1 Kings 5
1 Now when Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been anointed king in his father’s place, he sent envoys to Solomon; for Hiram had always been a friend of David.
Und Hiram, der König zu Tyrus, sandte seine Knechte zu Salomo; denn er hatte gehört, daß man ihn an seines Vaters Statt zum König gesalbt hatte; denn Hiram liebte David sein Leben lang.
2 And Solomon relayed this message to Hiram:
Und Salomo sandte zu Hiram und ließ ihm sagen:
3 “As you are well aware, due to the wars waged on all sides against my father David, he could not build a house for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD had put his enemies under his feet.
Du weißt, daß mein Vater David dem Namen des HERRN, seines Gottes, kein Haus bauen konnte wegen der Kriege, in die seine Nachbarn ihn verwickelten, bis der HERR sie unter seine Fußsohlen legte.
4 But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or crisis.
Nun aber hat mir der HERR, mein Gott, ringsum Ruhe gegeben, so daß weder ein Widersacher noch ein boshafter Angriff zu erwarten ist.
5 So behold, I plan to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God, according to what the LORD said to my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the house for My Name.’
Siehe, nun habe ich gedacht, dem Namen des HERRN, meines Gottes, ein Haus zu bauen, wie der HERR zu meinem Vater David gesagt hat, indem er sprach: Dein Sohn, den ich an deiner Statt auf den Thron setzen werde, der soll meinem Namen ein Haus bauen!
6 Now therefore, order that cedars of Lebanon be cut down for me. My servants will be with your servants, and I will pay your servants whatever wages you set, for you know that there are none among us as skilled in logging as the Sidonians.”
So gebiete nun, daß man mir Zedern vom Libanon haue; und meine Knechte sollen mit deinen Knechten sein, und den Lohn deiner Knechte will ich dir geben, soviel du verlangst; denn dir ist bekannt, daß niemand unter uns ist, der Holz zu hauen weiß wie die Zidonier.
7 When Hiram received Solomon’s message, he rejoiced greatly and said, “Blessed be the LORD this day! He has given David a wise son over this great people!”
Als nun Hiram die Worte Salomos hörte, freute er sich hoch und sprach: Der HERR sei heute gelobt, der David einen weisen Sohn gegeben hat über dieses große Volk!
8 Then Hiram sent a reply to Solomon, saying: “I have received your message; I will do all you desire regarding the cedar and cypress timber.
Und Hiram sandte zu Salomo und ließ ihm sagen: Ich habe [die Botschaft] gehört, die du mir gesandt hast; ich will tun nach all deinem Begehren betreffs des Zedern und Zypressenholzes.
9 My servants will haul the logs from Lebanon to the Sea, and I will float them as rafts by sea to the place you specify. There I will separate the logs, and you can take them away. And in exchange, you can meet my needs by providing my household with food.”
Meine Knechte sollen die Stämme vom Libanon an das Meer hinabbringen; darauf will ich sie zu Flößen machen auf dem Meere bis an den Ort, den du mir wirst sagen lassen, und ich will sie selbst wieder zerlegen, und du sollst sie holen lassen. Aber du sollst auch mein Begehren erfüllen und meinem Gesinde Speise geben!
10 So Hiram provided Solomon with all the cedar and cypress timber he wanted,
Also gab Hiram dem Salomo Zedern und Zypressenholz nach all seinem Begehren.
11 and year after year Solomon would provide Hiram with 20,000 cors of wheat as food for his household, as well as 20,000 baths of pure olive oil.
Salomo aber gab dem Hiram zwanzigtausend Kor Weizen zur Speise für sein Gesinde und zwanzig Kor gestoßenes Öl. Solches gab Salomo dem Hiram alljährlich.
12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him. There was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.
Und der HERR gab Salomo Weisheit, wie er ihm verheißen hatte; und es war Friede zwischen Hiram und Salomo; und die beiden machten einen Bund miteinander.
13 Then King Solomon conscripted a labor force of 30,000 men from all Israel.
Der König Salomo hob auch aus ganz Israel Fronarbeiter aus, und es waren ihrer dreißigtausend Mann.
14 He sent them to Lebanon in monthly shifts of 10,000 men, so that they would spend one month in Lebanon and two months at home. And Adoniram was in charge of the forced labor.
Und er sandte sie abwechselnd auf den Libanon, jeden Monat zehntausend Mann, so daß sie einen Monat auf dem Libanon waren und zwei Monate daheim. Und Adoniram war über die Fronarbeiter gesetzt.
15 Solomon had 70,000 porters and 80,000 stonecutters in the mountains,
Und Salomo hatte siebzigtausend Lastträger und achtzigtausend Steinmetzen im Gebirge,
16 not including his 3,300 foremen who supervised the workers.
ohne die Oberaufseher Salomos, die über das Werk gesetzt waren, nämlich dreitausenddreihundert, welche über das Volk, das am Werk arbeitete, zu gebieten hatten.
17 And the king commanded them to quarry large, costly stones to lay the foundation of the temple with dressed stones.
Und der König gebot, und sie brachen große Steine aus, kostbare Steine, nämlich Quadersteine zum Grunde des Hauses.
18 So Solomon’s and Hiram’s builders, along with the Gebalites, quarried the stone and prepared the timber and stone for the construction of the temple.
Und die Bauleute Salomos und die Bauleute Hirams und die Gibliter behieben sie und richteten das Holz und die Steine zum Bau des Hauses.
