1 Kings 17
1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was among the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As surely as the LORD lives—the God of Israel before whom I stand—there will be neither dew nor rain in these years except at my word!”
௧கீலேயாத்தின் குடிகளிலே திஸ்பியனாகிய எலியா ஆகாபை நோக்கி: என்னுடைய வார்த்தை இல்லாமல் இந்த வருடங்களிலே பனியும் மழையும் பெய்யாமல் இருக்கும் என்று இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கிற நான் அவருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.
2 Then a revelation from the LORD came to Elijah:
௨பின்பு யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு உண்டானது, அவர்:
3 “Leave here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.
௩நீ இந்த இடத்தைவிட்டுக் கிழக்குத்திசையை நோக்கிப் போய், யோர்தான் நதிக்கு நேராக இருக்கிற கேரீத் ஆற்றின் அருகில் ஒளிந்துகொள்.
4 And you are to drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
௪அந்த ஆற்றின் தண்ணீரைக் குடிப்பாய்; அங்கே உனக்கு உணவளிக்க, காகங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுவேன் என்றார்.
5 So Elijah did what the LORD had told him, and he went and lived by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.
௫அவன் போய், யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே யோர்தானுக்கு நேராக இருக்கிற கேரீத் ஆற்றின் அருகில் தங்கியிருந்தான்.
6 The ravens would bring him bread and meat in the morning and evening, and he would drink from the brook.
௬காகங்கள் அவனுக்கு காலையில் அப்பமும் இறைச்சியும், மாலையில் அப்பமும் இறைச்சியும் கொண்டு வந்தது; தாகத்திற்கு அந்த ஆற்றின் தண்ணீரைக் குடித்தான்.
7 Some time later, however, the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
௭தேசத்தில் மழை பெய்யாததால், சில நாட்களுக்குப்பின்பு அந்த ஆறு வற்றிப்போனது.
8 Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah:
௮அப்பொழுது யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு உண்டானது, அவர்:
9 “Get up and go to Zarephath of Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”
௯நீ எழுந்து, சீதோனைச்சேர்ந்த சாரிபாத் ஊருக்குப்போய், அங்கே தங்கியிரு; உன்னைப் பராமரிக்கும்படி அங்கே இருக்கிற ஒரு விதவைக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டேன் என்றார்.
10 So Elijah got up and went to Zarephath. When he arrived at the city gate, there was a widow gathering sticks. Elijah called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, so that I may drink.”
௧0அப்படியே அவன் எழுந்து, சாரிபாத்துக்குப் போனான்; அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் வாசலுக்கு அவன் வந்தபோது, அங்கே ஒரு விதவை விறகு பொறுக்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்; அவன் அவளைப் பார்த்துக் கூப்பிட்டு, நான் குடிப்பதற்குக் கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீர் ஒரு பாத்திரத்தில் எனக்குக் கொண்டுவா என்றான்.
11 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread.”
௧௧கொண்டுவர அவள் போகிறபோது அவன் அவளை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டு, கொஞ்சம் அப்பமும் உன்னுடைய கையிலே எனக்குக் கொண்டுவா என்றான்.
12 But she replied, “As surely as the LORD your God lives, I have no bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks to take home and prepare a meal for myself and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”
௧௨அதற்கு அவள்: பானையில் ஒரு பிடி மாவும் கலயத்தில் கொஞ்சம் எண்ணெயையும் தவிர, என்னிடத்தில் ஒரு அப்பமும் இல்லையென்று உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்; இதோ, நானும் என்னுடைய மகனும் சாப்பிட்டு, சாப்பிட ஒன்றுமில்லாமையால் செத்துப்போக, அதை எனக்கும் அவனுக்கும் ஆயத்தப்படுத்த இரண்டு விறகு பொறுக்குகிறேன் என்றாள்.
13 “Do not be afraid,” Elijah said to her. “Go and do as you have said. But first make me a small cake of bread from what you have, and bring it out to me. Afterward, make some for yourself and your son,
௧௩அப்பொழுது எலியா அவளைப் பார்த்து: பயப்படாதே; நீ போய் உன்னுடைய வார்த்தையின்படி ஆயத்தப்படுத்து; ஆனாலும் முதலில் அதிலே எனக்கு ஒரு சிறிய அப்பத்தைச் செய்து என்னிடம் கொண்டுவா; பின்பு உனக்கும் உன்னுடைய மகனுக்கும் செய்யலாம்.
