< 1 Samuel 30 >

1 On the third day David and his men arrived in Ziklag, and the Amalekites had raided the Negev, attacked Ziklag, and burned it down.
Daawitii fi namoonni isaa guyyaa sadaffaatti Xiiqlaag gaʼan. Yeroo sanattis Amaaleqoonni Negeebii fi Siiqlaagin weeraranii turan. Isaanis Xiiqlaagin dhaʼanii ibiddaan guban;
2 They had taken captive the women and all who were there, both young and old. They had not killed anyone, but had carried them off as they went on their way.
dubartootaa fi warra achi keessa turan hunda, dargaggeeyyii fi jaarsolii boojiʼan. Hunda isaanii fudhatanii deeman malee nama tokko illee hin ajjeefne.
3 When David and his men came to the city, they found it burned down and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.
Yommuu Daawitii fi namoonni isaa Siiqlaag dhufanitti magaalattiin ibiddaan gubamtee niitonni isaanii, ilmaan isaaniitii fi intallan isaanii hundinuu boojiʼamanii turan.
4 So David and the troops with him lifted up their voices and wept until they had no strength left to weep.
Kana irratti Daawitii fi namoonni isa wajjin turan hamma booʼuu dadhabanitti iyyanii booʼan.
5 David’s two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel, had been taken captive.
Niitonni Daawit lamaanuu jechuunis Ahiinooʼam Yizriʼeelittiinii fi Abiigayiil niitiin Naabaal namichi Qarmeloos sun irraa duʼe qabamanii turan.
6 And David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of every man grieved for his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
Daawit waan namoonni dhagaadhaan isa tumuuf mariʼachaa turaniif akka malee yaaddaʼe; tokkoon tokkoon namaa sababii ilmaanii fi intallan isaatiif garaan isaa gubatee ture. Daawit garuu Waaqayyo Waaqa isaatiin jabina argate.
7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought it to him,
Daawitis Abiyaataar lubicha ilma Ahiimelekiin, “Dirata sana naa fidi” jedhe. Abiyaataaris ni fideef;
8 and David inquired of the LORD: “Should I pursue these raiders? Will I overtake them?” “Pursue them,” the LORD replied, “for you will surely overtake them and rescue the captives.”
Daawitis, “Ani garee weerartootaa kana duukaa buʼuu? Ani isaan qaqqabuu nan dandaʼaa?” jedhee Waaqayyoon gaafate. Innis deebisee, “Isaan duukaa buʼaa; ni qaqqabdaatii; boojuu illee dhugumaan irraa buufatta” jedheen.
9 So David and his six hundred men went to the Brook of Besor, where some stayed behind
Daawitii fi namoonni isa wajjin turan dhibbi jaʼan gara Laga Besoor dhufan; gartokkeen isaaniis achitti hafan.
10 because two hundred men were too exhausted to cross the brook. But David and four hundred men continued in pursuit.
Namoonni dhibba lama waan akka malee dadhabaniif laga Besoor ceʼuu hin dandeenye. Daawitii fi namoonni dhibba afur garuu ittuma fufanii duukaa buʼan.
11 Now his men found an Egyptian in the field and brought him to David. They gave the man water to drink and food to eat—
Isaanis namicha Gibxi tokko dirree irratti arganii Daawititti fidanii bishaan inni dhuguu fi waan inni nyaatu kennaniif.
12 a piece of a fig cake and two clusters of raisins. So he ate and was revived, for he had not had any food or water for three days and three nights.
Akkasumas bixxillee harbuu cabaa tokkoo fi bixxillee ija wayinii lama kennaniif. Innis nyaatee lubbuun itti deebite; inni guyyaa sadii fi halkan sadii homaa hin nyaanne, bishaanis hin dhugne tureetii.
13 Then David asked him, “To whom do you belong, and where are you from?” “I am an Egyptian,” he replied, “the slave of an Amalekite. My master abandoned me three days ago when I fell ill.
Daawitis, “Ati kan eenyuu ti? Eessaa dhufte?” jedhee isa gaafate. Namichis akkana jedhe; “Ani nama biyya Gibxi; garbicha Amaaleqicha tokkoo ti. Gooftaan koo guyyaa sadiin dura ani fayyaa dhabnaan na gatee deeme.
14 We raided the Negev of the Cherethites, the territory of Judah, and the Negev of Caleb, and we burned down Ziklag.”
Nus Negeeb kan Kereetotaa, kutaa Yihuudaatii fi Negeeb Kaaleb weerarree Siiqlaagin ibiddaan gubne.”
15 “Will you lead me to these raiders?” David asked. And the man replied, “Swear to me by God that you will not kill me or deliver me into the hand of my master, and I will lead you to them.”
