1 Samuel 30
1 On the third day David and his men arrived in Ziklag, and the Amalekites had raided the Negev, attacked Ziklag, and burned it down.
A gdy trzeciego dnia Dawid i jego ludzie przybyli do Siklag, Amalekici najechali już na południe i na Siklag, zburzyli Siklag i spalili go ogniem;
2 They had taken captive the women and all who were there, both young and old. They had not killed anyone, but had carried them off as they went on their way.
I zabrali do niewoli kobiety, które w nim były. Nikogo nie zabili, od najmniejszego aż do wielkiego, ale uprowadzili [ich] i odeszli swoją drogą.
3 When David and his men came to the city, they found it burned down and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.
A gdy Dawid i jego ludzie przyszli do miasta, było ono spalone ogniem, a ich żony, synów i córki zabrano do niewoli.
4 So David and the troops with him lifted up their voices and wept until they had no strength left to weep.
Wtedy Dawid i lud, który z nim był, podnieśli swój głos i płakali, aż im zabrakło sił do płaczu.
5 David’s two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel, had been taken captive.
Zabrano do niewoli także obie żony Dawida: Achinoam Jizreelitkę i Abigail, [dawną] żonę Nabala z Karmelu.
6 And David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of every man grieved for his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
I Dawid znalazł się w wielkim utrapieniu, bo lud chciał go ukamienować. Dusza całego ludu bowiem była rozgoryczona z powodu swoich synów i córek. Dawid zaś wzmocnił się w PANU, swym Bogu.
7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought it to him,
Wtedy Dawid powiedział do kapłana Abiatara, syna Achimeleka: Przynieś mi, proszę, efod. I Abiatar przyniósł efod Dawidowi.
8 and David inquired of the LORD: “Should I pursue these raiders? Will I overtake them?” “Pursue them,” the LORD replied, “for you will surely overtake them and rescue the captives.”
I Dawid radził się PANA, pytając: Czy mam ścigać to wojsko? Czy je dogonię? PAN odpowiedział mu: Ścigaj, bo na pewno dogonisz i na pewno odbierzesz [łup].
9 So David and his six hundred men went to the Brook of Besor, where some stayed behind
Dawid wyruszył więc, on i sześciuset ludzi, których miał ze sobą, i dotarli do potoku Besor. Tam niektórzy pozostali.
10 because two hundred men were too exhausted to cross the brook. But David and four hundred men continued in pursuit.
Dawid zaś ścigał ich wraz z czterystu ludźmi. Dwustu ludzi bowiem pozostało, gdyż byli zbyt zmęczeni, żeby przejść przez potok Besor.
11 Now his men found an Egyptian in the field and brought him to David. They gave the man water to drink and food to eat—
A w polu natknęli się na Egipcjanina i przyprowadzili go do Dawida. Dali mu chleba i jadł, dali mu też wody i pił;
12 a piece of a fig cake and two clusters of raisins. So he ate and was revived, for he had not had any food or water for three days and three nights.
Dali mu także kawałek placka figowego i dwa pęczki rodzynków. Kiedy to zjadł, ożył w nim jego duch, gdyż przez trzy dni i trzy noce nie jadł chleba ani nie pił wody.
13 Then David asked him, “To whom do you belong, and where are you from?” “I am an Egyptian,” he replied, “the slave of an Amalekite. My master abandoned me three days ago when I fell ill.
Wtedy Dawid zapytał go: Do kogo należysz? Skąd jesteś? Odpowiedział: Jestem młodym Egipcjaninem, sługą Amalekity. Mój pan porzucił mnie, bo zachorowałem trzy dni temu.
14 We raided the Negev of the Cherethites, the territory of Judah, and the Negev of Caleb, and we burned down Ziklag.”
Najechaliśmy na południe od Keretytów, obszar Judy i na południe od Kaleba i podpaliliśmy Siklag ogniem.
15 “Will you lead me to these raiders?” David asked. And the man replied, “Swear to me by God that you will not kill me or deliver me into the hand of my master, and I will lead you to them.”
Dawid zapytał go: Czy mógłbyś mnie zaprowadzić do tej zgrai? Odpowiedział: Przysięgnij mi na Boga, że mnie nie zabijesz ani mnie nie wydasz w ręce mego pana, a zaprowadzę cię do tej zgrai.
