1 Chronicles 10
1 Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled before them, and many fell slain on Mount Gilboa.
১একবার পলেষ্টীয়েরা ইস্রায়েলীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করল আর ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা পলেষ্টীয়দের সামনে থেকে পালিয়ে গেল এবং গিল্বোয় পর্বতে আহত হয়ে পড়তে লাগল।
2 The Philistines followed hard after Saul and his sons, and they killed Saul’s sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua.
২আর পলেষ্টীয়েরা শৌল ও তাঁর ছেলেদের পিছনে পিছনে তাড়া করে তাঁর ছেলে যোনাথন, অবীনাদব ও মল্কীশূয়কে মেরে ফেলল।
3 When the battle intensified against Saul, the archers overtook him and wounded him.
৩তারপর শৌলের বিরুদ্ধে আরও ভীষণভাবে যুদ্ধ চলতে লাগল। তীরন্দাজেরা তাকে দেখতে পেল। তীরন্দাজেরা কারণে শৌলের ভীষণ ভয় উপস্থিত হল।
4 Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run it through me, or these uncircumcised men will come and torture me!” But his armor-bearer was terrified and refused to do it. So Saul took his own sword and fell on it.
৪শৌল তখন তাঁর অস্ত্র বহনকারী লোকটিকে বললেন, “তোমার তলোয়ার বের কর এবং আমার দেহে বিঁধিয়ে দাও; তা না হলে ঐ অচ্ছিন্নত্বক লোকেরা এসে আমাকে অপমান করবে।” কিন্তু তাঁর অস্ত্র বহনকারী লোকটি তা করতে রাজি হল না, কারণ সে খুব ভয় পেয়েছিল। তখন শৌল তাঁর নিজের তলোয়ার নিয়ে নিজেই তার উপরে পড়লেন।
5 When his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his own sword and died.
৫শৌল মারা গেছেন দেখে তাঁর অস্ত্র বহনকারীও নিজের তলোয়ারের উপর পড়ে মারা গেল।
6 So Saul died together with his three sons and all his house.
৬এভাবে শৌল, তাঁর তিন ছেলে এবং তাঁর পরিবারের লোকেরা এক সঙ্গে মারা গেলেন।
7 When all the Israelites in the valley saw that the army had fled and that Saul and his sons had died, they abandoned their cities and ran away. So the Philistines came and occupied their cities.
৭যেসব ইস্রায়েলীয় লোক সেই দিন উপত্যকায় ছিল, তারা যখন দেখল যে, লোকেরা পালিয়ে গেছে এবং শৌল ও তাঁর ছেলেরা মারা পড়েছেন তখন তারাও তাদের নগরগুলো ছেড়ে পালিয়ে গেল, আর পলেষ্টীয়েরা এসে সেই সব নগরে বাস করতে লাগল।
8 The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
৮পরের দিন পলেষ্টীয়েরা মৃত লোকদের সব কিছু লুট করতে এসে দেখল গিলবোয় পর্বতের উপরে শৌল ও তাঁর ছেলেদের মৃতদেহ পড়ে আছে।
9 They stripped Saul, cut off his head, took his armor, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to proclaim the news in the temple of their idols and among their people.
৯তখন তারা শৌলের মাথা কেটে নিল এবং তাঁর সাজ পোশাক ও অস্ত্রশস্ত্র খুলে নিল। এই খবর তাদের সমস্ত দেব দেবতা ও লোকদের কাছে ঘোষণা করবার জন্য তারা পলেষ্টীয় দেশের সব জায়গায় সেগুলো পাঠিয়ে দিল।
10 They put his armor in the temple of their gods and hung his head in the temple of Dagon.
১০তারপর তারা শৌলের অস্ত্রশস্ত্র তাদের দেবতাদের মন্দিরে রাখল আর তার মাথাটা দাগোন দেবতার মন্দিরে টাঙ্গিয়ে দিল।
11 When the people of Jabesh-gilead heard about everything the Philistines had done to Saul,
১১পলেষ্টীয়েরা শৌলের প্রতি যা করেছে যাবেশ গিলিয়দের সমস্ত লোক তা শুনতে পেল।
12 all their men of valor set out and retrieved the bodies of Saul and his sons and brought them to Jabesh. And they buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh and fasted seven days.
১২তখন সেখানকার বীর সৈন্যেরা গিয়ে শৌল ও তাঁর ছেলেদের মৃতদেহগুলো যাবেশে নিয়ে এল। যাবেশের এলা গাছের তলায় তারা তাঁদের হাড়গুলো কবর দিল এবং সাত দিন উপবাস করল।
13 So Saul died for his unfaithfulness to the LORD, because he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance,
১৩সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি অবিশ্বস্ত হয়েছিলেন বলে শৌল মারা গেলেন। তিনি সদাপ্রভুর কথা মেনে চলেন নি; এমন কি, সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে পরামর্শ না চেয়ে তিনি এই রূপে পরামর্শ নিয়েছিলেন যে ভুতড়িয়ার কাছে।
14 and he failed to inquire of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse.
১৪সেইজন্যই সদাপ্রভু তাঁর মৃত্যু ঘটালেন এবং রাজ্যটা যিশয়ের ছেলে দায়ূদের হাতে তুলে দিলেন।
