1 Kings 2
1 As the time drew near for David to die, he charged his son Solomon,
௧தாவீது மரணமடையும் காலம் நெருங்கியபோது, அவன் தன்னுடைய மகனாகிய சாலொமோனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டுச் சொன்னது:
2 “I am about to go the way of all the earth. So be strong and prove yourself a man.
௨நான் பூமியில் உள்ள யாவரும் மரிப்பதுப் போல மரிக்கப் போகிறேன்; நீ திடன்கொண்டு தைரியமானவனாக இரு.
3 And keep the charge of the LORD your God to walk in His ways and to keep His statutes, commandments, ordinances, and decrees, as is written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you turn,
௩நீ என்ன செய்தாலும், நீ எங்கே போனாலும், எல்லாவற்றிலும் புத்திசாலியாக இருப்பதற்கும், யெகோவா என்னைக் குறித்து: உன்னுடைய பிள்ளைகள் தங்களுடைய முழு இதயத்தோடும், முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் எனக்கு முன்பாக உண்மையாக நடக்கும்படித் தங்கள் தங்கள் வழியைக் காத்துக்கொண்டால், இஸ்ரவேலின் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் அமர்ந்திருக்கத்தக்க ஆண் உனக்கு இல்லாமற்போவதில்லை என்று சொன்ன தம்முடைய வார்த்தையை உறுதிப்படுத்துவதற்கும்,
4 and so that the LORD may fulfill His promise to me: ‘If your descendants take heed to walk faithfully before Me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’
௪மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, நீ உன்னுடைய தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுடைய கட்டளைகளையும், கற்பனைகளையும், நியாயங்களையும், சாட்சிகளையும் கைக்கொள்ள, அவர் வழிகளில் நடக்கும்படி அவருடைய கட்டளைகளைக் காப்பாயாக.
5 Moreover, you know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether, the two commanders of the armies of Israel. He killed them in peacetime to avenge the blood of war. He stained with the blood of war the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet.
௫செருயாவின் மகனாகிய யோவாப், இஸ்ரவேலின் இரண்டு தளபதிகளாகிய நேரின் மகன் அப்னேருக்கும், ஏத்தேரின் மகன் அமாசாவுக்கும் செய்த காரியத்தினால் எனக்குச் செய்த குற்றத்தை நீ அறிந்திருக்கிறாயே; அவன் அவர்களைக் கொன்று, சமாதானகாலத்திலே யுத்தகாலத்து இரத்தத்தைச் சிந்தி, யுத்தகாலத்து இரத்தத்தைத் தன்னுடைய இடுப்பிலுள்ள வாரிலும் தன்னுடைய கால்களில் இருந்த காலணிகளிலும் சிந்தவிட்டானே.
6 So act according to your wisdom, and do not let his gray head go down to Sheol in peace. (Sheol h7585)
௬ஆகையால் உன்னுடைய ஞானத்தின்படியே நீ செய்து, அவனுடைய நரைமுடி சமாதானமாகப் பாதாளத்தில் இறங்கவிடாமலிரு. (Sheol h7585)
7 But show loving devotion to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among those who eat at your table, because they stood by me when I fled from your brother Absalom.
௭கீலேயாத்தியனான பர்சிலாயியின் மகன்களுக்குத் தயவுசெய்வாயாக; அவர்கள் உன்னுடைய பந்தியிலே சாப்பிடுகிறவர்களுடன் இருப்பார்களாக; உன்னுடைய சகோதரனாகிய அப்சலோமுக்கு முன்பாக நான் ஓடிப்போகும்போது, அவர்கள் என்னை ஆதரித்தார்கள்.
8 Keep an eye on Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim who is with you. He called down bitter curses against me on the day I went to Mahanaim, but when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the LORD: ‘I will never put you to the sword.’
௮மேலும் பகூரிம் ஊரைச்சேர்ந்த பென்யமீனனாகிய கேராவின் மகன் சீமேயி உன்னிடம் இருக்கிறான்; நான் மகனாயீமுக்குப் போகிற நாளிலே, அவன் என்னை மிகவும் மோசமாக சபித்தான்; ஆனாலும் அவன் யோர்தானிலே எனக்கு எதிரே வந்ததால்: நான் உன்னைப் பட்டயத்தாலே கொன்றுபோடுவதில்லை என்று யெகோவாமேல் அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்தேன்.
