Matthew 12
1 At that time Jesus was going, on the Sabbath, through the fields of grain; and his disciples were hungry, and began to pull the ears of grain, and to eat.
Naquele tempo Jesus estava indo pelas plantações de cereais no sábado. Seus discípulos tinham fome, e começaram a arrancar espigas e a comer.
2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him: Behold, your disciples are doing what it is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.
Quando os fariseus viram, disseram-lhe: Eis que os teus discípulos fazem o que não é lícito fazer no sábado.
3 But he said to them: Have you not read what David did, when he and those who were with him were hungry?
Ele, porém, lhes disse: Não lestes o que Davi fez quando teve fome, ele e os que com ele estavam,
4 how he entered the house of God, and ate the loaves of the presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but for the priests only?
Como ele entrou na casa de Deus, e comeram os pães da proposição, que a ele não era lícito comer, nem também aos que com ele estavam, a não ser somente aos sacerdotes?
5 Or, have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath-days the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?
Ou não lestes na Lei que, nos sábados, os sacerdotes no Templo profanam o sábado, sem se tornarem culpados?
6 But I say to you, that something greater than the temple is here.
Eu, porém, vos digo que o maior que o Templo está aqui.
7 But if you had known what this means―I desire mercy, and not sacrifice―you would not have condemned the blameless.
Mas se vós soubésseis o que significa: ‘Quero misericórdia, e não sacrifício’, não condenaríeis os inocentes.
8 For the Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath.
Porque o Filho do homem é Senhor do sábado.
9 And he departed thence, and went into their synagogue.
E partindo dali, [Jesus] entrou na sinagoga deles.
10 And behold, a man was there that had a withered hand. And they asked him, saying: Is it lawful to cure on the Sabbath-days? that they might accuse him.
E eis que havia ali um homem que tinha uma mão definhada; e eles, a fim de o acusarem, perguntaram-lhe: É lícito curar nos sábados?
11 And he said to them: What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if this fall into a pit on the Sabbath-day, will he not lay hold on it and lift it out?
E ele lhes respondeu: Qual de vós será a pessoa que, caso tenha uma ovelha, e se a tal cair em uma cova no sábado, não usará de sua força para a levantar?
12 How much better, then, is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath-days.
Ora, quanto mais vale um ser humano que uma ovelha! Assim, pois, é lícito fazer o bem nos sábados.
13 Then he said to the man: Stretch forth your hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored to soundness, like the other.
Então disse para aquele homem: Estende a tua mão. Ele a estendeu, e foi-lhe restaurada, sã como a outra.
14 But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against him, that they might destroy him.
Então os fariseus saíram e se reuniram para planejar contra ele, como o matariam.
15 But Jesus perceived it, and withdrew from that place. And many multitudes followed him, and he cured them all.
Mas Jesus, sabendo disso, retirou-se dali. Muitos o seguiram, e ele curou a todos.
16 And he charged them not to make him known;
E ele lhes ordenava que não o tornassem conhecido;
17 that the word might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
Para que se cumprisse o que foi dito pelo profeta Isaías:
18 Be hold, my servant whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul delights. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall declare law to the Gentiles.
Eis aqui meu servo a quem escolhi, meu amado em quem minha alma se agrada; sobre ele porei o meu Espírito, e ele anunciará justiça às nações.
19 He shall not contend, nor cry out; nor shall any one hear his voice in the streets.
Ele não fará brigas, nem gritará; ninguém ouvirá pelas ruas a sua voz.
20 A bruised reed he shall not break, and a smoking wick he shall not extinguish, till he shall send forth his law for conquest.
A cana rachada ele não quebrará, o pavio que fumega ele não apagará, até que conduza a justiça à vitória.
21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
E em seu nome as nações terão esperança.
22 Then was brought to him a demoniac, blind and dumb: and he cured him, so that the blind and dumb man both spoke and saw.
Então lhe trouxeram um endemoninhado cego e mudo; e ele o curou de tal maneira que o mudo passou a falar e a ver.
23 And all the people were amazed, and said: Is not this the son of David?
E todas as multidões se admiravam e diziam: Não é este o Filho de Davi?
24 But the Pharisees, when they heard it, said: This man does not cast out the demons, unless by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.
Mas quando os fariseus ouviam isso, diziam: Ele não expulsa os demônios, a não ser por Belzebu, o chefe dos demônios.
25 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said to them: Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. And no city or house divided against itself shall stand.
Porém [Jesus], entendendo os pensamentos deles, disse-lhes: Todo reino dividido contra si mesmo é destruído; e toda cidade ou casa dividida contra si mesma não permanecerá.
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand?
Ora, se Satanás expulsa a Satanás, contra si mesmo está dividido; como, pois, permanecerá o seu reino?
27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? For this reason, they shall be your judges.
