1 Chronicles 12
1 Now these were the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he was still banished from the presence of Saul son of Kish (they were among the mighty men who helped him in battle;
ダビデがキシの子サウルにしりぞけられて、なおチクラグにいた時、次の人々が彼のもとに来た。彼らはダビデを助けて戦った勇士たちのうちにあり、
2 they were archers using both the right and left hands to sling stones and shoot arrows; and they were Saul’s kinsmen from Benjamin):
弓をよくする者、左右いずれの手をもってもよく矢を射、石を投げる者で、ともにベニヤミンびとで、サウルの同族である。
3 Ahiezer their chief and Joash, who were the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; Jeziel and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth; Beracah; Jehu the Anathothite;
そのかしらはアヒエゼル、次はヨアシで、ともにギベア出身のシマアの子たちである。またエジエルとペレテで、ともにアズマウテの子たちである。またベラカおよびアナトテ出身のエヒウ。
4 Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the Thirty and a leader over the Thirty; Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan, and Jozabad the Gederathite;
またギベオン出身のイシマヤ、彼は三十人のうちの勇士で、その三十人の長である。またエレミヤ、ヤハジエル、ヨハナン、ゲデラ出身のヨザバデ、
5 Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, and Shephatiah the Haruphite;
エルザイ、エリモテ、ベアリヤ、シマリヤ、ハリフびとシパテヤ、
6 Elkanah, Isshiah, Azarel, Joezer, and Jashobeam, who were Korahites;
エルカナ、イシア、アザリエル、ヨエゼル、ヤショベアムで、これらはコラびとである。
7 and Joelah and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham from Gedor.
またゲドルのエロハムの子たちであるヨエラおよびゼバデヤである。
8 Some Gadites defected to David at his stronghold in the desert. They were mighty men of valor, trained for battle, experts with the shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions and who were as swift as gazelles on the mountains:
ガドびとのうちから荒野の要害に来て、ダビデについた者は皆勇士で、よく戦う軍人、よく盾とやりをつかう者、その顔はししの顔のようで、その速いことは山にいるしかのようであった。
9 Ezer the chief, Obadiah the second in command, Eliab the third,
彼らのかしらはエゼル、次はオバデヤ、第三はエリアブ、
10 Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,
第四はミシマンナ、第五はエレミヤ、
11 Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,
第六はアッタイ、第七はエリエル、
12 Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,
第八はヨナハン、第九はエルザバデ、
13 Jeremiah the tenth, and Machbanai the eleventh.
第十はエレミヤ、第十一はマクバナイである。
14 These Gadites were army commanders, the least of whom was a match for a hundred, and the greatest for a thousand.
これらはガドの子孫で軍勢の長たる者、その最も小さい者でも百人に当り、その最も大いなる者は千人に当った。
15 These are the ones who crossed the Jordan in the first month when it was overflowing all its banks, and they put to flight all those in the valleys, both to the east and to the west.
正月、ヨルダンがその全岸にあふれたとき、彼らはこれを渡って、谷々にいる者をことごとく東に西に逃げ走らせた。
16 Other Benjamites and some men from Judah also came to David in his stronghold.
ベニヤミンとユダの子孫のうちの人々が要害に来て、ダビデについた。
17 And David went out to meet them, saying, “If you have come to me in peace to help me, my heart will be united with you; but if you have come to betray me to my enemies when my hands are free of violence, may the God of our fathers see it and judge you.”
ダビデは出て彼らを迎えて言った、「あなたがたが好意をもって、わたしを助けるために来たのならば、わたしの心もあなたがたと、ひとつになりましょう。しかし、わたしの手になんの悪事もないのに、もしあなたがたが、わたしを欺いて、敵に渡すためであるならば、われわれの先祖の神がどうぞみそなわして、あなたがたを責められますように」。
18 Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, the chief of the Thirty, and he said: “We are yours, O David! We are with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers, for your God helps you.” So David received them and made them leaders of his troops.
時に霊が三十人の長アマサイに臨み、アマサイは言った、「ダビデよ、われわれはあなたのもの。エッサイの子よ、われわれはあなたと共にある。平安あれ、あなたに平安あれ。あなたを助ける者に平安あれ。あなたの神があなたを助けられる」。そこでダビデは彼らを受けいれて部隊の長とした。
19 Some from Manasseh defected to David when he went with the Philistines to fight against Saul. (They did not help the Philistines because the Philistine rulers consulted and sent David away, saying, “It will cost us our heads if he defects to his master Saul.”)