9 Now therefore, do not hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man. You know what you ought to do to him to bring his gray head down to Sheol in blood.” (Sheol h7585)
௯ஆனாலும் நீ அவனைக் குற்றமற்றவன் என்று நினைக்காதே; நீ புத்திமான்; அவனுடைய நரைமுடியை இரத்தத்துடன் பாதாளத்தில் இறங்கச்செய்ய, நீ அவனுக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியதை அறிவாய் என்றான். (Sheol h7585)
10 Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.
௧0பின்பு தாவீது தன்னுடைய முன்னோர்களோடு மரணமடைந்து, தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான்.
11 The length of David’s reign over Israel was forty years—seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
௧௧தாவீது இஸ்ரவேலை அரசாட்சி செய்த நாட்கள் 40 வருடங்கள்; அவன் எப்ரோனில் 7 வருடங்களும், எருசலேமில் 33 வருடங்களும் ஆட்சிசெய்தான்.
12 So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was firmly established.
௧௨சாலொமோன் தன்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருந்தான்; அவனுடைய அரசாட்சி மிகவும் உறுதிப்பட்டது.
13 Now Adonijah son of Haggith went to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, and she asked, “Do you come in peace?” “Yes, in peace,” he replied.
௧௩ஆகீத்தின் மகனாகிய அதோனியா சாலொமோனின் தாயாகிய பத்சேபாளிடம் வந்தான். நீ சமாதானமாக வருகிறாயா என்று அவள் கேட்டதற்கு: சமாதானமாகத்தான் வருகிறேன் என்றான்.
14 Then he said, “I have something to tell you.” “Say it,” she answered.
௧௪பின்பு அவன்: உம்மோடு நான் பேசவேண்டிய ஒரு காரியம் இருக்கிறது என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: சொல் என்றாள்.
15 “You know that the kingship was mine,” he said. “All Israel expected that I should reign, but the kingship has turned to my brother, for it has come to him from the LORD.
௧௫அப்பொழுது அவன்: ராஜ்ஜியம் என்னுடையதாக இருந்தது என்றும், நான் அரசாளுவதற்கு இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் எல்லோரும் என்னை எதிர்பார்த்தார்கள் என்றும் நீர் அறிவீர்; ஆனாலும் அரசாட்சி என்னைவிட்டுத் தாண்டி, என்னுடைய சகோதரனுடையதானது; யெகோவாவால் அது அவருக்குக் கிடைத்தது.
16 So now I have just one request of you; do not deny me.” “State your request,” she told him.
௧௬இப்பொழுது நான் உம்மிடம் ஒரு விண்ணப்பத்தைக் கேட்கிறேன்; அதை எனக்கு மறுக்கவேண்டாம் என்றான். அவள்: சொல் என்றாள்.
17 Adonijah replied, “Please speak to King Solomon, since he will not turn you down. Let him give me Abishag the Shunammite as my wife.”
௧௭அப்பொழுது அவன்: ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் உம்முடைய சொல்லை மறுப்பதில்லை; சூனேம் ஊரைச்சேர்ந்த அபிஷாகை எனக்கு அவர் திருமணம் செய்துகொடுக்க, அவரோடு பேசும்படி வேண்டுகிறேன் என்றான்.
18 “Very well,” Bathsheba replied. “I will speak to the king for you.”
௧௮அதற்கு பத்சேபாள்; நல்லது, நான் உனக்காக ராஜாவிடம் பேசுவேன் என்றாள்.
19 So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. The king stood up to greet her, bowed to her, and sat down on his throne. Then the king had a throne brought for his mother, who sat down at his right hand.
௧௯பத்சேபாள் அதோனியாவுக்காக ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனிடம் பேசும்படி போனாள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜா எழுந்து, அவளுக்கு எதிரேவந்து அவளை வணங்கி, தன்னுடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் உட்கார்ந்து, ராஜாவின் தாயார் தன்னுடைய வலதுபுறமாக உட்கார அவளுக்கு ஒரு இருக்கையை வைத்தான்.
20 “I have just one small request of you,” she said. “Do not deny me.” “Make your request, my mother,” the king replied, “for I will not deny you.”
