1 Samuel 27
1 David, however, said to himself, “One of these days now I will be swept away by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will stop searching for me all over Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.”
達味心裏想：「終有一天我會落在撒烏耳手中，倒不如逃到培肋舍特 中去，使撒烏耳絕望，再不在全以色列境內找我，我方能擺脫他的毒手」。
2 So David set out with his six hundred men and went to Achish son of Maoch, the king of Gath.
達味遂帶了他那六百人，動身往加特王瑪敖客的兒子阿基士那裏去。
3 David and his men settled in Gath with Achish. Each man had his family with him, and David had his two wives: Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail of Carmel, the widow of Nabal.
達味和他的兩個妻子：依次勒耳人阿希諾罕與曾作加爾默耳人納巴耳妻子的阿彼蓋耳，他的部隊，以及他們的眷屬，同阿基士一起住在加特。
4 And when Saul learned that David had fled to Gath, he no longer searched for him.
有人告訴撒烏耳，達味逃到加特去了，撒烏耳就再不去搜他。
5 Then David said to Achish, “If I have found favor in your eyes, let me be assigned a place in one of the outlying towns, so I can live there. For why should your servant live in the royal city with you?”
達味向阿基士說：「假使我在你眼中獲得寵幸，請在鄉間城鎮裏給 戈一塊地方，叫我住在；為什麼你的僕人要同你一起住在京城內呢﹖」
6 That day Achish gave him Ziklag, and to this day it still belongs to the kings of Judah.
那一天，阿基士就將漆刻拉格賜他；因此漆刻拉格直到今天還屬猶大王。
7 And the time that David lived in Philistine territory amounted to a year and four months.
達味住在培肋舍特人地方，共計一年零四個月。
8 Now David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites. (From ancient times these people had inhabited the land extending to Shur and Egypt.)
達味帶著他的人上去，襲擊了革叔爾人、基爾齊人和阿瑪肋克人。這些民族所住的地方，是從特郎經叔爾直到埃及地。
9 Whenever David attacked a territory, he did not leave a man or woman alive, but he took the flocks and herds, the donkeys, camels, and clothing. Then he would return to Achish,
當達味攻擊那地方時，沒有讓那裏的男女生存，只把牛、羊、驢、駱馲和衣服搶來，帶回交給阿基士王。
10 who would ask him, “What have you raided today?” And David would reply, “The Negev of Judah,” or “The Negev of Jerahmeel,” or “The Negev of the Kenites.”
每當阿基士間說：「今天你們襲擊了什麼地方﹖」時，達味總是答說：「襲擊了猶大的南方，刻尼人的南方」。
11 David did not leave a man or woman alive to be brought to Gath, for he said, “Otherwise they will report us, saying, ‘This is what David did.’” And this was David’s custom the whole time he lived in Philistine territory.
達味沒有讓那裏的男女活著帶回加特來，因為達味想：「怕他們對我們不利的宣傳說：達味這樣對待了我們」。這是他住在培肋舍特地方整個時期內的作風。
12 So Achish trusted David, thinking, “Since he has made himself an utter stench to his people Israel, he will be my servant forever.”
阿基士相信了達味，心中想：「他在自己民族以色列人中，已留下臭名，他要永久作我的奴隸了」。
