< 1 Samuel 2 >

1 At that time Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the LORD in whom my horn is exalted. My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, for I rejoice in Your salvation.
2 There is no one holy like the LORD. Indeed, there is no one besides You! And there is no Rock like our God.
“Kò sí ẹni tí ó mọ́ bi Olúwa; kò sí ẹlòmíràn bí kò ṣe ìwọ; kò sì sí àpáta bi Ọlọ́run wa.
3 Do not boast so proudly, or let arrogance come from your mouth, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by Him actions are weighed.
“Má ṣe halẹ̀; má ṣe jẹ́ kí ìgbéraga ti ẹnu yín jáde nítorí pé Ọlọ́run olùmọ̀ ni Olúwa, láti ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ wá ni a ti ń wọn ìwà.
4 The bows of the mighty are broken, but the feeble are equipped with strength.
“Ọ̀run àwọn alágbára ti ṣẹ́, àwọn tí ó ṣe aláìlera ni a fi agbára dì ní àmùrè.
5 The well-fed hire themselves out for food, but the starving hunger no more. The barren woman gives birth to seven, but she who has many sons pines away.
Àwọn tí ó yọ̀ fún oúnjẹ ti fi ara wọn ṣe alágbàṣe, àwọn tí ebi ń pa kò sì ṣe aláìní. Tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí àgàn fi bí méje. Ẹni tí ó bímọ púpọ̀ sì di aláìlágbára.
6 The LORD brings death and gives life; He brings down to Sheol and raises up. (Sheol h7585)
“Olúwa pa ó sì sọ di ààyè; ó mú sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí isà òkú, ó sì gbé dìde. (Sheol h7585)
7 The LORD sends poverty and wealth; He humbles and He exalts.
Olúwa sọ di tálákà; ó sì sọ di ọlọ́rọ̀; ó rẹ̀ sílẹ̀, ó sì gbé sókè.
8 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap. He seats them among princes and bestows on them a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s, and upon them He has set the world.
Ó gbé tálákà sókè láti inú erùpẹ̀ wá, ó gbé alágbe sókè láti orí òkìtì eérú wá, láti mú wọn jókòó pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ-aládé, láti mu wọn jogún ìtẹ́ ògo, “Nítorí pé ọ̀wọ́n ayé ti Olúwa ni, ó sì ti gbé ayé ka orí wọn.
9 He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness; for by his own strength shall no man prevail.
Yóò pa ẹsẹ̀ àwọn ènìyàn mímọ́ rẹ̀ mọ́, àwọn ènìyàn búburú ni yóò dákẹ́ ní òkùnkùn. “Nípa agbára kò sí ọkùnrin tí yóò borí.
10 Those who oppose the LORD will be shattered. He will thunder from heaven against them. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth and will give power to His king. He will exalt the horn of His anointed.”
A ó fọ́ àwọn ọ̀tá Olúwa túútúú; láti ọ̀run wá ni yóò sán àrá sí wọn; Olúwa yóò ṣe ìdájọ́ òpin ayé. “Yóò fi agbára fún ọba rẹ̀, yóò si gbé ìwo ẹni àmì òróró rẹ̀ sókè.”
11 Then Elkanah went home to Ramah, but the boy began ministering to the LORD before Eli the priest.
Elkana sì lọ sí Rama, sí ilé rẹ̀, ọmọ náà sì ń ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún Olúwa níwájú Eli àlùfáà.
12 Now the sons of Eli were wicked men; they had no regard for the LORD
Àwọn ọmọ Eli sì jẹ́ ọmọ Beliali; wọn kò mọ Olúwa.
13 or for the custom of the priests with the people. When any man offered a sacrifice, the servant of the priest would come with a three-pronged meat fork while the meat was boiling
Iṣẹ́ àwọn àlùfáà pẹ̀lú àwọn ènìyàn ni pé nígbà tí ẹnìkan bá ṣe ìrúbọ, ìránṣẹ́ àlùfáà á dé, nígbà tí ẹran náà bá ń hó lórí iná, pẹ̀lú ọ̀pá-ẹran náà oníga mẹ́ta ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀.
14 and plunge it into the pan or kettle or cauldron or cooking pot. And the priest would claim for himself whatever the meat fork brought up. This is how they treated all the Israelites who came to Shiloh.
Òun a sì fi gún inú apẹ, tàbí àgé tàbí ọpọ́n, tàbí ìkòkò, gbogbo èyí tí ọ̀pá-ẹran oníga náà bá mú wá sí òkè, àlùfáà á mú un fún ara rẹ̀. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n ń ṣe sí gbogbo Israẹli tí ó wá sí ibẹ̀ ní Ṣilo.