16 So he led David down, and there were the Amalekites spread out over all the land, eating, drinking, and celebrating the great amount of plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and the land of Judah.
Yommuu namichi sun iddoo isaan jiranitti Daawitin geessetti, Amaaleqoonni sababii boojuu guddaa biyya Filisxeemii fi Yihuudaatii fudhatan sanaatiif baadiyyaa keessa faffacaʼanii nyaachaa, dhugaa, sirbaas turan.
17 And David struck them down from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man escaped, except four hundred young men who fled, riding off on camels.
Daawitis galgala sanaa jalqabee hamma galgala guyyaa itti aanuutti isaan waraane; dargaggeeyyii dhibba afur kanneen gaalawwan yaabbatanii baqatan malee isaan keessaa namni tokko iyyuu hin miliqne.
18 So David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives.
Daawit waan Amaaleqoonni boojiʼan hunda harkaa buufate; niitota isaa lamaanis ni deebifate.
19 Nothing was missing, young or old, son or daughter, or any of the plunder the Amalekites had taken. David brought everything back.
Wanni tokko iyyuu hin hirʼanne; jechuunis dargaggeessi yookaan jaarsi, dhiirri yookaan durbi, wanni saamame yookaan wanni isaan fudhatan tokko iyyuu hin hirʼanne. Daawit waan hunda harkaa buufatee fide.
20 And he recovered all the flocks and herds, which his men drove ahead of the other livestock, calling out, “This is David’s plunder!”
Innis bushaayee fi loon isaanii hunda fudhate; namoonni isaas, “Kun boojuu Daawit” jechaa fuula horii kaanii dura isaan oofan.
21 When David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him from the Brook of Besor, they came out to meet him and the troops with him. As David approached the men, he greeted them,
Daawit gara namoota dhibba lamaan akka malee dadhabanii isa duukaa buʼuu hin dandaʼin kanneen Laga Besoor biratti duubatti hafan sanaa dhufe. Isaanis Daawitii fi namoota isaa simachuu gad buʼan. Daawitis yeroo namoota sanatti dhiʼaatetti nagaa isaan gaafate.
22 but all the wicked and worthless men among those who had gone with David said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered, except for each man’s wife and children. They may take them and go.”
Garuu namoonni hamoonii fi warri rakkina uuman kanneen duukaa buutota Daawit wajjin turan hundi, “Waan isaan nu wajjin hin duuliniif nu boojuu deebifanne kana isaan wajjin hin qooddannu. Taʼus tokkoon tokkoon isaanii niitii fi ijoollee isaanii fudhatanii haa deeman” jedhan.
23 But David said, “My brothers, you must not do this with what the LORD has given us. He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiders who came against us.
Daawit immoo akkana jedhee deebise; “Lakkisaa, yaa obboloota ko, isin waan Waaqayyo nuuf kenne irratti waan akkanaa gochuu hin qabdan. Inni nu eegee waraana nutti dhufe illee dabarsee harka keenyatti kenneera.
24 Who will listen to your proposal? The share of the one who went to battle will match the share of the one who stayed with the supplies. They will share alike.”
Eenyutu waan isin jettan kana dhagaʼa? Qoodni namicha miʼa eeguu, qooda namicha duula dhaqeetiin tokkuma. Isaan hundi haaluma tokkoon qooddatu.”
25 And so it has been from that day forward. David established this statute as an ordinance for Israel to this very day.
Daawitis gaafasii jalqabee hamma harʼaatti waan kana seeraa fi sirna godhee saba Israaʼeliif dhaabe.
26 When David arrived in Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying, “Here is a gift for you from the plunder of the LORD’s enemies.”
Daawit yommuu Siiqlaag gaʼetti, “Kun kennaa boojuu diinota Waaqayyoo keessaa isinii kennamee dha” jedhee maanguddoota Yihuudaa kanneen michoota isaa turaniif boojuu sana irraa erge.
27 He sent gifts to those in Bethel, Ramoth Negev, and Jattir;
Boojuu sanas warra Beetʼeelitti argamaniif, warra Raamoot Negeebii fi Yatiir turaniif,
28 to those in Aroer, Siphmoth, and Eshtemoa;
warra Aroʼeer, warra Siifmoot, Eshtimoʼaa,
29 to those in Racal and in the cities of the Jerahmeelites and Kenites;
warra Raakaal akkasumas warra magaalaa Yeramiʼeelotaatii fi magaalaa Qeenotaa keessa jiraataniif,
30 to those in Hormah, Bor-ashan, and Athach;
warra Hormaa, warra Boor Aashaan, warra Ataak,
31 and to those in Hebron and in all the places where David and his men had roamed.
warra Kebroon akkasumas iddoowwan Daawitii fi namoonni isaa keessa nanaannaʼan hunda jiraataniif erge.
