1 Samuel 12
1 Then Samuel said to all Israel, “I have listened to your voice in all that you have said to me, and I have set over you a king.
১পরে শমূয়েল সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলকে বললেন, “দেখ, তোমরা আমাকে যা যা বললে, আমি তোমাদের সেই সব কথা শুনে তোমাদের উপরে এক জনকে রাজা করলাম৷
2 Now here is the king walking before you, and I am old and gray, and my sons are here with you. I have walked before you from my youth until this day.
২এখন দেখ, রাজা তোমাদের সামনে যাতায়াত করছেন; কিন্তু আমার বয়স হয়েছে ও চুল সাদা হয়েছে; আর দেখ, আমার ছেলেরা তোমাদের সঙ্গে আছে এবং আমি ছেলেবেলা থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত তোমাদের সামনে যাতায়াত করে আসছি৷
3 Here I am. Bear witness against me before the LORD and before His anointed: Whose ox or donkey have I taken? Whom have I cheated or oppressed? From whose hand have I accepted a bribe and closed my eyes? Tell me, and I will restore it to you.”
৩আমি এই জায়গায় আছি; তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর সামনে এবং তাঁর অভিষিক্ত ব্যক্তির সামনে আমার বিরুদ্ধে সাক্ষ্য দিয়ে বল দেখি, আমি কার গরু নিয়েছি? কার গাধা নিয়েছি? কাকে তাড়না করেছি? কার উপরেই বা অত্যাচার করেছি? কিংবা নিজের চোখ অন্ধ করার জন্য ঘুষ নিয়েছি? আমি তোমাদের তা ফিরিয়ে দেব৷”
4 “You have not wronged us or oppressed us,” they replied, “nor have you taken anything from the hand of man.”
৪তারা বলল, “আপনি আমাদের প্রতি তাড়না করেননি, আমাদের উপরে অত্যাচার করেননি, কার হাত থেকে কিছু নেন নি৷”
5 Samuel said to them, “The LORD is a witness against you, and His anointed is a witness today, that you have not found anything in my hand.” “He is a witness,” they replied.
৫তিনি তাদেরকে বললেন, “তোমরা আমার হাতে কোনো জিনিস পাওনি, এ বিষয়ে আজ তোমাদের বিপক্ষে সদাপ্রভু সাক্ষী এবং তাঁর অভিষিক্ত ব্যক্তি সাক্ষী৷” তারা উত্তর দিল, “তিনি সাক্ষী৷”
6 Then Samuel said to the people, “The LORD is the One who appointed Moses and Aaron, and who brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.
৬পরে শমূয়েল লোকদেরকে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভুই মোশি ও হারোণকে উত্পন্ন করেছিলেন এবং তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে (পিতা) মিশর দেশ থেকে বের করে এনেছেন৷
7 Now present yourselves, so that I may confront you before the LORD with all the righteous acts He has done for you and your fathers.
৭তোমরা এখন দাড়াও; তোমাদের প্রতি ও তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের প্রতি সদাপ্রভু যে সব ভালো কাজ করেছেন, সেই বিষয়ে আমি সদাপ্রভুর সামনে তোমাদের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করব৷
8 When Jacob went to Egypt, your fathers cried out to the LORD, and He sent them Moses and Aaron, who brought your fathers out of Egypt and settled them in this place.
৮যাকোব মিশরে যাওয়ার পর যখন তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে কেঁদেছিল, তখন সদাপ্রভু মোশি ও হারোণকে পাঠান; আর তাঁরা মিশর থেকে তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে বের করে আনলেন এবং এই জায়গায় তাদেরকে বাস করালেন৷
9 But they forgot the LORD their God, and He sold them into the hand of Sisera the commander of the army of Hazor, and into the hands of the Philistines and the king of Moab, who fought against them.
৯কিন্তু লোকেরা নিজেদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে ভুলে গেল, আর তিনি হাৎসোরের (বাল দেবের স্ত্রী) সেনাপতি সীষরার হাতে, পলেষ্টীয়দের হাতে ও মোয়াবরাজের হাতে তাদেরকে বিক্রয় করলেন এবং এরা তাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করল৷”
10 Then they cried out to the LORD and said, ‘We have sinned, for we have forsaken the LORD and served the Baals and Ashtoreths. Now deliver us from the hands of our enemies, that we may serve You.’
১০তখন তারা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে কেঁদে বলল, “আমরা পাপ করেছি, আমরা সদাপ্রভুকে ত্যাগ করে বালদেবতাদের ও অস্টারোৎ দেবীদের সেবা করেছি; কিন্তু এখন তুমি শত্রুদের হাত থেকে আমাদের উদ্ধার কর, আমরা তোমার সেবা করব৷
11 So the LORD sent Jerubbaal, Barak, Jephthah, and Samuel, and He delivered you from the hands of your enemies on every side, and you dwelt securely.
১১পরে সদাপ্রভু যিরুব্বাল (গিদিয়ন), বদান, যিপ্তহ ও শমূয়েলকে পাঠিয়ে তোমাদের চারদিকের শত্রুদের হাত থেকে তোমাদের উদ্ধার করলেন; তাহাতে তোমরা নির্ভয়ে বাস করলে৷
12 But when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites was moving against you, you said to me, ‘No, we must have a king to rule over us’—even though the LORD your God was your king.