15 Even before the fat was burned, the servant of the priest would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast, because he will not accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”
Pẹ̀lú, kí wọn tó sun ọ̀rá náà, ìránṣẹ́ àlùfáà á dé, á sì wí fún ọkùnrin tí ó ń ṣe ìrúbọ pé, “Fi ẹran fún mi láti sun fún àlùfáà; nítorí tí kì yóò gba ẹran sísè lọ́wọ́ rẹ, bí kò ṣe tútù.”
16 And if any man said to him, “The fat must be burned first; then you may take whatever you want,” the servant would reply, “No, you must give it to me right now. If you refuse, I will take it by force!”
Bí ọkùnrin náà bá sì wí fún un pé, “Jẹ́ kí wọn ó sun ọ̀rá náà nísinsin yìí, kí o sì mú iyekíye tí ọkàn rẹ̀ bá fẹ́,” nígbà náà ni yóò dá a lóhùn pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, ṣùgbọ́n kí ìwọ ó fi í fún mi nísinsin yìí, bí kó ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀, èmi ó fi agbára gbà á.”
17 Thus the sin of these young men was severe in the sight of the LORD, for they were treating the LORD’s offering with contempt.
Ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àwọn ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin náà sì tóbi gidigidi níwájú Olúwa: nítorí tí àwọn ènìyàn kórìíra ẹbọ Olúwa.
18 Now Samuel was ministering before the LORD—a boy wearing a linen ephod.
Ṣùgbọ́n Samuẹli ń ṣe ìránṣẹ́ níwájú Olúwa, ọmọdé, ti a wọ̀ ní efodu ọ̀gbọ̀.
19 Each year his mother would make him a little robe and bring it to him when she went with her husband to offer the annual sacrifice.
Pẹ̀lúpẹ̀lú, ìyá rẹ̀ máa ń dá aṣọ ìlekè péńpé fún un, a sì máa mú wá fún un lọ́dọọdún, nígbà tí ó bá bá ọkọ rẹ̀ gòkè wá láti ṣe ìrúbọ ọdún.
20 And Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, saying, “May the LORD give you children by this woman in place of the one she dedicated to the LORD.” Then they would go home.
Eli súre fún Elkana àti aya rẹ̀ pé, “Kí Olúwa fún ọ ní irú-ọmọ láti ara obìnrin yìí wá, nítorí ẹ̀bùn tí ó béèrè tí ó sì tún fún Olúwa.” Wọ́n sì lọ sí ilé wọn.
21 So the LORD attended to Hannah, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the LORD.
Olúwa si bojú wo Hana, ó sì lóyún, ó bí ọmọkùnrin mẹ́ta àti ọmọbìnrin méjì. Samuẹli ọmọ náà sì ń dàgbà níwájú Olúwa.
22 Now Eli was very old, and he heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they were sleeping with the women who served at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
Eli sì di arúgbó gidigidi, ó sì gbọ́ gbogbo èyí ti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ ṣe sí gbogbo Israẹli; àti bi wọ́n ti máa ń bá àwọn obìnrin sùn, tí wọ́n máa ń péjọ ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà àgọ́ àjọ.
23 “Why are you doing these things?” Eli said to his sons. “I hear about your wicked deeds from all these people.
Ó sì wí fún wọn pé, kí ni ó ti ri “Èétirí tí èmi fi ń gbọ́ irú nǹkan bẹ́ẹ̀ sí yín? Nítorí tí èmi ń gbọ́ iṣẹ́ búburú yín láti ọ̀dọ̀ gbogbo ènìyàn.
24 No, my sons; it is not a good report I hear circulating among the LORD’s people.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́ ẹ̀yin ọmọ mi, nítorí kì ṣe ìròyìn rere èmi gbọ́; ẹ̀yin mú ènìyàn Olúwa dẹ́ṣẹ̀.
25 If a man sins against another man, God can intercede for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to their father, since the LORD intended to put them to death.
26 And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the LORD and with man.
Ọmọ náà Samuẹli ń dàgbà, ó sì rí ojúrere lọ́dọ̀ Olúwa, àti ènìyàn pẹ̀lú.
27 Then a man of God came to Eli and told him, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Did I not clearly reveal Myself to your father’s house when they were in Egypt under Pharaoh’s house?
Ènìyàn Ọlọ́run kan tọ Eli wá, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Báyìí ni Olúwa wí, ‘Èmi fi ara mi hàn ní gbangba fún ilé baba rẹ, nígbà tí wọ́n ń bẹ ní Ejibiti nínú ilé Farao.
