1 John 4
1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Amados, no creáis a todo espíritu; sino probád los espíritus si son de Dios. Porque muchos falsos profetas son salidos en el mundo.
2 By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
En esto se conoce el Espíritu de Dios: Todo espíritu que confiesa que Jesu Cristo es venido en carne, es de Dios;
3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time.
Y todo espíritu que no confiesa que Jesu Cristo es venido en carne, no es de Dios; y este tal espíritu es espíritu del anticristo, del cual vosotros habéis oído que ha de venir, y que ahora ya está en el mundo.
4 You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
Hijitos, vosotros sois de Dios, y los habéis vencido; porque el que en vosotros está, es mayor que el que está en el mundo.
5 They are of the world. That is why they speak from the world’s perspective, and the world listens to them.
Ellos son del mundo, por eso hablan del mundo, y el mundo los oye.
6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.
Nosotros somos de Dios: el que conoce a Dios, es nuestro escuchador: el que no es de Dios, no nos presta oídos. Por esto conocemos el espíritu de verdad, y el espíritu de error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
Carísimos, amémonos unos a otros; porque el amor es de Dios. Y cualquiera que ama, es nacido de Dios, y conoce a Dios.
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
El que no ama, no conoce a Dios; porque Dios es amor.
9 This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.
En esto se mostró el amor de Dios en nosotros, en que Dios envió su Hijo unigénito al mundo, para que vivamos por él.
10 And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
En esto consiste el amor, no que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino que él nos amó a nosotros, y envió a su Hijo para ser propiciación por nuestros pecados.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Amados, si Dios nos ha así amado, debemos también nosotros amarnos los unos a los otros.
12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us.
Ninguno vio jamás a Dios. Si nos amamos los unos a los otros, Dios está en nosotros, y su amor es perfecto en nosotros.
13 By this we know that we remain in Him, and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit.
En esto conocemos que moramos en él, y él en nosotros, en que nos ha dado de su Espíritu.
14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.
Y nosotros hemos visto, y testificamos que el Padre ha enviado a su Hijo para ser Salvador del mundo.
15 If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
Cualquiera que confesare que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, Dios está en él, y él en Dios.
16 And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
Y nosotros hemos conocido, y creído el amor que Dios tiene por nosotros. Dios es amor; y el que mora en amor mora en Dios, y Dios en él.
17 In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him.
En esto es perfecto el amor con nosotros, para que tengamos confianza en el día del juicio, que cual él es, tales somos nosotros en este mundo.
18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.
En el amor no hay temor; mas el perfecto amor echa fuera el temor; porque el temor tiene castigo. De donde el que teme, no es perfecto en el amor.
19 We love because He first loved us.
Nosotros le amamos a él, porque él primero nos amó.
20 If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
Si alguno dice: Yo amo a Dios, y aborrece a su hermano, es mentiroso. Porque el que no ama a su hermano, al cual ha visto, ¿cómo puede amar a Dios, que no ha visto?
21 And we have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.
Y nosotros tenemos este mandamiento de él: Que el que ama a Dios, ame también a su hermano.
