, the LORD is our God. We have not forsaken Him; the priests who minister to the LORD are sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their duties.

Mas en cuanto a nosotros, el SEÑOR es nuestro Dios, y no le hemos dejado; y los sacerdotes que ministran al SEÑOR son los hijos de Aarón, y los levitas están en la obra;

11 Every morning and every evening they present burnt offerings and fragrant incense to the LORD. They set out the rows of showbread on the ceremonially clean table, and every evening they light the lamps of the gold lampstand. We are carrying out the requirements of the LORD our God, while you have forsaken Him.

los cuales queman al SEÑOR los holocaustos cada mañana y cada tarde, y el incienso aromático; y ponen los panes sobre la mesa limpia, y el candelero de oro con sus candilejas para que ardan cada tarde; porque nosotros guardamos la ordenanza del SEÑOR nuestro Dios; mas vosotros le habéis dejado.

12 Now behold, God Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with their trumpets sound the battle call against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the LORD, the God of your fathers, for you will not succeed.”

Y he aquí Dios está con nosotros por capitán, y sus sacerdotes con las trompetas del júbilo para que suenen contra vosotros. Oh hijos de Israel, no peleéis contra el SEÑOR Dios de vuestros padres, porque no os sucederá bien.

13 Now Jeroboam had sent troops around to ambush from the rear, so that while he was in front of Judah, the ambush was behind them.

Pero Jeroboam hizo girar una emboscada para venir a ellos por la espalda; y estando así delante de ellos, la emboscada estaba a espaldas de Judá.

14 When Judah turned and discovered that the battle was both before and behind them, they cried out to the LORD. Then the priests blew the trumpets,

Entonces cuando miró Judá, he aquí que tenía batalla delante y a las espaldas; por lo que clamaron al SEÑOR, y los sacerdotes tocaron las trompetas,

15 and the men of Judah raised the battle cry. And when they raised the cry, God routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

y los de Judá alzaron grita. Y cuando ellos alzaron grita, Dios desbarató a Jeroboam y a todo Israel delante de Abías y de Judá.

16 So the Israelites fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hands.

Y huyeron los hijos de Israel delante de Judá, y Dios los entregó en sus manos.

17 Then Abijah and his people struck them with a mighty blow, and 500,000 chosen men of Israel fell slain.

Y Abías y su pueblo hacían en ellos gran mortandad; y cayeron heridos de Israel quinientos mil hombres escogidos.

18 Thus the Israelites were subdued at that time, and the men of Judah prevailed because they relied on the LORD, the God of their fathers.

Así fueron humillados los hijos de Israel en aquel tiempo; mas los hijos de Judá se fortificaron, porque se apoyaban en el SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.

19 Abijah pursued Jeroboam and captured some cities from him: Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron, along with their villages.

Y siguió Abías a Jeroboam, y le tomó algunas ciudades, a Bet-el con sus aldeas, a Jesana con sus aldeas, y a Efrón con sus aldeas.

20 Jeroboam did not again recover his power during the days of Abijah, and the LORD struck him down and he died.

Y nunca más tuvo Jeroboam poderío en los días de Abías; y le hirió el SEÑOR, y murió.

21 But Abijah grew strong, married fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.

Pero se fortificó Abías; y tomó catorce mujeres, y engendró veintidós hijos, y dieciséis hijas.

22 Now the rest of the acts of Abijah, along with his ways and his words, are written in the Treatise of the Prophet Iddo.

Lo demás de los hechos de Abías, sus caminos, y sus negocios, está escrito en la historia de Iddo profeta.
