< Philippians 1 >

1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus that are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Paul and Timotheus the seruants of IESVS CHRIST, to all the Saintes in Christ Iesus which are at Philippi, with the Bishops, and Deacons:
2 grace be to you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace be with you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ.
3 I thank my God on every remembrance of you―
I thanke my God, hauing you in perfect memorie,
4 always in every supplication of mine for you all, making my supplication with joy―
(Alwayes in all my praiers for all you, praying with gladnesse)
5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day till now:
Because of the fellowship which ye haue in the Gospel, from the first day vnto nowe.
6 being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you, will carry it on till the day of Jesus Christ;
And I am persuaded of this same thing, that he that hath begunne this good worke in you, wil perfourme it vntill the day of Iesus Christ,
7 as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I say I have you in my heart; both in my bonds and in my defense and confirmation of the gospel, I say I have you all in my heart as being joint partakers of my grace.
As it becommeth me so to iudge of you all, because I haue you in remembrance that both in my bands, and in my defence, and confirmation of the Gospell you all were partakers of my grace.
8 For God is my witness how ardently I love you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
For God is my recorde, howe I long after you all from the very heart roote in Iesus Christ.
9 I also pray for this, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all understanding,
And this I pray, that your loue may abound, yet more and more in knowledge, and in all iudgement,
10 in order that you may distinguish things that differ, to the end that you may be pure and blameless till the day of Christ,
That ye may alowe those things which are best, that ye may be pure, and without offence vntill the day of Christ,
11 being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which fruit is by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Filled with the fruites of righteousnesse, which are by Iesus Christ vnto the glorie and praise of God.
12 But I wish you to know, brethren, that the things which have befallen me have turned out rather to the advancement of the gospel;
I would ye vnderstood, brethren, that the things which haue come vnto me, are turned rather to the furthering of the Gospell,
13 so that my bonds which are for Christ have become known to be such in all the palace, and in all other places;
So that my bandes in Christ are famous throughout all the iudgement hall, and in all other places,
14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having confidence in my bonds, are more bold to speak the word without fear.
In so much that many of the brethren in the Lord are boldened through my bandes, and dare more frankely speake the word.
15 Some, indeed, preach the Christ, because of envy and a contentious disposition, and some because of good-will.
Some preache. Christ euen through enuie and strife, and some also of good will.
16 These do it from love, because they know that I am set for the defense of the gospel;
The one part preacheth Christ of contention and not purely, supposing to adde more affliction to my bandes.
17 those preach Christ from a contentious disposition, not sincerely, thinking that they will add affliction to my bonds.
But the others of loue, knowing that I am set for the defence of the Gospell.
18 What difference does this make? Christ is, nevertheless, preached in every way, whether in pretense or in truth; and in this I rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice:
What then? yet Christ is preached all maner wayes, whether it be vnder a pretence, or syncerely: and I therein ioye: yea and will ioye.
19 for I know that this will result in my benefit through your supplication, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
For I knowe that this shall turne to my saluation through your prayer, and by the helpe of the Spirit of Iesus Christ,
20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing shall I be ashamed, but with all boldness, as at all times, so even now, Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.
As I feruently looke for, and hope, that in nothing I shalbe ashamed, but that with all confidence, as alwayes, so nowe Christ shalbe magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
For Christ is to me both in life, and in death aduantage.
22 But if this, my life in the flesh, would be profitable for my work in the ministry, verily, what I should choose I know not.
And whether to liue in the flesh were profitable for me, and what to chuse I knowe not.
23 I am in a strait between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better:
For I am distressed betweene both, desiring to be loosed and to be with Christ, which is best of all.
24 yet to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Neuerthelesse, to abide in the flesh, is more needefull for you.
25 And of this I feel assured, that I shall remain and continue among you all for your advancement and joy in the faith,
And this am I sure of, that I shall abide, and with you all continue, for your furtherance and ioy of your faith,
26 that your rejoicing in Christ Jesus may become more abundant through me by my being present among you again.
That ye may more aboundantly reioyce in IESVS CHRIST for me, by my comming to you againe.
27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of the Christ, that, whether I come and see you, or be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel,
Onely let your conuersation be, as it becommeth the Gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you, or els be absent, I may heare of your matters that ye continue in one Spirit, and in one mind, fighting together through the faith of the Gospel.
28 and in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
And in nothing feare your aduersaries, which is to them a token of perdition, and to you of saluation, and that of God.
29 For to you it is given in behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but, also, to suffer for him,
For vnto you it is giuen for Christ, that not onely ye should beleeue in him, but also suffer for his sake,
30 since you have the same conflict that you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
Hauing the same fight, which ye sawe in me, and nowe heare to be in me.
