Acts 18
1 After these things, Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
μετα δε ταυτα χωρισθεισ ο παυλοσ εκ των αθηνων ηλθεν εισ κορινθον
2 and finding a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had lately come from Italy, with Priscilla his wife, because Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome, he went to them;
και ευρων τινα ιουδαιον ονοματι ακυλαν ποντικον τω γενει προσφατωσ εληλυθοτα απο τησ ιταλιασ και πρισκιλλαν γυναικα αυτου δια το τεταχεναι κλαυδιον χωριζεσθαι παντασ τουσ ιουδαιουσ εκ τησ ρωμησ προσηλθεν αυτοισ
3 and because he was of the same trade, he made his home with them, and worked: for by trade they were tent-makers.
και δια το ομοτεχνον ειναι εμενεν παρ αυτοισ και ειργαζετο ησαν γαρ σκηνοποιοι την τεχνην
4 But on every sabbath, he reasoned in the synagogue, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
διελεγετο δε εν τη συναγωγη κατα παν σαββατον επειθεν τε ιουδαιουσ και ελληνασ
5 And when Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, Paul was roused in spirit, and earnestly testified to the Jews, that the Christ was Jesus.
ωσ δε κατηλθον απο τησ μακεδονιασ ο τε σιλασ και ο τιμοθεοσ συνειχετο τω πνευματι ο παυλοσ διαμαρτυρομενοσ τοισ ιουδαιοισ τον χριστον ιησουν
6 But when they set themselves in opposition, and reviled, he shook his clothing, and said to them: Your blood be upon your own head; I am clean. Henceforth I will go to the Gentiles.
αντιτασσομενων δε αυτων και βλασφημουντων εκτιναξαμενοσ τα ιματια ειπεν προσ αυτουσ το αιμα υμων επι την κεφαλην υμων καθαροσ εγω απο του νυν εισ τα εθνη πορευσομαι
7 And he departed thence, and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, who worshiped God, and whose house joined the synagogue.
και μεταβασ εκειθεν ηλθεν εισ οικιαν τινοσ ονοματι ιουστου σεβομενου τον θεον ου η οικια ην συνομορουσα τη συναγωγη
8 But Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord, with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing, believed, and were immersed.
κρισποσ δε ο αρχισυναγωγοσ επιστευσεν τω κυριω συν ολω τω οικω αυτου και πολλοι των κορινθιων ακουοντεσ επιστευον και εβαπτιζοντο
9 And the Lord spoke to Paul by a vision in the night: Fear not; but speak, and be not silent;
ειπεν δε ο κυριοσ δι οραματοσ εν νυκτι τω παυλω μη φοβου αλλα λαλει και μη σιωπησησ
10 for I am with you, and no one shall make an assault upon you, to injure you; for I have many people in this city.
διοτι εγω ειμι μετα σου και ουδεισ επιθησεται σοι του κακωσαι σε διοτι λαοσ εστιν μοι πολυσ εν τη πολει ταυτη
11 And he remained there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them
εκαθισεν τε ενιαυτον και μηνασ εξ διδασκων εν αυτοισ τον λογον του θεου
12 But while Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews, with one mind, suddenly came upon Paul, and brought him to the judgment-seat,
γαλλιωνοσ δε ανθυπατευοντοσ τησ αχαιασ κατεπεστησαν ομοθυμαδον οι ιουδαιοι τω παυλω και ηγαγον αυτον επι το βημα
13 saying: This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.
λεγοντεσ οτι παρα τον νομον ουτοσ αναπειθει τουσ ανθρωπουσ σεβεσθαι τον θεον
14 But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews: If it were a matter of injustice, or of wicked mischief, O Jews, I would, with reason, bear with you:
μελλοντοσ δε του παυλου ανοιγειν το στομα ειπεν ο γαλλιων προσ τουσ ιουδαιουσ ει μεν ουν ην αδικημα τι η ραδιουργημα πονηρον ω ιουδαιοι κατα λογον αν ηνεσχομην υμων
15 but if it is a question about a word, and names, and your law, see to it yourselves: for I will not be a judge of these tilings.