௨0அப்பொழுது அவள்: நான் உம்மிடம் ஒரு சிறிய விண்ணப்பத்தைக் கேட்க விரும்புகிறேன்; எனக்கு அதை மறுக்கவேண்டாம் என்றாள். அதற்கு ராஜா: என்னுடைய தாயாரே, கேளும்; நான் உமக்கு மறுப்பதில்லை என்றான்.
21 So Bathsheba said, “Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to your brother Adonijah as his wife.”
௨௧அப்பொழுது அவள்: சூனேம் ஊரைச்சேர்ந்த அபிஷாகை உம்முடைய சகோதரனாகிய அதோனியாவுக்குத் திருமணம் செய்துகொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றாள்.
22 King Solomon answered his mother, “Why do you request Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Since he is my older brother, you might as well request the kingdom for him and for Abiathar the priest and for Joab son of Zeruiah!”
௨௨ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் தன்னுடைய தாயாருக்கு மறுமொழியாக: நீர் சூனேம் ஊரைச்சேர்ந்த அபிஷாகை அதோனியாவுக்கு ஏன் கேட்கிறாய்? அப்படியானால் ராஜ்ஜியபாரத்தையும் அவனுக்குக் கேளும்; அவன் எனக்கு மூத்த சகோதரன்; அவனுக்கும் ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாருக்கும் செருயாவின் மகன் யோவாபுக்குமே அதைக் கேளும் என்றான்.
23 Then King Solomon swore by the LORD: “May God punish me, and ever so severely, if Adonijah has not made this request at the expense of his life.
௨௩பின்பு சாலொமோன் ராஜா: அதோனியா இந்த வார்த்தையைத் தன்னுடைய உயிருக்குச் சேதம் உண்டாக்கும்படிச் சொல்லாமலிருந்தால், தேவன் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யட்டும் என்று யெகோவா மேல் ஆணையிட்டு,
24 And now, as surely as the LORD lives—the One who established me, who set me on the throne of my father David, and who founded for me a dynasty as He promised—surely Adonijah shall be put to death today!”
௨௪இப்போதும் இன்றைக்கு அதோனியா கொலை செய்யப்படுவான் என்று என்னை உறுதிப்படுத்தினவரும், என்னை என்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் சிங்காசனத்தில் அமர்ந்திருக்கச்செய்து, தாம் சொன்னபடி எனக்கு வீட்டைக் கட்டினவருமாகிய யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி,
25 So King Solomon sent the order to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who struck down Adonijah, and he died.
௨௫ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் யோய்தாவின் மகன் பெனாயாவுக்குக் கட்டளைக் கொடுத்து அனுப்பினான்; பெனாயா அதோனியாவைக் கண்டுபிடித்து அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.
26 Then the king said to Abiathar the priest, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death at this time, since you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my father David, and you suffered through all that my father suffered.”
௨௬ராஜா: ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரை நோக்கி: நீ உன்னுடைய நிலங்கள் இருக்கிற ஆனதோத்திற்குப் போய்விடு; நீ மரணத்திற்குரியவனாக இருந்தும், நீ என்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்கு முன்பாகக் யெகோவாவாகிய ஆண்டவருடைய பெட்டியைச் சுமந்ததாலும், என்னுடைய தகப்பன் அநுபவித்த உபத்திரவத்தையெல்லாம் நீ கூட அநுபவித்ததாலும், இன்றைய தினம் நான் உன்னைக் கொலை செய்யமாட்டேன் என்றான்.
27 So Solomon banished Abiathar from the priesthood of the LORD and thus fulfilled the word that the LORD had spoken at Shiloh against the house of Eli.
௨௭அப்படியே யெகோவா சீலோவிலே ஏலியின் வீட்டாரைக்குறித்துச் சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றும்படியாக, சாலொமோன் அபியத்தாரைக் யெகோவாவுடைய ஆசாரியனாக இல்லாதபடித் தள்ளிப்போட்டான்.
28 When the news reached Joab, who had conspired with Adonijah but not with Absalom, he fled to the tent of the LORD and took hold of the horns of the altar.
௨௮நடந்த இந்தச் செய்தி யோவாபுக்கு வந்தபோது, அவன் யெகோவாவுடைய கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போய், பலிபீடத்தின் கொம்புகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்; யோவாப் அப்சலோமின் பக்கம் சாயாதவனாக இருந்தும், அதோனியாவின் பக்கம் சாய்ந்திருந்தான்.
