1 Kings 15

1 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah,

Und im achtzehnten Jahre des Königs Jerobeam, des Sohnes Nebats, ward Abia König über Juda.

2 and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.

Er regierte drei Jahre zu Jerusalem; seine Mutter aber hieß Maacha, die Tochter Abisaloms.

3 And Abijam walked in all the sins that his father before him had committed, and his heart was not as fully devoted to the LORD his God as the heart of David his forefather had been.

Und er wandelte in allen Sünden seines Vaters, die dieser vor ihm verübt hatte, und sein Herz war nicht ungeteilt gegenüber Jahwe, seinem Gotte, wie das Herz seines Ahnherrn David.

4 Nevertheless, for the sake of David, the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up a son to succeed him and to make Jerusalem strong.

Denn nur um Davids willen verlieh ihm Jahwe, sein Gott, eine Leuchte zu Jerusalem, daß er seine Söhne nach ihm aufkommen und Jerusalem bestehen ließ,

5 For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not turned aside from anything the LORD commanded all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

weil David gethan hatte, was Jahwe wohlgefiel, und nichts von dem verabsäumt hatte, was er ihm geboten, sein ganzes Leben lang, außer in der Angelegenheit des Hethiters Uria.

6 And there was war between the houses of Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of Abijam’s life.

Es war aber Krieg zwischen Rehabeam und Jerobeam, solange er lebte.

7 As for the rest of the acts of Abijam, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

Was aber sonst noch von Abia zu sagen ist und alles, was er ausgeführt hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet in der Geschichte der Könige von Juda. Es war aber Krieg zwischen Abia und Jerobeam.

8 And Abijam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David, and his son Asa reigned in his place.

Und Abia legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids. Und sein Sohn Asa ward König an seiner Statt.

9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam’s reign over Israel, Asa became king of Judah,

Und im zwanzigsten Jahre Jerobeams, des Königs von Israel, ward Asa König über Juda.

10 and he reigned in Jerusalem forty-one years. His grandmother’s name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.

Er regierte aber einundvierzig Jahre zu Jerusalem, und seine Mutter hieß Maacha, die Tochter Uriels von Gibea.

11 And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his father David had done.

Und Asa that, was Jahwe wohlgefiel, wie sein Ahnherr David.

12 He banished the male shrine prostitutes from the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

So trieb er die der Unzucht Geweihten aus dem Land und beseitigte alle die Götzen, die seine Ahnen verfertigt hatten.

13 He also removed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made a detestable Asherah pole. Asa chopped down the pole and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

Ja, er setzte sogar seine Mutter Maacha von der Würde als Herrin ab, weil sie der Aschera ein Schandbild angefertigt hatte. Und Asa hieb ihr Schandbild um und verbrannte es im Kidronthale.

14 The high places were not removed, but Asa’s heart was fully devoted to the LORD all his days.

Die Höhen wurden zwar nicht abgeschafft; doch war das Herz Asas ungeteilt gegenüber Jahwe sein Leben lang.

15 And he brought into the house of the LORD the silver and gold and other articles that he and his father had dedicated.

Auch ließ er, was sein Vater geweiht hatte, sowie seine eigenen Weihgeschenke in den Tempel Jahwes bringen - Silber, Gold und Geräte.

16 Now there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their days.

Es war aber Krieg zwischen Asa und Baesa, dem Könige von Israel, so lange sie lebten.

17 Baasha king of Israel went to war against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.

Und zwar zog Baesa, der König von Israel, wider Juda heran und befestigte Rama, um zu verhindern, daß jemand bei Asa, dem Könige von Juda, aus- oder eingehe.

18 So Asa withdrew all the silver and gold that remained in the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal palace. He entrusted it to his servants and sent them with this message to Ben-hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus:

Da nahm Asa alles Silber und Gold, das in den Schatzkammern des Tempels Jahwes noch vorhanden war, und die Schätze des königlichen Palastes und händigte sie seinen Dienern ein; alsdann sandte sie der König Asa zu Benhadad, dem Sohne Tabrimmons, des Sohnes Hesions, dem Könige von Aram, der zu Damaskus wohnte, und ließ ihm sagen:

19 “Let there be a treaty between me and you, between my father and your father. See, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”

Es besteht ein Bündnis zwischen mir und dir, zwischen meinem Vater und deinem Vater. Hier sende ich dir ein Geschenk an Silber und Gold; wohlan! brich nun dein Bündnis mit Baesa, dem Könige von Israel, daß er von mir abziehe.

