1 Chronicles 19
1 Some time later, Nahash king of the Ammonites died and was succeeded by his son.
௧அதன்பின்பு, அம்மோன் மக்களின் ராஜாவாகிய நாகாஸ் இறந்து, அவனுடைய மகன் அவனுடைய இடத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.
2 And David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent messengers to console Hanun concerning his father. But when David’s servants arrived in the land of the Ammonites to console him,
௨அப்பொழுது தாவீது: ஆனூனின் தகப்பனாகிய நாகாஸ் எனக்கு தயவு செய்ததுபோல, நானும் அவனுடைய மகனாகிய இவனுக்கு தயவுசெய்வேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுடைய தகப்பனுக்காக அவனுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்ல தூதுவர்களை அனுப்பினான்; தாவீதின் வேலைக்காரர்கள் ஆனூனுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்ல அம்மோனியர்களின் தேசத்திலே வந்தபோது,
3 the princes of the Ammonites said to Hanun, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really believe he is showing respect for your father? Have not his servants come to you to explore the land, spy it out, and overthrow it?”
௩அம்மோனியர்களின் பிரபுக்கள் ஆனூனைப் பார்த்து: தாவீது ஆறுதல் சொல்லுகிறவர்களை உம்மிடத்தில் அனுப்பினது, உம்முடைய தகப்பனுக்கு மரியாதை கொடுப்பதாக உமக்குத் தோன்றுகிறதோ? தேசத்தை ஆராயவும், அதைக் கவிழ்த்துப்போடவும், உளவுபார்க்கவும் அல்லவோ, அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள் உம்மிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.
4 So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved their beards, cut off their garments at the hips, and sent them away.
௪அப்பொழுது ஆனூன்: தாவீதின் வேலைக்காரர்களைப் பிடித்து, அவர்கள் தாடியைச் சிரைத்து, அவர்களுடைய ஆடைகளை இடுப்புவரை வைத்துவிட்டு, மற்றபாதியைக் கத்தரித்து, அவர்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.
5 When someone came and told David about his men, he sent messengers to meet them, since the men had been thoroughly humiliated. The king told them, “Stay in Jericho until your beards have grown back, and then return.”
௫அந்த மனிதர்கள் வரும்போது, அவர்களுடைய செய்தி தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது; அப்பொழுது அந்த மனிதர்கள் மிகவும் வெட்கப்பட்டதால், அவர்களுக்கு எதிராக ராஜா ஆட்களை அனுப்பி: உங்களுடைய தாடி வளரும்வரை நீங்கள் எரிகோவில் தங்கியிருந்து, பின்பு வாருங்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.
6 When the Ammonites realized that they had become a stench to David, Hanun and the Ammonites sent a thousand talents of silver to hire for themselves chariots and horsemen from Aram-naharaim, Aram-maacah, and Zobah.
௬அம்மோன் மக்கள் தாங்கள் தாவீதுக்கு அருவருப்பானதைக் கண்டபோது, ஆனூனும் அம்மோனியர்கள் மெசொப்பொத்தாமியாவிலும் மாக்காசோபா என்னும் சீரியர்களின் தேசத்திலுமிருந்து தங்களுக்கு இரதங்களும் குதிரை வீரர்களும் கூலிக்கு வரும்படி ஆயிரம் தாலந்து வெள்ளி அனுப்பி,
7 So they hired for themselves thirty-two thousand chariots, as well as the king of Maacah with his troops, who came and camped near Medeba while the Ammonites came from their cities and marched out for battle.
௭முப்பத்திரெண்டாயிரம் இரதங்களையும், மாக்காவின் ராஜாவையும், அவனுடைய மக்களையும் கூலிப்படையாக அழைத்தனுப்பினான்; இவர்கள் வந்து, மெதெபாவுக்கு முன்புறத்திலே முகாமிட்டார்கள்; அம்மோனியர்கள் தங்களுடைய பட்டணங்களிலிருந்து கூடிக்கொண்டு யுத்தம்செய்யவந்தார்கள்.
8 On hearing this, David sent Joab and the entire army of mighty men.
௮அதைத் தாவீது கேட்டபோது, யோவாபையும் பலசாலிகளின் இராணுவம் முழுவதையும் அனுப்பினான்.
9 The Ammonites marched out and arrayed themselves for battle at the entrance to the city, while the kings who had come stayed by themselves in the open country.
௯அம்மோனிய மக்கள் புறப்பட்டுவந்து, பட்டணத்து வாசலருகில் அணிவகுத்தார்கள்; வந்த ராஜாக்கள் தனித்து வெளியிலே போருக்கு ஆயத்தமாக நின்றார்கள்.
