Ephesians 6
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Děti, poslouchejte své rodiče. Tak to má u křesťanů být, to se líbí Bohu.
2 Honor your father and your mother, which is the first commandment with a promise,
„Važ si svého otce a své matky.“To je první z Desatera přikázání, které slibuje odměnu:
3 that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.
„…aby se ti dobře vedlo a abys dlouho žil na zemi.“
4 And you fathers, do not provoke your children to anger: but bring them up in the instruction and discipline of the Lord.
A vy, rodiče, veďte své děti v kázni, ale nedrážděte je k zlosti a užívejte ve výchově takových prostředků, které schvaluje Pán, hlavně dobrých podnětů a rad.
5 Servants, be subject to your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the simplicity of your heart, as to the Christ;
Vy, podřízení, poslouchejte své představené uctivě a svěřené úkoly plňte s upřímným přesvědčením a ochotně, jako by vám je ukládal Kristus.
6 not with eye-service, as pleasing men, but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the soul;
Ne tedy jen když jste na očích, ale i když vás nikdo nekontroluje.
7 with good will doing service as to the Lord, and not as to men;
8 knowing that whatever good any one does, the same shall he receive from the Lord, whether he is a servant or a freeman.
Pamatujte: za vykonané dobro dostane od Pána každý svou odměnu, ať poslouchal nebo poroučel.
9 And you masters, do the same things to them, leaving off threatening, knowing that you yourselves have a master in heaven, and there is no respect of persons with him.
Tak i vy, nadřízení, zacházejte se svými podřízenými ve stejném duchu. Nestrašte je výhružkami. Mějte na paměti, že i nad vámi je kdosi, kdo vás bude volat k zodpovědnosti, Petra jako Pavla.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in his mighty power.
A ještě toto: silní budete jen ve spojení s Kristem – pak bude jeho veliká moc i ve vás.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the wiles of the devil:
Ozbrojte se až po zuby Boží výzbrojí, abyste mohli čelit ďáblovým nástrahám.
12 for our conflict is not with flesh and blood, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the rulers of the darkness of this world, with the wicked spirits in the heavenly regions. (aiōn g165)
Vždyť boj není namířen proti lidem, nýbrž proti silám neviditelné duchovní říše, proti mocnostem zla a tmy, které ovládají vztahy mezi lidmi a národy. (aiōn g165)
13 Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand them in the evil day, and having overcome them all, to stand firm.
Ať tedy ve vaší výzbroji nechybí nic z Božího arzenálu – jen tak odoláte útoku nepřítele, až udeří.
14 Stand, therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and wearing the breastplate of righteousness,
Pásem, na němž visí váš meč, ať je pravda a vaším brněním bezúhonný život.
15 and having your feet shod with that preparation for defense supplied by the gospel of peace;
Zavažte si boty a buďte připraveni vykročit s radostnou zprávou o Božím pokoji.
16 taking up, over all, the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one:
Vírou jako štítem odrážejte střely ďáblovy.
17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Přilbou ať je vám jistota konečného vítězství. Jedinou zbraň máte k útoku, a to je meč Božího slova.
18 praying with all prayer and supplication, at all times, in the Spirit; and to this end being watchful in all perseverance, and supplication for all the saints:
Ptáte se, jak to všechno získáte? Je jenom jedna cesta: Modlete se dnes a denně, Duch Boží je připraven vám pomáhat. Modlete se za křesťany všude na světě a také za mne se přimlouvejte,
19 and for me, that speech may be given me, in opening my mouth with boldness, that I may make known the mystery of the gospel,
abych vždy dostal od Boha pravé slovo a abych mohl beze strachu hlásat pravdu o Kristu, pro kterou jsem teď právě v okovech.
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Modlete se, abych i tady ve vězení mohl statečně splnit své poslání.
21 But that you, also, may know my affairs, how I do, Tychicus, my beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make known all things to you;
Bratr Tychikus vám o mně poví všechno ostatní. Je to můj milovaný a věrný pomocník v Božím díle.
22 him I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our affairs, and that he may comfort your hearts.
Proto jsem poslal právě jeho, aby vám o nás podal zprávu a tak vás povzbudil.
23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Kéž vám, drazí, Bůh Otec i Ježíš Kristus, náš Pán, dá svůj pokoj, lásku a víru, kéž dá svou milost všem, kdo Ježíše Krista z celého srdce milují. Váš Pavel
