< 1 Chronicles 16 >
1 So they brought the ark of God and placed it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And they presented burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
adtulerunt igitur arcam Dei et constituerunt eam in medio tabernaculi quod tetenderat ei David et obtulerunt holocausta et pacifica coram Deo
2 When David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
cumque conplesset David offerens holocausta et pacifica benedixit populo in nomine Domini
3 Then he distributed to every man and woman of Israel a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.
et divisit universis per singulos a viro usque ad mulierem tortam panis et partem assae carnis bubulae et frixam oleo similam
4 David appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel.
constituitque coram arca Domini de Levitis qui ministrarent et recordarentur operum eius et glorificarent atque laudarent Dominum Deum Israhel
5 Asaph was the chief, Zechariah was second, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They were to play the harps and lyres, while Asaph sounded the cymbals
Asaph principem et secundum eius Zacchariam porro Iahihel et Semiramoth et Ieihel et Matthathiam et Eliab et Banaiam et Obededom et Ieihel super organa psalterii et lyras Asaph autem ut cymbalis personaret
6 and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel blew the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God.
Banaiam vero et Azihel sacerdotes canere tuba iugiter coram arca foederis Domini
7 On that day David first committed to Asaph and his brothers this song of thanksgiving to the LORD:
in illo die fecit David principem ad confitendum Domino Asaph et fratres eius
8 “Give thanks to the LORD; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the nations.
confitemini Domino invocate nomen eius notas facite in populis adinventiones illius
9 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonders.
canite ei et psallite et narrate omnia mirabilia eius
10 Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
laudate nomen sanctum eius laetetur cor quaerentium Dominum
11 Seek out the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.
quaerite Dominum et virtutem eius quaerite faciem eius semper
12 Remember the wonders He has done, His marvels, and the judgments He has pronounced,
recordamini mirabilium eius quae fecit signorum illius et iudiciorum oris eius
13 O offspring of His servant Israel, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.
semen Israhel servi eius filii Iacob electi illius
14 He is the LORD our God; His judgments carry throughout the earth.
ipse Dominus Deus noster in universa terra iudicia eius
15 Remember His covenant forever, the word He ordained for a thousand generations—
recordamini in sempiternum pacti eius sermonis quem praecepit in mille generationes
16 the covenant He made with Abraham, and the oath He swore to Isaac.
quem pepigit cum Abraham et iuramenti illius cum Isaac
17 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
et constituit illud Iacob in praeceptum et Israhel in pactum sempiternum
18 ‘I will give you the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.’
dicens tibi dabo terram Chanaan funiculum hereditatis vestrae
19 When they were few in number, few indeed, and strangers in the land,
cum essent pauci numero parvi et coloni eius
20 they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.
et transierunt de gente in gentem et de regno ad populum alterum
21 He let no man oppress them; He rebuked kings on their behalf:
non dimisit quemquam calumniari eos sed increpuit pro eis reges
22 ‘Do not touch My anointed ones! Do no harm to My prophets!’
nolite tangere christos meos et in prophetis meis nolite malignari
23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Proclaim His salvation day after day.
canite Domino omnis terra adnuntiate ex die in diem salutare eius
24 Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all peoples.
narrate in gentibus gloriam eius in cunctis populis mirabilia illius
25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.
quia magnus Dominus et laudabilis nimis et horribilis super omnes deos
26 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but it is the LORD who made the heavens.
omnes enim dii populorum idola Dominus autem caelos fecit
27 Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and joy fill His dwelling.
confessio et magnificentia coram eo fortitudo et gaudium in loco eius
28 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
adferte Domino familiae populorum adferte Domino gloriam et imperium
29 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness;
date Domino gloriam nomini eius levate sacrificium et venite in conspectu eius et adorate Dominum in decore sancto
30 tremble before Him, all the earth. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.
commoveatur a facie illius omnis terra ipse enim fundavit orbem inmobilem
31 Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice. Let them say among the nations, ‘The LORD reigns!’
laetentur caeli et exultet terra et dicant in nationibus Dominus regnavit
32 Let the sea resound, and all that fills it; let the fields exult, and all that is in them.
tonet mare et plenitudo eius exultent agri et omnia quae in eis sunt
33 Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth.
tunc laudabunt ligna saltus coram Domino quia venit iudicare terram
34 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever.
confitemini Domino quoniam bonus quoniam in aeternum misericordia eius
35 Then cry out: ‘Save us, O God of our salvation; gather and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to Your holy name, that we may glory in Your praise.’
et dicite salva nos Deus salvator noster et congrega nos et erue de gentibus ut confiteamur nomini sancto tuo et exultemus in carminibus tuis
36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.” Then all the people said, “Amen!” and “Praise the LORD!”
benedictus Dominus Deus Israhel ab aeterno usque in aeternum et dicat omnis populus amen et hymnus Domino
37 So David left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to minister there regularly according to the daily requirements,
dereliquit itaque ibi coram arca foederis Domini Asaph et fratres eius ut ministrarent in conspectu arcae iugiter per singulos dies et vices suas
38 along with Obed-edom and his sixty-eight relatives. Obed-edom son of Jeduthun, and also Hosah, were to be gatekeepers.
porro Obededom et fratres eius sexaginta octo et Obededom filium Idithun et Osa constituit ianitores
39 And David left Zadok the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the LORD at the high place in Gibeon
Sadoc autem sacerdotem et fratres illius sacerdotes coram tabernaculo Domini in excelso quod erat in Gabaon
40 to regularly present burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offerings, morning and evening, according to all that was written in the Law of the LORD, which He had commanded Israel to keep.
ut offerrent holocausta Domino super altare holocaustomatis iugiter mane et vespere iuxta omnia quae scripta sunt in lege Domini quam praecepit Israheli
41 With them were Heman, Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, for “His loving devotion endures forever.”
et post eum Heman et Idithun et reliquos electos unumquemque vocabulo suo ad confitendum Domino quoniam in aeternum misericordia eius
42 Heman and Jeduthun had with them trumpets and cymbals for the music and instruments for the songs of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.
Heman quoque et Idithun canentes tuba et quatientes cymbala et omnia musicorum organa ad canendum Deo filios autem Idithun fecit esse portarios
43 Then all the people departed for their homes, and David returned home to bless his household.
reversusque est omnis populus in domum suam et David ut benediceret etiam domui suae