20 And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, conquering Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and the whole land of Naphtali, including the region of Chinnereth.

Benhadad aber schenkte dem König Asa Gehör und sandte seine Heeresobersten wider die Städte Israels und verheerte Jijon und Dan und Abel-Beth-Maacha und ganz Kinneroth samt der ganzen Landschaft Naphthali.

21 When Baasha learned of this, he stopped fortifying Ramah and withdrew to Tirzah.

Als dies Baesa vernahm, stand er davon ab, Rama noch weiter zu befestigen, und kehrte nach Thirza zurück.

22 Then King Asa summoned all the men of Judah, with no exceptions, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timbers Baasha had used for building. And with these materials King Asa built up Geba of Benjamin, as well as Mizpah.

Der König Asa aber bot das ganze Juda auf - niemand war ausgenommen -, und sie schafften die Steine und die Balken, die Baesa zur Befestigung von Rama verwendet hatte, fort, und der König Asa ließ damit Geba in Benjamin und Mizpa befestigen.

23 Now the rest of the acts of Asa, along with all his might, all his accomplishments, and the cities he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? In his old age, however, he became diseased in his feet.

Was aber sonst noch von Asa zu sagen ist und alle seine tapferen Thaten und alles was er ausgeführt hat, und die Städte, die er befestigt hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Juda. Doch litt er in seinem Alter an kranken Füßen.

24 And Asa rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the city of his father David, and his son Jehoshaphat reigned in his place.

Und Asa legte sich zu seinen Vätern und ward bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids, seines Ahnherrn, begraben. Und sein Sohn Josaphat ward König an seiner Statt.

25 In the second year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel, and he reigned two years.

Nadab aber, der Sohn Jerobeams, ward König über Israel im zweiten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, und regierte zwei Jahre über Israel.

26 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.

Und er that, was Jahwe mißfiel, und wandelte auf dem Wege seines Vaters und in seiner Sünde, zu der er Israel verführt hatte.

27 Then Baasha son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against Nadab, and Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon of the Philistines while Nadab and all Israel were besieging the city.

Aber Baesa, der Sohn Ahias, vom Hause Issachar, zettelte eine Verschwörung gegen ihn an, und Baesa erschlug ihn zu Gibbethon, welches den Philistern gehörte: Nadab und das ganze Israel belagerten nämlich gerade Gibbethon.

28 In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha killed Nadab and reigned in his place.

Also tötete ihn Baesa im dritten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, und ward König an seiner Statt.

29 As soon as Baasha became king, he struck down the entire household of Jeroboam. He did not leave to Jeroboam anyone that breathed, but destroyed them all according to the word that the LORD had spoken through His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,

Sobald er nun König geworden war, erschlug er alles, was zum Hause Jerobeams gehörte; er ließ von Jerobeam nichts übrig, was Odem hatte, bis er es vertilgt hatte, gemäß dem Worte Jahwes, das er durch seinen Knecht Ahia von Silo geredet hatte,

30 because of the sins Jeroboam had committed and had caused Israel to commit, and because he had provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger.

um der Sünden Jerobeams willen, die er verübt und zu denen er Israel verführt hatte, indem er Jahwe, den Gott Israels, zum Zorne reizte.

31 As for the rest of the acts of Nadab, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Was aber sonst noch von Nadab zu sagen ist und alles, was er ausgeführt hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.

32 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their days.

Es war aber Krieg zwischen Asa und Baesa, dem Könige von Israel, solange sie lebten.

33 In the third year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of all Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah twenty-four years.

Im dritten Jahre Asas, des Königs von Juda, ward Baesa, der Sohn Ahias, König über ganz Israel zu Thirza und regierte vierundzwanzig Jahre.

34 And Baasha did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.

Und er that, was Jahwe mißfiel, und wandelte auf dem Wege Jerobeams und in seiner Sünde, zu der er Israel verführt hatte.