E se eu expulso os demônios por Belzebu, então por quem vossos filhos os expulsam? Portanto, eles mesmos serão vossos juízes.
28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has already come upon you.
Mas se eu pelo Espírito de Deus expulso os demônios, logo o Reino de Deus já chegou sobre vos.
29 Or, how can any one enter the house of the strong man and spoil his goods, unless he first bind the strong man? and then he will plunder his house.
Ou como pode alguém entrar na casa do valente, e saquear seus bens, sem primeiro amarrar ao valente? Depois disso saqueará sua casa.
30 He that is not with me, is against me; and he that gathers not with me, scatters.
Quem não é comigo é contra mim; e quem não ajunta comigo, espalha.
31 Therefore I say to you, That every sin and impious speech shad be forgiven men: but the impious speech against the Spirit shall not be forgiven men.
Por isso eu vos digo: todo pecado e blasfêmia serão perdoados aos seres humanos; mas a blasfêmia contra o Espírito não será perdoada.
32 And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in the present age, or in that which is to come. (aiōn g165)
E qualquer um que falar palavra contra o Filho do homem lhe será perdoado; mas qualquer um que falar contra o Espírito Santo, não lhe será perdoado, nem na era presente, nem na futura. (aiōn g165)
33 Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree unsound, and its fruit unsound. For by the fruit the tree is known.
Ou fazei a árvore boa, e seu fruto bom; ou fazei a árvore má, e seu fruto mau; pois pelo fruto se conhece a árvore.
34 Generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
Ninhada de víboras, como podeis vós falar boas coisas, sendo maus? Pois a boca fala do que o coração tem em abundância.
35 The good man, out of his good treasury, brings forth good things; and the evil man, out of his evil treasury, brings forth evil things.
A pessoa boa tira coisas boas do bom tesouro, e a pessoa má tira coisas más do tesouro mau.
36 But I say to you, That for every idle word which men speak, they shall give account in the day of judgment.
Eu, porém, vos digo que de toda palavra imprudente que as pessoas falarem, dela prestarão contas no dia do juízo.
37 For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.
Porque por tuas palavras serás justificado, e por tuas palavras serás condenado.
38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered and said: Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.
Então responderam-lhe uns dos escribas e dos fariseus, dizendo: Mestre, queremos ver de ti algum sinal.
39 But he answered and said to them: A wicked and adulterous generation seeks for a sign; and no sign shall be given to it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
Mas ele lhes deu a seguinte resposta: Uma geração má e adúltera pede sinal; mas não lhe será dado, exceto o sinal do profeta Jonas.
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Porque assim como Jonas esteve três dias e três noites no ventre da baleia, assim também o Filho do homem estará três dias e três noites no coração da terra.
41 Tho men of Nineveh shall rise in the judgment with this generation, and condemn it; for they repented in accordance with the preaching of Jonah; and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.
Os de Nínive se levantarão no Juízo com esta geração, e a condenarão; porque se arrependeram com a pregação de Jonas. E eis aqui quem é maior que Jonas.
42 The queen of the south shall rise in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it; for she came from the most distant parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.
A rainha do sul se levantará no Juízo com esta geração, e a condenará; porque veio dos confins da terra para ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão. E eis aqui quem é maior que Salomão.
43 When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he goes through dry places seeking rest, and finds none.
Quando o espírito imundo sai de alguém, anda por lugares secos buscando repouso, e não o acha.
44 Then he says: I will return to my house, out of which I came. And he comes and finds it empty, swept, and set in order.
Então diz: ‘Voltarei para a minha casa, de onde saí.’ E quando chega, a encontra desocupada, varrida, e arrumada.
45 Then he goes and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in and dwell there. And the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it be with this wicked generation.
Então vai, e toma consigo outros sete espíritos piores que ele; eles entram, e moram ali; e a última [condição] de tal pessoa se torna pior que a primeira. Assim também acontecerá com esta geração má.
46 While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood without, desiring to speak to him.
Enquanto ele ainda estava falando às multidões, eis que sua mãe e seus irmãos estavam fora, querendo falar com ele.
47 And some one said to him: Behold, your mother and your brothers stand without, desiring to speak to you.
E alguém lhe disse: Eis que tua mãe e teus irmãos estão fora, querendo falar contigo.
48 But he answered and said to him that told him: Who is my mother? and who are my brothers?
Porém ele disse em resposta ao que o avisou: Quem é minha mãe? E quem são meus irmãos?
49 And he stretched out his hand toward his disciples, and said: Behold my mother and my brothers.
Então estendeu sua mão para os seus discípulos, e disse: Eis aqui minha mãe e meus irmãos;
50 For whoever will do the will of my Father who is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Pois qualquer um que fizer a vontade do meu Pai, que está nos céus, esse é meu irmão, e irmã, e mãe.
