1 Kings 17
1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was among the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As surely as the LORD lives—the God of Israel before whom I stand—there will be neither dew nor rain in these years except at my word!”
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଗିଲୀୟଦର ପ୍ରବାସୀ ତିଶ୍ବୀୟ ଏଲୀୟ ଆହାବଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ ଯାହାଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଛିଡ଼ା ହେଉଅଛି, ସେହି ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଜୀବିତ ଥିବା ପ୍ରମାଣେ ଏହି କେତେକ ବର୍ଷ କାକର କି ବୃଷ୍ଟି ପଡ଼ିବ ନାହିଁ, କେବଳ ମୋʼ ବାକ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ ହେବ।”
2 Then a revelation from the LORD came to Elijah:
ଏଉତ୍ତାରେ ତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା,
3 “Leave here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.
ଯଥା, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏଠାରୁ ଯାଇ ପୂର୍ବ ଦିଗକୁ ଫେରି ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ସମ୍ମୁଖସ୍ଥ କରୀତ୍ ନଦୀ ନିକଟରେ ଆପଣାକୁ ଲୁଚାଅ।
4 And you are to drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
ସେସ୍ଥାନରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ନଦୀରୁ ପାନ କରିବ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଯୋଗାଇବା ପାଇଁ ଆମ୍ଭେ କାକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇଅଛୁ।”
5 So Elijah did what the LORD had told him, and he went and lived by the Brook of Cherith, east of the Jordan.
ତହିଁରେ ସେ ଯାଇ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ କର୍ମ କଲେ; ସେ ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ସମ୍ମୁଖସ୍ଥ କରୀତ୍ ନଦୀ ନିକଟକୁ ଯାଇ ବାସ କଲେ।
6 The ravens would bring him bread and meat in the morning and evening, and he would drink from the brook.
ପୁଣି, କାକମାନେ ପ୍ରାତଃକାଳରେ ରୁଟି ଓ ମାଂସ, ପୁଣି, ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ବେଳେ ରୁଟି ଓ ମାଂସ ତାଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଆଣିଲେ; ଆଉ ସେ ନଦୀରୁ ପାନ କଲେ।
7 Some time later, however, the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
ପୁଣି, ଦେଶରେ ବୃଷ୍ଟି ନୋହିବାରୁ କିଛି କାଳ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ନଦୀ ଶୁଷ୍କ ହୋଇଗଲା।
8 Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah:
ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା,
9 “Get up and go to Zarephath of Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”
ଯଥା, “ଉଠ, ସୀଦୋନର ସାରିଫତ୍କୁ ଯାଇ ସେଠାରେ ବାସ କର। ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେଠାସ୍ଥିତ ଏକ ବିଧବା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀକୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ପ୍ରତିପୋଷଣ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଦେଇଅଛୁ।”
10 So Elijah got up and went to Zarephath. When he arrived at the city gate, there was a widow gathering sticks. Elijah called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, so that I may drink.”
ତହିଁରେ ସେ ଉଠି ସାରିଫତ୍କୁ ଗଲେ ଓ ସେ ନଗର-ଦ୍ୱାର ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ଦେଖ, ଏକ ବିଧବା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ସେଠାରେ କାଠ ସାଉଣ୍ଟୁଅଛି; ତହୁଁ ସେ ତାହାକୁ ଡାକି କହିଲେ, “ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି, ଗୋଟିଏ ପାତ୍ରରେ କିଛି ଜଳ ଆଣ, ମୁଁ ପାନ କରିବି।”
11 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread.”
ଏଣୁ ସେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ତାହା ଆଣିବା ପାଇଁ ଯିବା ବେଳେ ସେ ତାହାକୁ ପୁନର୍ବାର ଡାକି କହିଲେ, “ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି, ମୋʼ ପାଇଁ ଖଣ୍ଡେ ରୁଟି ହାତରେ ଆଣ।”
12 But she replied, “As surely as the LORD your God lives, I have no bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks to take home and prepare a meal for myself and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”
ତହୁଁ ସେ କହିଲା, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଜୀବିତ ଥିବା ପ୍ରମାଣେ ମୋʼ ଠାରେ ଗୋଟିଏ ପିଠା ନାହିଁ, କେବଳ କଳସରେ ମୁଠିଏ ମଇଦା ଓ ପାତ୍ରରେ ଅଳ୍ପ ତେଲ ଅଛି; ଆଉ ଦେଖ, ମୁଁ ଦୁଇ ଖଣ୍ଡ କାଠ ସାଉଣ୍ଟୁଅଛି, ଯେପରି ତାହା ନେଇଯାଇ ମୋʼ ପାଇଁ ଓ ମୋʼ ପୁତ୍ର ପାଇଁ ପାକ କରି ଖାଇବୁ, ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ମରିବୁ।”
13 “Do not be afraid,” Elijah said to her. “Go and do as you have said. But first make me a small cake of bread from what you have, and bring it out to me. Afterward, make some for yourself and your son,
ଏଥିରେ ଏଲୀୟ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଭୟ କର ନାହିଁ; ଯାହା କହିଲ, ତାହା ଯାଇ କର; ମାତ୍ର ତହିଁରୁ ପ୍ରଥମେ ମୋʼ ପାଇଁ ଗୋଟିଏ ସାନ ପିଠା କରି ମୋʼ ନିକଟକୁ ଆଣ, ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଇଁ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପୁତ୍ର ପାଇଁ କର।
14 for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be exhausted and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain upon the face of the earth.’”
କାରଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି, ଯେପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଭୂମିରେ ବୃଷ୍ଟି ନ ବର୍ଷାନ୍ତି, ସେଦିନ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ମଇଦା-କଳସ ଶୂନ୍ୟ ହେବ ନାହିଁ, କିଅବା ପାତ୍ରରେ ତୈଳର ଅଭାବ ହେବ ନାହିଁ।”
15 So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and there was food every day for Elijah and the woman and her household.
ତହିଁରେ ସେ ଯାଇ ଏଲୀୟଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ କଲା; ପୁଣି, ସେ ଓ ଏଲୀୟ ଓ ସେହି ସ୍ତ୍ରୀର ପରିଜନ ଅନେକ ଦିନ ଯାଏ ଭୋଜନ କଲେ।
16 The jar of flour was not exhausted and the jug of oil did not run dry, according to the word that the LORD had spoken through Elijah.
ଏଲୀୟଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ କଥିତ ବାକ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ ମଇଦା-କଳସ ଶୂନ୍ୟ ହେଲା ନାହିଁ, କିଅବା ପାତ୍ରରେ ତୈଳର ଅଭାବ ହେଲା ନାହିଁ।
17 Later, the son of the woman who owned the house became ill, and his sickness grew worse and worse, until no breath remained in him.
ଏହିସବୁ ଘଟଣା ଉତ୍ତାରେ ଗୃହର କର୍ତ୍ତ୍ରୀ ସେହି ସ୍ତ୍ରୀର ପୁତ୍ର ପୀଡ଼ିତ ହେଲା; ପୁଣି, ତାହାର ପୀଡ଼ା ଏପରି ପ୍ରବଳ ହେଲା ଯେ, ତାହାଠାରେ ଶ୍ୱାସବାୟୁ ରହିଲା ନାହିଁ।
18 “O man of God,” said the woman to Elijah, “what have you done to me? Have you come to remind me of my iniquity and cause the death of my son?”
ତହିଁରେ ସେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଏଲୀୟଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ହେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଲୋକ, ତୁମ୍ଭ ସଙ୍ଗେ ମୋହର କଅଣ ଅଛି? ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋହର ପାପ ସ୍ମରଣ କରାଇବାକୁ ଓ ମୋʼ ପୁତ୍ରକୁ ବଧ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିଅଛ!”
19 But Elijah said to her, “Give me your son.” So he took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed.
ତହୁଁ ଏଲୀୟ ତାହାକୁ କହିଲେ, “ମୋତେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପୁତ୍ରକୁ ଦିଅ।” ତହିଁରେ ସେ ତାହା କୋଳରୁ ବାଳକକୁ ନେଇ ଆପଣା ରହିବା ଉପର କୋଠରିକୁ ଘେନିଯାଇ ଆପଣା ଶଯ୍ୟାରେ ତାହାକୁ ଶୁଆଇଲେ।
20 Then he cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on this widow who has opened her home to me, by causing her son to die?”
ପୁଣି, ସେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ଡାକି କହିଲେ, “ହେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୋ, ମୋʼ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର, ମୁଁ ଯେଉଁ ବିଧବାର ଗୃହରେ ପ୍ରବାସ କରୁଅଛି, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତାହାର ପୁତ୍ରକୁ ବଧ କରି ତାହା ପ୍ରତି ହିଁ କʼଣ ଅମଙ୍ଗଳ ଘଟାଇଲ?”
21 Then he stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, please let this boy’s life return to him!”
ତହୁଁ ବାଳକ ଉପରେ ସେ ତିନି ଥର ଆପଣାକୁ ଲମ୍ବାଇଲେ, ଆଉ ସେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ଡାକି କହିଲେ, “ହେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୋ, ମୋʼ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର, ମୁଁ ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛି, ଏହି ବାଳକର ପ୍ରାଣ ତାହା ମଧ୍ୟକୁ ଫେରିଆସୁ।”
22 And the LORD listened to the voice of Elijah, and the child’s life returned to him, and he lived.
ଏଥିରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏଲୀୟଙ୍କର ରବରେ କର୍ଣ୍ଣପାତ କଲେ; ପୁଣି, ବାଳକର ପ୍ରାଣ ପୁନର୍ବାର ତାହା ମଧ୍ୟକୁ ଆସନ୍ତେ, ସେ ପୁନର୍ଜୀବିତ ହେଲା।
23 Then Elijah took the child, brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. “Look, your son is alive,” Elijah declared.
ତହୁଁ ଏଲୀୟ ବାଳକକୁ ନେଇ କୋଠରିରୁ ଓହ୍ଲାଇ ଗୃହକୁ ଆଣି ତାହାର ମାତାର ହସ୍ତରେ ତାହାକୁ ସମର୍ପଣ କଲେ; ପୁଣି, ଏଲୀୟ କହିଲେ, “ଏହି ଦେଖ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ପୁତ୍ର ଜୀବିତ ହେଲା।”
24 Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is truth.”
ଏଥିରେ ସେ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଏଲୀୟଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଲୋକ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭ ମୁଖରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ ଯେ ସତ୍ୟ, ଏହା ଏବେ ମୁଁ ଜାଣିଲି।”