১২পরে যখন তোমরা দেখলে অম্মোন-সন্তানদের রাজা নাহশ তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে বেরিয়ে আসছে, তখন, তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের রাজা থাকতেও তোমরা আমাকে বললে, না, আমাদের উপরে একজন রাজা রাজত্ব করুন৷
13 Now here is the king you have chosen, the one you requested. Behold, the LORD has placed a king over you.
১৩অতএব এই দেখ, সেই রাজা, যাঁকে তোমরা মনোনীত করেছ ও চেয়েছ; দেখ, সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের উপরে একজন রাজা নিযুক্ত করেছেন৷
14 If you fear the LORD and serve Him and obey His voice, and if you do not rebel against the command of the LORD, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the LORD your God, then all will be well.
১৪তোমরা সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় কর, তাঁর সেবা কর ও তাঁর কথায় কান দাও এবং সদাপ্রভুর আদেশের বিরুদ্ধে যেও না, আর তোমরা ও তোমাদের উপরে ভারপ্রাপ্ত রাজা, উভয়েই যদি নিজের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর অনুসারী হও তবে ভালো৷
15 But if you disobey the LORD and rebel against His command, then the hand of the LORD will be against you as it was against your fathers.
১৫কিন্তু তোমরা যদি সদাপ্রভুর আওয়াজে কান না দাও, তবে সদাপ্রভুর হাত যেমন তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের বিরুদ্ধ ছিল, তেমনি তোমাদেরও বিরুদ্ধ হবে৷
16 Now, therefore, stand and see this great thing that the LORD will do before your eyes.
১৬অতএব তোমরা দাড়াও; সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের সামনে যে মহৎ কাজ করবেন, তা দেখ৷
17 Is it not the wheat harvest today? I will call on the LORD to send thunder and rain, so that you will know and see what a great evil you have committed in the sight of the LORD by asking for a king.”
১৭আজ কি গম কাটার দিন নয়? আমি সদাপ্রভুকে ডাকব, যেন তিনি মেঘ গর্জন ও বৃষ্টি দেন; তাতে তোমরা জানবে ও বুঝবে যে, তোমরা নিজেদের জন্য রাজা চেয়ে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে খুব খারাপ করেছ৷”
18 So Samuel called to the LORD, and on that day the LORD sent thunder and rain. As a result, all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.
১৮তখন শমূয়েল সদাপ্রভুকে ডাকলে সদাপ্রভু ঐ দিনের মেঘ গর্জন ও বৃষ্টি দিলেন; তাতে সব লোক সদাপ্রভুর থেকে ও শমূয়েলের থেকে খুব ভীত হল৷
19 They pleaded with Samuel, “Pray to the LORD your God for your servants so that we will not die! For we have added to all our sins the evil of asking for a king.”
১৯আর সব লোক শমূয়েলকে বলল, “আমরা যেন না মরি, এই জন্য আপনি নিজের দাসদের জন্য আপনার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করুন; কারণ আমরা আমাদের সব পাপের উপরে এই খারাপ কাজ করেছি যে, আমাদের জন্য রাজা চেয়েছি৷”
20 “Do not be afraid,” Samuel replied. “Even though you have committed all this evil, do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart.
২০পরে শমূয়েল লোকদেরকে বললেন, “ভয় করো না; তোমরা এই মন্দ কাজ করেছ ঠিকই, কিন্তু কোনো মতে সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে সরে যেও না, সমস্ত হৃদয় দিয়ে সদাপ্রভুর সেবা কর৷
21 Do not turn aside after worthless things that cannot profit you or deliver you, for they are empty.
২১সরে যেও না, গেলে সেই সব অবস্তুর অনুগামী হবে, যারা অবস্তু বলে উপকার ও উদ্ধার করতে পারে না৷
22 Indeed, for the sake of His great name, the LORD will not abandon His people, because He was pleased to make you His own.
২২কারণ সদাপ্রভু নিজের মহানামের গুনে নিজের প্রজাদেরকে ত্যাগ করবেন না; কারণ তোমাদেরকে নিজের প্রজা করতে সদাপ্রভুর ইচ্ছা হয়েছে৷
23 As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you. And I will continue to teach you the good and right way.
২৩আর আমিই যে তোমাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা করতে বিরত হয়ে সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করব, তা দূরে থাক; আমি তোমাদেরকে ভালো ও সরল পথের শিক্ষা দেব;
24 Above all, fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things He has done for you.
২৪তোমরা শুধুমাত্র সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় কর ও সমস্ত হৃদয় দিয়ে সত্যে তাঁর সেবা কর; কারণ দেখ, তিনি তোমাদের জন্য কেমন মহান কাজ করলেন৷
25 But if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away.”
২৫কিন্তু তোমরা যদি খারাপ ব্যবহার কর, তবে তোমরা ও তোমাদের রাজা উভয়েই বিনষ্ট হবে৷”