29 It was reported to King Solomon: “Joab has fled to the tent of the LORD and is now beside the altar.” So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying, “Go, strike him down!”
௨௯யோவாப் யெகோவாவின் கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போனான் என்றும், இதோ, பலிபீடத்தின் அருகில் நிற்கிறான் என்றும், ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, சாலொமோன் யோய்தாவின் மகனாகிய பெனாயாவை அனுப்பி, நீ போய் அவனைக் கொலைசெய் என்றான்.
30 And Benaiah entered the tent of the LORD and said to Joab, “The king says, ‘Come out!’” But Joab replied, “No, I will die here.” So Benaiah relayed the message to the king, saying, “This is how Joab answered me.”
௩0பெனாயா யெகோவாவின் கூடாரத்திற்குப் போய், அவனைப் பார்த்து: வெளியே வா என்று ராஜா சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: நான் வரமாட்டேன்; இங்கேயே சாவேன் என்றான்; ஆகையால் பெனாயா ராஜாவிடம் போய், யோவாப் இன்னபடி சொல்லி, இன்னபடி எனக்கு பதில் கொடுத்தான் என்று மறுசெய்தி சொன்னான்.
31 And the king replied, “Do just as he says. Strike him down and bury him, and so remove from me and from the house of my father the innocent blood that Joab shed.
௩௧அப்பொழுது ராஜா அவனை நோக்கி: அவன் சொன்னபடியே நீ செய்து, அவனைக் கொன்று, அடக்கம்செய்து, இவ்விதமாக யோவாப் காரணமில்லாமல் சிந்தின இரத்தத்தை என்னைவிட்டும் என்னுடைய தகப்பன் வீட்டைவிட்டும் விலக்கிப்போடு.
32 The LORD will bring his bloodshed back upon his own head, for without the knowledge of my father David he struck down two men more righteous and better than he when he put to the sword Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.
௩௨அவன் தன்னைவிட நீதியும் நற்குணமும் உள்ள இரண்டு பேர்களாகிய நேரின் மகன் அப்னேர் என்னும் இஸ்ரவேலின் படைத்தலைவனையும், ஏத்தேரின் மகன் அமாசா என்னும் யூதாவின் படைத்தலைவனையும் தாக்கி, என்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்குத் தெரியாமல் அவர்களைப் பட்டயத்தால் கொன்ற அவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழியைக் யெகோவா அவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் திரும்பச்செய்வாராக.
33 Their blood will come back upon the heads of Joab and his descendants forever; but for David, his descendants, his house, and his throne, there shall be peace from the LORD forever.”
௩௩இப்படியே அவர்களுடைய இரத்தப் பழி என்றும் யோவாபுடைய தலையின்மேலும், அவனுடைய சந்ததியினர்களின் தலையின்மேலும் திரும்பவும், தாவீதுக்கும் அவருடைய சந்ததியினர்களுக்கும் அவருடைய வீட்டார்களுக்கும் அவர் சிங்காசனத்திற்கும் என்றென்றைக்கும் யெகோவாவாலே சமாதானம் உண்டாயிருக்கவும்கடவது என்றான்.
34 So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, struck down Joab, and killed him. He was buried at his own home in the wilderness.
௩௪அப்படியே யோய்தாவின் மகன் பெனாயா போய், அவனைத் தாக்கி அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்; அவன் வனாந்திரத்திலிருக்கிற தன்னுடைய வீட்டிலே அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான்.
35 And the king appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada in Joab’s place over the army, and he appointed Zadok the priest in Abiathar’s place.
௩௫அவனுக்குப் பதிலாக ராஜா யோய்தாவின் மகன் பெனாயாவை இராணுவத்தின்மேலும், ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கை அபியத்தாரின் இடத்திலும் வைத்தான்.
36 Then the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Build a house for yourself in Jerusalem and live there, but do not go anywhere else.
௩௬பின்பு ராஜா சீமேயியை அழைத்து, அவனை நோக்கி: நீ எருசலேமிலே உனக்கு ஒரு வீட்டைக்கட்டி, அங்கேயிருந்து எங்கேயாவது வெளியே போகாமல், அங்கேயே குடியிரு.