28 And out of all the tribes of Israel I selected your father to be My priest, to offer sacrifices on My altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod in My presence. I also gave to the house of your father all the offerings of the Israelites made by fire.
Èmi sì yàn án kúrò láàrín gbogbo ẹ̀yà Israẹli láti jẹ́ àlùfáà mi, láti rú ẹbọ lórí pẹpẹ mi, láti fi tùràrí jóná, láti wọ efodu níwájú mi, èmi sì fi gbogbo ẹbọ tí ọmọ Israẹli máa ń fi iná sun fún ìdílé baba rẹ̀.
29 Why then do you kick at My sacrifice and offering that I have prescribed for My dwelling place? You have honored your sons more than Me by fattening yourselves with the best of all the offerings of My people Israel.’
Èéha ṣe tí ẹ̀yin fi tàpá sí ẹbọ àti ọrẹ mi, tí mo pàṣẹ ní ibùjókòó mi, ìwọ sì bu ọlá fún àwọn ọmọ rẹ jù mí lọ, tí ẹ sì fi gbogbo àṣàyàn ẹbọ Israẹli àwọn ènìyàn mi mú ara yín sanra.’
30 Therefore, the LORD, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I did indeed say that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever. But now the LORD declares: Far be it from Me! For I will honor those who honor Me, but those who despise Me will be disdained.
“Nítorí náà Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli wí pé, ‘Èmi ti wí nítòótọ́ pé, ilé rẹ àti ilé baba rẹ, yóò máa rìn níwájú mi títí.’ Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí Olúwa wí pé, ‘Kí á má rí i! Àwọn tí ó bú ọlá fún mi ni èmi yóò bu ọlá fún, àti àwọn tí kò kà mí sí ni a ó sì ṣe aláìkàsí.
31 Behold, the days are coming when I will cut off your strength and the strength of your father’s house, so that no older man will be left in your house.
Kíyèsi i, àwọn ọjọ́ ń bọ̀ tí èmi ó gé agbára rẹ kúrò, àti agbára baba rẹ, tí kì yóò sí arúgbó kan nínú ilé rẹ.
32 You will see distress in My dwelling place. Despite all that is good in Israel, no one in your house will ever again reach old age.
Ìwọ yóò rí wàhálà ti Àgọ́, nínú gbogbo ọlá tí Ọlọ́run yóò fi fún Israẹli; kì yóò sí arúgbó kan nínú ilé rẹ láéláé.
33 And every one of you that I do not cut off from My altar, your eyes will fail and your heart will grieve. All your descendants will die by the sword of men.
Ọkùnrin tí ó jẹ́ tìrẹ, tí èmi kì yóò gé kúrò ní ibi pẹpẹ mi ni a ó dá sí láti sọkún yọ lójú àti láti banújẹ́. Ṣùgbọ́n gbogbo irú-ọmọ ilé rẹ̀ ni a ó fi idà pa ní ààbọ̀ ọjọ́ wọn.
34 And this sign shall come to you concerning your two sons Hophni and Phinehas: They will both die on the same day.
“‘Kí ni ohun tí ó ṣẹlẹ̀ sí àwọn ọmọ ọkùnrin rẹ̀ méjèèjì, Hofini àti Finehasi, yóò jẹ́ àmì fún ọ—àwọn méjèèjì yóò kú ní ọjọ́ kan náà.
35 Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest. He will do whatever is in My heart and mind. And I will build for him an enduring house, and he will walk before My anointed one for all time.
Èmi yóò dìde fún ara mi láti gbé àlùfáà olódodo dìde fún ara mi, ẹni tí yóò ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí ohun tí ó wà ní ọkàn mi àti inú mi. Èmi yóò fi ẹsẹ̀ ilé rẹ̀ múlẹ̀ gbọningbọnin òun yóò sì ṣe òjíṣẹ́ níwájú ẹni òróró mi ní ọjọ́ gbogbo.
36 And everyone left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver or a morsel of bread, pleading, “Please appoint me to some priestly office so that I can eat a piece of bread.”’”
Nígbà náà olúkúlùkù ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá kù ní ìdílé yín, yóò jáde wá yóò sì foríbalẹ̀ níwájú rẹ̀ nítorí ẹyọ fàdákà àti nítorí èépá àkàrà àti ẹ̀bẹ̀ pé, “Jọ̀wọ́ yàn mí sí ọ̀kan nínú iṣẹ́ àwọn àlùfáà, kí èmi kí ó le máa rí oúnjẹ jẹ.”’”