16 So he led David down, and there were the Amalekites spread out over all the land, eating, drinking, and celebrating the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and the land of Judah.
I zaprowadził go, a oto byli rozproszeni po całej ziemi, jedli, pili i świętowali z powodu całego tego wielkiego łupu, który zabrali z ziemi Filistynów i z ziemi Judy.
17 And David struck them down from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man escaped, except four hundred young men who fled, riding off on camels.
I Dawid bił ich od zmierzchu aż do wieczora dnia następnego. Żaden z nich nie ocalał oprócz czterystu młodzieńców, którzy wsiedli na wielbłądy i uciekli.
18 So David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives.
Tak Dawid odzyskał wszystko, co zabrali Amalekici. Dawid uratował także swoje dwie żony.
19 Nothing was missing, young or old, son or daughter, or any of the plunder the Amalekites had taken. David brought everything back.
Nie zabrakło im nikogo, od najmniejszego do największego, ani synów, ani córek, ani łupu, ani niczego, co im zabrali. Dawid odzyskał wszystko.
20 And he recovered all the flocks and herds, which his men drove ahead of the other livestock, calling out, “This is David’s plunder!”
Potem Dawid zabrał wszystkie trzody i stada, które pędzono przed jego dobytkiem, i mówiono: To jest łup Dawida.
21 When David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him from the Brook of Besor, they came out to meet him and the troops with him. As David approached the men, he greeted them,
I Dawid przybył do tych dwustu ludzi, którzy byli tak zmęczeni, że nie mogli iść za Dawidem, i którym kazał zostać przy potoku Besor. Wyszli oni naprzeciw Dawida i naprzeciw ludzi, którzy z nim byli. A gdy Dawid zbliżył się do tych ludzi, pozdrowił ich.
22 but all the wicked and worthless men among those who had gone with David said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered, except for each man’s wife and children. They may take them and go.”
Lecz wszyscy źli ludzie i synowie Beliala, którzy poszli z Dawidem, powiedzieli: Ponieważ ci nie poszli z nami, nie damy im nic z łupu, który odzyskaliśmy, oddamy tylko każdemu jego żonę i dzieci. Niech ich wezmą i odejdą.
23 But David said, “My brothers, you must not do this with what the LORD has given us. He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiders who came against us.
Wtedy Dawid powiedział: Moi bracia, nie uczynicie tak z tym, co PAN nam dał. On nas strzegł i wydał w nasze ręce zgraję, która na nas napadła.
24 Who will listen to your proposal? The share of the one who went to battle will match the share of the one who stayed with the supplies. They will share alike.”
I któż was posłucha w tej sprawie? Bo jaki jest udział tego, który wyruszył na bitwę, taki też będzie udział tego, który został przy taborze; jednakowo się podzielą.
25 And so it has been from that day forward. David established this statute as an ordinance for Israel to this very day.
I tak zostało od tego dnia na przyszłość: ustalono to jako prawo i zwyczaj w Izraelu aż do dziś.
26 When David arrived in Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying, “Here is a gift for you from the plunder of the LORD’s enemies.”
A gdy Dawid przybył do Siklag, posłał część łupu starszym Judy, swym przyjaciołom, ze słowami: Oto błogosławieństwo dla was z łupu wrogów PANA;
27 He sent gifts to those in Bethel, Ramoth Negev, and Jattir;
Tym, którzy byli w Betel, i tym w Ramat na południu, i tym w Jattir;
28 to those in Aroer, Siphmoth, and Eshtemoa;
I tym w Aroerze, i tym w Sifmot, i tym w Esztemoa;
29 to those in Racal and in the cities of the Jerahmeelites and Kenites;
I tym w Rachal, i tym w miastach Jerachmeelitów, i tym w miastach Kenitów;
30 to those in Hormah, Bor-ashan, and Athach;
I tym w Chorma, i tym w Choraszan, i tym w Atach;
31 and to those in Hebron and in all the places where David and his men had roamed.
I tym w Hebronie, i tym we wszystkich miejscach, gdzie pomieszkiwał Dawid wraz ze swymi ludźmi.