ει δε ζητημα εστιν περι λογου και ονοματων και νομου του καθ υμασ οψεσθε αυτοι κριτησ γαρ εγω τουτων ου βουλομαι ειναι
16 And he drove them from the judgment-seat.
και απηλασεν αυτουσ απο του βηματοσ
17 And all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment-seat. And Gallio cared for none of these things.
επιλαβομενοι δε παντεσ οι ελληνεσ σωσθενην τον αρχισυναγωγον ετυπτον εμπροσθεν του βηματοσ και ουδεν τουτων τω γαλλιωνι εμελλεν
18 And Paul, having remained many days longer, took leave of the brethren, and sailed to Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila, having shorn his head in Cenchrea; for he had a vow.
ο δε παυλοσ ετι προσμεινασ ημερασ ικανασ τοισ αδελφοισ αποταξαμενοσ εξεπλει εισ την συριαν και συν αυτω πρισκιλλα και ακυλασ κειραμενοσ την κεφαλην εν κεγχρεαισ ειχεν γαρ ευχην
19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there; but he himself went into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
κατηντησεν δε εισ εφεσον και εκεινουσ κατελιπεν αυτου αυτοσ δε εισελθων εισ την συναγωγην διελεχθη τοισ ιουδαιοισ
20 And though they besought him to remain with them a longer time, he did not consent,
ερωτωντων δε αυτων επι πλειονα χρονον μειναι παρ αυτοισ ουκ επενευσεν
21 but took leave of them, saying: I must, by all means, keep this coming feast in Jerusalem: but I will return to you, if God be willing. And he sailed from Ephesus,
αλλ απεταξατο αυτοισ ειπων δει με παντωσ την εορτην την ερχομενην ποιησαι εισ ιεροσολυμα παλιν δε ανακαμψω προσ υμασ του θεου θελοντοσ ανηχθη απο τησ εφεσου
22 and having landed at Cæsarea, and gone up and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.
και κατελθων εισ καισαρειαν αναβασ και ασπασαμενοσ την εκκλησιαν κατεβη εισ αντιοχειαν
23 And having spent some time there, he departed, and went through the region of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
και ποιησασ χρονον τινα εξηλθεν διερχομενοσ καθεξησ την γαλατικην χωραν και φρυγιαν επιστηριζων παντασ τουσ μαθητασ
24 And a certain Jew, named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.
ιουδαιοσ δε τισ απολλωσ ονοματι αλεξανδρευσ τω γενει ανηρ λογιοσ κατηντησεν εισ εφεσον δυνατοσ ων εν ταισ γραφαισ
25 He was instructed in the way of the Lord; and, being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, knowing only the immersion of John.
ουτοσ ην κατηχημενοσ την οδον του κυριου και ζεων τω πνευματι ελαλει και εδιδασκεν ακριβωσ τα περι του κυριου επισταμενοσ μονον το βαπτισμα ιωαννου
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him, and taught him the way of God more accurately.
ουτοσ τε ηρξατο παρρησιαζεσθαι εν τη συναγωγη ακουσαντεσ δε αυτου ακυλασ και πρισκιλλα προσελαβοντο αυτον και ακριβεστερον αυτω εξεθεντο την του θεου οδον
27 And when he wished to pass into Achaia, the brethren, exhorting him, wrote to the disciples to receive him. And when he had come, he gave much help to the believers, through the grace conferred on him.
βουλομενου δε αυτου διελθειν εισ την αχαιαν προτρεψαμενοι οι αδελφοι εγραψαν τοισ μαθηταισ αποδεξασθαι αυτον οσ παραγενομενοσ συνεβαλετο πολυ τοισ πεπιστευκοσιν δια τησ χαριτοσ
28 For, with great strength, he utterly confounded the Jews publicly, showing, by the Scriptures, that the Christ was Jesus.
ευτονωσ γαρ τοισ ιουδαιοισ διακατηλεγχετο δημοσια επιδεικνυσ δια των γραφων ειναι τον χριστον ιησουν