37 On the day you go out and cross the Kidron Valley, know for sure that you will die; your blood will be on your own head.”
௩௭நீ வெளியே போய்க் கீதரோன் ஆற்றைக் கடக்கும் நாளில், நீ சாவாய்; அப்பொழுது உன்னுடைய இரத்தப்பழி உன்னுடைய தலையின்மேல் இருக்கும் என்பதை நீ நிச்சயமாக அறிந்துகொள் என்றான்.
38 “The sentence is fair,” Shimei replied. “Your servant will do as my lord the king has spoken.” And Shimei lived in Jerusalem for a long time.
௩௮சீமேயி ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: அது நல்ல வார்த்தை; ராஜாவாகிய என்னுடைய ஆண்டவன் சொன்னபடியே, உமது அடியானாகிய நான் செய்வேன் என்று சொல்லி, சீமேயி அநேகநாட்கள் எருசலேமிலே குடியிருந்தான்.
39 After three years, however, two of Shimei’s slaves ran away to Achish son of Maacah, king of Gath. And Shimei was told, “Look, your slaves are in Gath.”
௩௯மூன்று வருடங்கள்சென்றபோது, சீமேயியின் வேலைக்காரர்கள் இரண்டுபேர் மாக்காவின் மகனாகிய ஆகீஸ் என்னும் காத்தின் ராஜாவிடம் ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; உன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள் காத் ஊரில் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்று சீமேயிக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.
40 So Shimei saddled his donkey and set out to Achish at Gath in search of his slaves, and he brought them back from Gath.
௪0அப்பொழுது சீமேயி எழுந்து, தன்னுடைய கழுதையின்மேல் சேணம் வைத்து, தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களைத் தேட, காத் ஊரிலிருக்கிற ஆகீசிடம் புறப்பட்டுப் போனான்; இப்படி சீமேயி போய், தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களைக் காத் ஊரிலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்தான்.
41 When Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath and had returned,
௪௧சீமேயி எருசலேமிலிருந்து காத் ஊருக்குப் போய், திரும்பி வந்தான் என்று சாலொமோனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது,
42 the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Did I not make you swear by the LORD and warn you, ‘On the day you leave and go elsewhere, know for sure that you will die’? And you told me, ‘The sentence is fair; I will comply.’
௪௨ராஜா சீமேயியை அழைத்து: நீ வெளியே புறப்பட்டு எங்கேயாவது போகிற நாளிலே சாவாய் என்பதை நீ நிச்சயமாக அறிந்துகொள் என்று நான் உன்னைக் யெகோவாமேல் ஆணையிடச் செய்து, உனக்கு மிகவும் உறுதியாகச் சொல்லியிருக்க, அதற்கு நீ: நான் கேட்ட வார்த்தை நல்லதென்று சொல்லவில்லையா?
43 So why have you not kept your oath to the LORD and the command that I gave you?”
௪௩நீ யெகோவாவின் ஆணையையும், நான் உனக்குக் கற்பித்த கட்டளையையும் கைக்கொள்ளாமற்போனது என்ன? என்று சொல்லி,
44 The king also said, “You know in your heart all the evil that you did to my father David. Therefore the LORD will bring your evil back upon your head.
௪௪பின்னும் ராஜா சீமேயியைப் பார்த்து: நீ என்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்குச் செய்ததும் உன் மனதுக்குத் தெரிந்திருக்கிறதுமான எல்லாத் தீங்கையும் அறிந்திருக்கிறாய்; ஆகையால் யெகோவா உன்னுடைய தீங்கை உன்னுடைய தலையின்மேல் திரும்பச்செய்வார்.
45 But King Solomon will be blessed and David’s throne will remain secure before the LORD forever.”
௪௫ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனோ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவனாக இருப்பான்; தாவீதின் சிங்காசனம் என்றைக்கும் யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக உறுதியாக இருக்கும் என்று சொல்லி,
46 Then the king commanded Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck Shimei down, and he died. Thus the kingdom was firmly established in the hand of Solomon.
௪௬ராஜா யோய்தாவின் மகனாகிய பெனாயாவுக்குக் கட்டளை கொடுத்தான்; அவன் வெளியே போய், அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான். அரசாட்சி சாலொமோனின் கையிலே உறுதிப்பட்டது.
