1 Peter 4
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in His body, arm yourselves with the same resolve, because anyone who has suffered in his body is done with sin.
Weil nun Christus für uns dem Fleische nach gelitten hat, so wappnet auch ihr euch mit dem gleichen Gedanken. Denn der am Fleische gelitten hat, ist abgebracht vom Sündigen.
2 Consequently, he does not live out his remaining time on earth for human passions, but for the will of God.
Daß er hinfort, solange er noch im Fleische lebt, nicht menschlichen Lüsten, sondern dem Willen Gottes lebe.
3 For you have spent enough time in the past carrying out the same desires as the Gentiles: living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and detestable idolatry.
Denn es ist genug, daß wir die vergangene Zeit des Lebens nach dem Willen der Heiden in Ausschweifungen, Wollüsten, Trunksucht, Schwelgereien, Zechgelagen, greulichen Abgöttereien hingebracht haben.
4 Because of this, they consider it strange of you not to plunge with them into the same flood of reckless indiscretion, and they heap abuse on you.
Das befremdet sie, daß ihr nicht mehr in demselben wüsten, unordentlichen Wesen mit ihnen fortlaufet, und da lästern sie euch;
5 But they will have to give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
Sie müssen aber Rechenschaft geben Dem, Der nun bereit ist zu richten die Lebendigen und die Toten.
6 That is why the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
Denn dazu ist auch den Toten das Evangelium gepredigt worden, auf daß sie als Menschen nach dem Fleische gerichtet würden, im Geiste aber Gott wohlgefällig leben könnten.
7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and sober, so that you can pray.
Es ist aber das Ende aller Dinge nahe gekommen.
8 Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
So seid nun mäßig und nüchtern zum Gebet. Vor allem aber habt eine herzliche Liebe zueinander; denn die Liebe deckt auch der Sünden Menge.
9 Show hospitality to one another without complaining.
Seid gastfrei untereinander, ohne Murren.
10 As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another.
Und dient einander, ein jeglicher mit der Gabe, die er empfangen hat, als gute Haushalter der mannigfaltigen Gnade Gottes.
11 If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
So einer redet, rede er nach Gottes Wort. So jemand ein Amt hat, so warte er des Amtes nach dem Vermögen, das Gott ihm gibt, auf daß in allen Dingen Gott durch Jesus Christus gepriesen werde, Welchem sei Ehre und Gewalt von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you, as though something strange were happening to you.
Lasset euch nicht befremden, Geliebte, daß unter euch das Feuer der Prüfung für euch auskommt, als ob euch etwas Absonderliches widerführe.
13 But rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory.
Freut euch vielmehr darüber, auf daß ihr, inwieweit ihr an Christus Leiden teilhaben dürft, euch auch bei der Offenbarung Seiner Herrlichkeit freuen und frohlocken mögt.
14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
Selig seid ihr, wenn ihr über Christus Namen geschmäht werdet, weil der Geist der Herrlichkeit und Gottes sich auf euch niederläßt; denn von ihnen wird Er verlästert, in euch aber verherrlicht.
15 Indeed, none of you should suffer as a murderer or thief or wrongdoer, or even as a meddler.
Niemand unter euch leide als ein Mörder oder Dieb oder Übeltäter oder als einer, der sich in fremde Händel mischt.
16 But if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but glorify God that you bear that name.
Leidet er aber als Christ, so schäme er sich dessen nicht, sondern preise Gott dafür.
17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God?
Denn es ist die Zeit, da das Gericht anfängt an dem Hause Gottes; wenn aber zuerst bei uns, was wird es für ein Ende nehmen bei denen, die dem Evangelium Gottes nicht glauben?
18 And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”
Und so der Gerechte kaum erhalten wird, wo wird der Gottlose und Sünder zu stehen kommen?
19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should entrust their souls to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
Darum sollen die, so da leiden nach dem Willen Gottes, Ihm, Dem treuen Schöpfer, ihre Seelen empfehlen und Gutes tun.
