1 Samuel 22

1 So David left Gath and took refuge in the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and the rest of his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there.

David ging nun von dort weg und rettete sich in die Höhle Adullam. Dies hörten seine Brüder und sein ganzes Vaterhaus und sie zogen zu ihm dorthin hinab.

2 And all who were distressed or indebted or discontented rallied around him, and he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.

Um ihn scharten sich auch allerlei Bedrängte und alle, die einen Gläubiger hatten, und alle Unzufriedenen. So ward er ihr Anführer, und bei ihm waren an 400 Mann.

3 From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab, where he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and mother stay with you until I learn what God will do for me.”

Von da ging David nach der Mispa in Moab; da sprach er zu Moabs König: "Dürften nicht mein Vater und meine Mutter bei euch bleiben, bis ich weiß, was Gott mit mir vorhat?"

4 So he left them in the care of the king of Moab, and they stayed with him the whole time David was in the stronghold.

Also ließ er sie beim König von Moab. Und sie wohnten bei ihm, solange David auf der Bergfeste war.

5 Then the prophet Gad said to David, “Do not stay in the stronghold. Depart and go into the land of Judah.” So David left and went to the forest of Hereth.

Da sprach der Prophet Gat zu David: "Du darfst nicht auf der Bergfeste bleiben. Auf! Kehr zurück ins Land Juda!" Da machte sich David auf den Weg und kam in den Wald von Cheret.

6 Soon Saul learned that David and his men had been discovered. At that time Saul was in Gibeah, sitting under the tamarisk tree on the hill at Gibeah, with his spear in hand and all his servants standing around him.

Da hörte Saul, daß David und die Leute bei ihm entdeckt seien. Saul aber saß eben auf der Gibea unter der Tamariske auf der Höhe, den Speer in der Hand, und alle seine Diener standen um ihn.

7 Then Saul said to his servants, “Listen, men of Benjamin! Is the son of Jesse giving all of you fields and vineyards and making you commanders of thousands or hundreds?

Da sprach Saul zu seinen Dienern, die ihn umstanden: "Hört doch, ihr Söhne Benjamins! Schenkt irgendeinem von euch der Isaisohn Felder und Weinberge und macht er irgendeinen von euch zum Hauptmann über Tausend und Hundert,

8 Is that why all of you have conspired against me? Not one of you told me that my own son had made a covenant with the son of Jesse. Not one of you has shown concern for me or revealed to me that my son has stirred up my own servant to lie in wait against me, as is the case today.”

daß ihr euch alle gegen mich verschworen habt und keiner mir angezeigt hat, daß sich mein Sohn mit dem Sohne Isais verbündete, und daß sich keiner von euch meinetwegen härmte und mir anzeigte, daß mein Sohn meinen Sklaven gegen mich zum Lauern aufgehetzt hat, wie es jetzt ist?"

9 But Doeg the Edomite, who had stationed himself with Saul’s servants, answered: “I saw the son of Jesse come to Ahimelech son of Ahitub at Nob.

Da hob der Edomiter Doëg an - er stand nämlich bei Sauls Dienern -: "Ich habe gesehen, wie der Isaisohn nach Nob zu Achitubs Sohn Achimelek gekommen ist.

10 Ahimelech inquired of the LORD for him and gave him provisions. He also gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”

Und dieser fragte für ihn den Herrn; auch Zehrung hat er ihm gegeben. Ebenso hat er ihm das Schwert des Philisters Goliat gegeben."

11 Then the king sent messengers to summon Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and his father’s whole family, who were priests at Nob. And all of them came to the king.

Da entbot der König den Priester Achimelek, Achitubs Sohn, und sein ganzes Vaterhaus, die Priester zu Nob. Und sie kamen alle zum König.

12 “Listen now, son of Ahitub,” said Saul. “Here I am, my lord,” he replied.

Da sprach Saul: "Hör einmal, Sohn Achitubs!" Er sprach: "Ja, Herr!"

13 And Saul asked him, “Why have you and the son of Jesse conspired against me? You gave him bread and a sword and inquired of God for him so that he could rise up against me to lie in wait, as he is doing today.”

Da sprach Saul zu ihm: "Warum habt ihr euch gegen mich verschworen, du und Isais Sohn? Du gabst ihm Brot und Schwert und befragtest für ihn Gott. So konnte er gegen mich als Lauerer auftreten, wie es jetzt der Fall ist.

14 Ahimelech answered the king, “Who among all your servants is as faithful as David, the king’s son-in-law, the captain of your bodyguard who is honored in your house?

Da erwiderte Achimelek dem König und sprach: "Aber wer ist unter all deinen Dienern so treu wie David? Dazu des Königs Schwiegersohn und auserwählt für deine Leibwache und geehrt in deinem Hause!

15 Was that day the first time I inquired of God for him? Far be it from me! Let not the king accuse your servant or any of my father’s household, for your servant knew nothing of this whole affair—not in part or in whole.”

Habe ich erst heute angefangen, für ihn Gott zu befragen? Das sei ferne von mir! Lege der König seinem Sklaven und dessen ganzem väterlichen Hause nichts zur Last! Denn dein Sklave hat von all dem nichts gewußt, weder Unwichtiges noch Wichtiges."

16 But the king replied, “You will surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s house!”

Da sprach der König: "Du mußt sterben, Achimelek, du und dein ganzes väterliches Haus."

17 Then the king ordered the guards at his side, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because they too sided with David. For they knew he was fleeing, but they did not tell me.” But the king’s servants would not lift a hand to strike the priests of the LORD.

Und der König sprach zu den Läufern, die ihn umstanden: "Tretet her und tötet die Priester des Herrn! Denn auch sie halten es mit David. Sie haben gewußt, daß er auf der Flucht war, und haben mir nichts angezeigt." Aber die Diener des Königs weigerten sich, Hand anzulegen und des Herrn Priester niederzustoßen.

18 So the king ordered Doeg, “You turn and strike down the priests!” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests himself. On that day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.

Da sprach der König zu Doëg: "Tritt du her und stoße die Priester nieder!" Da trat der Edomiter Doëg hinzu. Und dieser stieß die Priester nieder. Er tötete an jenem Tage 85 Männer, die das linnene Ephod trugen.

19 He also put to the sword Nob, the city of the priests, with its men and women, children and infants, oxen, donkeys, and sheep.

Auch die Priesterstadt Nob schlug er mit des Schwertes Schärfe, Männer und Weiber, Knaben und Säuglinge, ebenso Rinder, Esel und Schafe mit des Schwertes Schärfe.

20 But one of the sons of Ahimelech son of Ahitub escaped. His name was Abiathar, and he fled to David.

Nur ein Sohn des Achitubsohnes Achimelek, namens Ebjatar, entkam. Er floh zu David.

21 And Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the priests of the LORD.

Und Ebjatar meldete David. "Saul hat die Priester des Herrn ermordet."

22 Then David said to Abiathar, “I knew that Doeg the Edomite was there that day, and that he was sure to tell Saul. I myself am responsible for the lives of everyone in your father’s house.

Da sprach David zu Ebjatar: "Ich habe es damals geahnt, weil der Edomiter Doëg dort war, daß er es Saul verriete. Ich räche jede Seele in deines Vaters Haus.

23 Stay with me; do not be afraid, for he who seeks your life is seeking mine as well. You will be safe with me.”

Bleib bei mir! Hab keine Furcht! Denn der sucht wahrlich mein Leben, der das deine sucht. Denn du bist mir ein Ehrenpfand."