14 for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be exhausted and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain upon the face of the earth.’”
௧௪யெகோவா தேசத்தின்மேல் மழையைக் கட்டளையிடும் நாள்வரையும் பானையில் இருந்த மாவு தீர்ந்துபோவதும் இல்லை; கலசத்தின் எண்ணெய் குறைந்துபோவதும் இல்லை என்று இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.
15 So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and there was food every day for Elijah and the woman and her household.
௧௫அவள் போய், எலியாவின் சொற்படி செய்தாள்; அவளும், இவனும், அவளுடைய வீட்டாரும் அநேகநாட்கள் சாப்பிட்டார்கள்.
16 The jar of flour was not exhausted and the jug of oil did not run dry, according to the word that the LORD had spoken through Elijah.
௧௬யெகோவா எலியாவைக்கொண்டு சொன்ன வார்த்தையின்படியே, பானையிலே மாவு தீர்ந்துபோகவும் இல்லை; கலசத்தின் எண்ணெய் குறைந்துபோகவும் இல்லை.
17 Later, the son of the woman who owned the house became ill, and his sickness grew worse and worse, until no breath remained in him.
௧௭இவைகள் நடந்தபின்பு, வீட்டுக்காரியாகிய அந்த பெண்ணின் மகன் வியாதிப்பட்டுப் படுத்தான்; அவனுடைய உயிர்போகும்வரை அவனுடைய வியாதி அதிகரித்துக்கொண்டே இருந்தது.
18 “O man of God,” said the woman to Elijah, “what have you done to me? Have you come to remind me of my iniquity and cause the death of my son?”
௧௮அப்பொழுது அவள் எலியாவை நோக்கி: தேவனுடைய மனிதனே, எனக்கும் உமக்கும் என்ன? என்னுடைய அக்கிரமத்தை நினைக்கச்செய்யவும், என்னுடைய மகனைச் சாகச்செய்யவுமா என்னிடம் வந்தீர் என்றாள்.
19 But Elijah said to her, “Give me your son.” So he took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed.
௧௯அதற்கு அவன்: உன்னுடைய மகனை என்னிடத்தில் கொடு என்று சொல்லி, அவனை அவளுடைய மடியிலிருந்து எடுத்து, தான் தங்கியிருக்கிற மேல்வீட்டிலே அவனைக் கொண்டுபோய், தன்னுடைய கட்டிலின்மேல் வைத்து:
20 Then he cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on this widow who has opened her home to me, by causing her son to die?”
௨0என்னுடைய தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவே, நான் தங்கியிருக்க இடம்கொடுத்த இந்த விதவையின் மகனைச் சாகச்செய்ததால் அவளுக்குத் துக்கத்தை வருவித்தீரோ என்று யெகோவாவை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டு;
21 Then he stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, please let this boy’s life return to him!”
௨௧அந்தப் பிள்ளையின்மேல் மூன்றுமுறை குப்புறவிழுந்து: என்னுடைய தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவே, இந்தப் பிள்ளையின் ஆத்துமா அவனுக்குள் திரும்பி வரச்செய்யும் என்று யெகோவா வை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம் செய்தான்.
22 And the LORD listened to the voice of Elijah, and the child’s life returned to him, and he lived.
௨௨யெகோவா எலியாவின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டார்; பிள்ளையின் ஆத்துமா அவனுக்குள் திரும்பிவந்தது; அவன் பிழைத்தான்.
23 Then Elijah took the child, brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. “Look, your son is alive,” Elijah declared.
௨௩அப்பொழுது எலியா பிள்ளையை எடுத்து, மேல்வீட்டிலிருந்து அவனைக் கீழ்வீட்டிற்குள் கொண்டுவந்து, அவனை அவனுடைய தாயினிடம் கொடுத்து: பார் உன்னுடைய பிள்ளை உயிரோடு இருக்கிறான் என்று சொன்னான்.
24 Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is truth.”
௨௪அப்பொழுது அந்தப் பெண் எலியாவை நோக்கி: நீர் தேவனுடைய மனிதன் என்றும், உம்முடைய வாயிலிருந்து வரும் யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தை உண்மை என்றும், இதினால் இப்போது அறிந்திருக்கிறேன் என்றாள்.
