1 Samuel 29

1 Now the Philistines brought all their forces together at Aphek, while Israel camped by the spring in Jezreel.

Entonces los filisteos reunieron a todo su ejército en Afec, y los israelitas acamparon junto al manantial en Jezreel.

2 As the Philistine leaders marched out their units of hundreds and thousands, David and his men marched behind them with Achish.

Y los gobernantes de los filisteos continuaron con sus centenares y sus miles, y David y sus hombres vinieron después con Aquis.

3 Then the commanders of the Philistines asked, “What about these Hebrews?” Achish replied, “Is this not David, the servant of King Saul of Israel? He has been with me all these days, even years, and from the day he defected until today I have found no fault in him.”

Entonces los gobernantes de los filisteos dijeron: ¿Qué están haciendo aquí estos hebreos? Y Aquis dijo a los gobernantes de los filisteos: ¿No es éste David, el siervo de Saúl, el rey de Israel, que ha estado conmigo durante un año o dos, y nunca he visto nada malo en él desde el momento en que vino a mi hasta ahora?

4 But the commanders of the Philistines were angry with Achish and told him, “Send that man back and let him return to the place you assigned him. He must not go down with us into battle only to become our adversary during the war. What better way for him to regain the favor of his master than with the heads of our men?

Más los gobernantes de los filisteos se enojaron con él y le dijeron: Haz que el hombre regrese al lugar que le diste; no lo dejes ir con nosotros a la lucha, o puede volverse contra nosotros en medio de la batalla con nosotros. ¿Como hará el hombre paz con su señor? ¿No sería con las cabezas de estos hombres?

5 Is this not the David about whom they sing in their dances: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands’?”

¿No es este David, que fue nombrado en sus canciones, cuando en el baile se dijeron unos a otros, Saúl ha matado a miles y David a decenas de miles?

6 So Achish summoned David and told him, “As surely as the LORD lives, you have been upright in my sight, and it seems right that you should march in and out with me in the army, because I have found no fault in you from the day you came to me until this day. But you have no favor in the sight of the leaders.

Entonces Aquis mandó llamar a David y le dijo: como el Señor vive, tú eres recto, y todo lo que has hecho conmigo; tu salir y entrar en el ejército me ha agradado; desde el día en que llegaste no he visto mal en ti. Cuando viniste a mí hasta ahora; pero aún así, los jefes no están contentos contigo.

7 Therefore turn back now and go in peace, so that you will not do anything to displease the leaders of the Philistines.”

Ahora regresa, y ve en paz, para que no hagas enojar a los jefes de los filisteos.

8 “But what have I done?” David replied. “What have you found against your servant, from the day I came to you until today, to keep me from going along to fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”

Y David dijo a Aquis: ¿Y qué he hecho? ¿Qué has visto en tu siervo mientras estuve contigo hasta el día de hoy, para no ir y tomar las armas contra los que ahora están haciendo la guerra a mi señor el rey?

9 Achish replied, “I know that you are as pleasing in my sight as an angel of God. But the commanders of the Philistines have said, ‘He must not go into battle with us.’

En respuesta, Aquis dijo: Es cierto que a mis ojos eres bueno, como un ángel de Dios; pero aún así, los gobernantes de los filisteos han dicho: “Él no debe subir con nosotros a la lucha”.

10 Now then, get up early in the morning, along with your master’s servants who came with you, and go as soon as it is light.”

Así que levántate temprano por la mañana, con los sirvientes de tu señor que están contigo, y ve al lugar que te he dado. Temprano en la mañana, al amanecer váyanse.

11 So David and his men got up early in the morning to return to the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

Entonces, David y sus hombres se levantaron temprano por la mañana para regresar a la tierra de los filisteos. Y los filisteos subieron a Jezreel.
