1 Thessalonians 5
1 Now about the times and seasons, brothers, we do not need to write to you.
Sasa, kwa habari ya muda na nyakati, ndugu, hamna haja kwamba kitu chochote kiandikwe kwenu.
2 For you are fully aware that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
Kwa kuwa ninyi wenyewe mwajua kwa usahihi ya kuwa siku ya Bwana inakuja kama mwizi ajapo usiku.
3 While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
Pale wasemapo kuna “Amani na usalama”, ndipo uharibifu huwajia ghafla. Ni kama utungu umjiavyo mama mwenye mimba. Hawataepuka kwa njia yeyote.
4 But you, brothers, are not in the darkness so that this day should overtake you like a thief.
Lakini ninyi, ndugu hampo kwenye giza hata ile siku iwajie kama mwizi.
5 For you are all sons of the light and sons of the day; we do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
Kwa maana ninyi nyote ni wana wa nuru na wana wa mchana. Sisi siyo wana wa usiku au wa gizani.
6 So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober.
Hivyo basi, tusilale kama wengine walalavyo. Bali tukeshe na kuwa makini.
7 For those who sleep, sleep at night; and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
Kwa kuwa wanaolala hulala usiku na wanao lewa hulewa usiku.
8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of our hope of salvation.
Kwa kuwa sisi ni wana wa mchana, tuwe makini. Tuvae ngao ya imani na upendo, na, kofia ya chuma, ambayo ni uhakika wa wokovu wa wakati ujao.
9 For God has not appointed us to suffer wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Kwa kuwa Mungu hakutuchagua mwanzo kwa ajili ya gadhabu, bali kwa kupata wokovu kwa njia ya Bwana Yesu Kristo.
10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.
Yeye ndiye aliyetufia ili kwamba, tukiwa macho au tumelala, tutaishi pamoja naye.
11 Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing.
Kwa hiyo, farijianeni na kujengana ninyi kwa ninyi, kama ambavyo tayari mnafanya.
12 But we ask you, brothers, to acknowledge those who work diligently among you, who preside over you in the Lord and give you instruction.
Ndugu, twawaomba muwatambue wale wanaotumika miongoni mwenu na wale walio juu yenu katika Bwana na wale wanao washauri.
13 In love, hold them in highest regard because of their work. Live in peace with one another.
Tunawaomba pia muwatambue na kuwapa heshima katika upendo kwa sababu ya kazi yao. Muwe na amani miongoni mwenu ninyi wenyewe.
14 And we urge you, brothers, to admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.
Twawasihi, ndugu: muwaonye wasio kwenda kwa utaratibu, watieni moyo walio kata tamaa, Wasaidieni walio wanyonge, na muwe wavumilivu kwa wote.
15 Make sure that no one repays evil for evil. Always pursue what is good for one another and for all people.
Angalieni asiwepo mtu yeyote anayelipa baya kwa baya kwa mtu yeyote. Badala yake, fanyeni yaliyo mema kwa kila mmoja wenu na kwa watu wote.
16 Rejoice at all times.
Furahini siku zote.
17 Pray without ceasing.
Ombeni bila kukoma.
18 Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Mshukuruni Mungu kwa kila jambo, kwa sababu hayo ndiyo mapenzi ya Mungu kwenu katika Yesu Kristo.
19 Do not extinguish the Spirit.
Msimzimishe Roho.
20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt,
Msiudharau unabii.
21 but test all things. Hold fast to what is good.
Yajaribuni mambo yote. Mlishike lililo jema.
22 Abstain from every form of evil.
Epukeni kila mwonekano wa uovu.
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mungu wa amani awakamilishe katika utakatifu. Roho, nafsi na mwili vitunzwe pasipo mawaa katika kuja kwake Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
24 The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.
Yeye aliyewaita ni mwaminifu, naye ndiye mwenye kutenda.
25 Brothers, pray for us as well.
Ndugu, tuombeeni pia.
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
Wasalimuni ndugu wote kwa busu takatifu.
27 I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers.
Nawasihi katika Bwana kwamba barua hii isomwe kwa ndugu wote.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Neema ya Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo iwe pamoja nanyi.