さきにダビデがペリシテびとと共にサウルと戦おうと攻めて来たとき、マナセびと数人がダビデについた。（ただしダビデはついにペリシテびとを助けなかった。それはペリシテびとの君たちが相はかって、「彼はわれわれの首をとって、その主君サウルのもとに帰るであろう」と言って、彼を去らせたからである。）
20 When David went to Ziklag, these men of Manasseh defected to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.
ダビデがチクラグへ行ったとき、マナセびとアデナ、ヨザバデ、エデアエル、ミカエル、ヨザバデ、エリウ、ヂルタイが彼についた。皆マナセびとの千人の長であった。
21 They helped David against the raiders, for they were all mighty men of valor and commanders in the army.
彼らはダビデを助けて敵軍に当った。彼らは皆大勇士で軍勢の長であった。
22 For at that time men came to David day after day to help him, until he had a great army, like the army of God.
ダビデを助ける者が日に日に加わって、ついに大軍となり、神の軍勢のようになった。
23 Now these are the numbers of men armed for battle who came to David at Hebron to turn Saul’s kingdom over to him, in accordance with the word of the LORD:
主の言葉に従い、サウルの国をダビデに与えようとして、ヘブロンにいるダビデのもとに来た武装した軍隊の数は、次のとおりである。
24 From Judah: 6,800 armed troops bearing shields and spears.
ユダの子孫で盾とやりをとり、武装した者六千八百人、
25 From Simeon: 7,100 mighty men of valor, ready for battle.
シメオンの子孫で、よく戦う勇士七千百人、
26 From Levi: 4,600,
レビの子孫からは四千六百人。
27 including Jehoiada, leader of the house of Aaron, with 3,700 men,
エホヤダはアロンの家のつかさで、彼に属する者は三千七百人。
28 and Zadok, a mighty young man of valor, with 22 commanders from his own family.
ザドクは年若い勇士で、彼の氏族から出た将軍は二十二人。
29 From Benjamin, the kinsmen of Saul: 3,000, most of whom had remained loyal to the house of Saul up to that time.
サウルの同族、ベニヤミンの子孫からは三千人、ベニヤミンびとの多くはなおサウルの家に忠義をつくしていた。
30 From Ephraim: 20,800 mighty men of valor, famous among their own clans.
エフライムの子孫からは二万八百人、皆勇士で、その氏族の名ある人々であった。
31 From the half-tribe of Manasseh: 18,000 designated by name to come and make David king.
マナセの半部族からは一万八千人、皆ダビデを王に立てようとして上って来て、名をつらねた者である。
32 From Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do: 200 chiefs with all their kinsmen at their command.
イッサカルの子孫からはよく時勢に通じ、イスラエルのなすべきことをわきまえた人々が来た。その長たる者が二百人あって、その兄弟たちは皆その指揮に従った。
33 From Zebulun: 50,000 fit for service, trained for battle with all kinds of weapons of war, who with one purpose were devoted to David.
ゼブルンからは五万人、皆訓練を経た軍隊で、もろもろの武具で身をよろい、一心にダビデを助けた者である。
34 From Naphtali: 1,000 commanders, accompanied by 37,000 men with shield and spear.
ナフタリからは将たる者一千人および盾とやりをとってこれに従う者三万七千人。
35 From Dan: 28,600 prepared for battle.
ダンびとからは武装した者二万八千六百人。
36 From Asher: 40,000 fit for service, prepared for battle.
アセルからは戦いの備えをした熟練の者四万人。
37 And from east of the Jordan, from Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh there: 120,000 armed with every kind of weapon of war.
またヨルダンのかなたルベンびと、ガドびと、マナセの半部族からはもろもろの武具で身をよろった者十二万人であった。
38 All these men of war, arrayed for battle, came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. And all the rest of the Israelites were of one mind to make David king.
すべてこれらの戦いの備えをしたいくさびとらは真心をもってヘブロンに来て、ダビデを全イスラエルの王にしようとした。このほかのイスラエルびともまた、心をひとつにしてダビデを王にしようとした。
39 They spent three days there eating and drinking with David, for their relatives had provided for them.
彼らはヘブロンにダビデとともに三日いて、食い飲みした。その兄弟たちは彼らのために備えをしたからである。
40 And their neighbors from as far away as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali came bringing food on donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen—abundant supplies of flour, fig cakes and raisin cakes, wine and oil, oxen and sheep. Indeed, there was joy in Israel.
また彼らに近い人々はイッサカル、ゼブルン、ナフタリなどの遠い所の者まで、ろば、らくだ、騾馬、牛などに食物を負わせて来た。すなわち麦粉の食物、干いちじく、干ぶどう、ぶどう酒、油、牛、羊などを多く携えて来た。これはイスラエルに喜びがあったからである。