10 When Joab saw the battle lines before him and behind him, he selected some of the best men of Israel and arrayed them against the Arameans.
௧0யுத்த இராணுவங்களின் படை தனக்கு நேராக முன்னும் பின்னும் இருப்பதை யோவாப் கண்டு, அவன் இஸ்ரவேலிலே தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட எல்லா இராணுவங்களிலும் ஒரு பங்கைப் பிரித்தெடுத்து, அதை சீரியர்களுக்கு எதிராக நிறுத்தி,
11 And he placed the rest of the forces under the command of his brother Abishai, who arrayed them against the Ammonites.
௧௧மற்ற மக்களை அம்மோன் இராணுவத்திற்கு எதிராகப் போருக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்தி, தன்னுடைய சகோதரனாகிய அபிசாயிக்கு ஒப்புவித்து, அவனை நோக்கி:
12 “If the Arameans are too strong for me,” said Joab, “then you will come to my rescue. And if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will come to your rescue.
௧௨என்னைவிட சீரியர்கள் பலங்கொண்டால் நீ எனக்குத் துணை நில்; உன்னைவிட அம்மோன் இராணுவத்தினர்கள் பலங்கொண்டால் நான் உனக்குத் துணை நிற்பேன்.
13 Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and for the cities of our God. May the LORD do what is good in His sight.”
௧௩தைரியமாக இரு; நாம் நம்முடைய மக்களுக்காகவும், நமது தேவனுடைய பட்டணங்களுக்காகவும் நம்முடைய பெலத்தைக் காட்டுவோம்; யெகோவா தமது பார்வைக்கு நலமானதைச் செய்வாராக என்றான்.
14 So Joab and his troops advanced to fight the Arameans, who fled before him.
௧௪பின்பு யோவாபும் அவனோடிருந்த மக்களும் சீரியர்களோடு யுத்தம்செய்ய நெருங்கினார்கள்; அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு முன்பாக தப்பியோடினார்கள்.
15 When the Ammonites saw that the Arameans had fled, they too fled before Joab’s brother Abishai, and they entered the city. So Joab went back to Jerusalem.
௧௫சீரியர்கள் தப்பியோடுவதை அம்மோன் இராணுவத்தினர்கள் கண்டபோது, அவர்களும் அவனுடைய சகோதரனாகிய அபிசாயிக்கு முன்பாக தப்பியோடிப் பட்டணத்திற்குள் நுழைந்தார்கள்; யோவாப் திரும்ப எருசலேமிற்கு வந்தான்.
16 When the Arameans saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers to bring more Arameans from beyond the Euphrates, with Shophach the commander of Hadadezer’s army leading them.
௧௬தாங்கள் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாக தோற்கடிக்கப்பட்டதைக் கண்டபோது, அவர்கள் நதிக்கு மறுகரையில் சீரியர்களை வரவழைத்தார்கள்; ஆதாரேசரின் படைத்தலைவனாகிய சோப்பாக் அவர்களுக்கு முன்னாலே நடந்துபோனான்.
17 When this was reported to David, he gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan, advanced toward the Arameans, and arrayed for battle against them. When David lined up to engage them in battle, they fought against him.
௧௭அது தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, அவன் இஸ்ரவேலையெல்லாம் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, அவர்களுக்கு அருகில் வந்தபோது, அவர்களுக்கு எதிராக இராணுவங்களை நிறுத்தினான்; தாவீது சீரியர்களுக்கு எதிராக இராணுவங்களைப் போருக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்தினபின்பு அவனோடு யுத்தம்செய்தார்கள்.
18 But the Arameans fled before Israel, and David killed seven thousand of their charioteers and forty thousand foot soldiers. He also killed Shophach the commander of their army.
௧௮சீரியர்கள் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாக தப்பி ஓடினார்கள்; தாவீது சீரியர்களில் ஏழாயிரம் இரதங்களின் மனிதர்களையும், நாற்பதாயிரம் காலாட்களையும் கொன்று, படைத்தலைவனாகிய சோப்பாக்கையும் கொன்றான்.
19 When Hadadezer’s subjects saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and became subject to him. So the Arameans were unwilling to help the Ammonites anymore.
௧௯தாங்கள் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாக தோற்கடிக்கப்பட்டதை ஆதாரேசருக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்கிற எல்லா ராஜாக்களும் கண்டபோது, அவர்கள் தாவீதோடு சமாதானம்செய்து, அவனுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்தார்கள்; அதன்பின்பு அம்மோன் மக்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்ய சீரியர்கள் மனமில்லாதிருந்தார்கள்.
