Acts 1
1 The former record I made, O Theophilus, of all things that Jesus began both to do and to teach,
౧తియొఫిలా, యేసు తాను ఏర్పరచుకున్న అపొస్తలులకు పరిశుద్ధాత్మ ద్వారా ఆజ్ఞాపించిన తరువాత
2 till the day on which he was taken up, after he had, through the Holy Spirit, given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen.
౨ఆయన పరలోకానికి ఆరోహణమైన రోజు వరకూ ఆయన చేసిన, బోధించిన వాటన్నిటిని గూర్చి నా మొదటి గ్రంథాన్ని రచించాను.
3 To whom, after he had suffered, he also showed himself alive, by many indubitable proofs; appearing to them for forty days, and speaking of the things that pertain to the kingdom of God.
౩ఆయన హింసలు పొందిన తరువాత నలభై రోజులపాటు వారికి కనబడుతూ, దేవుని రాజ్య విషయాలను బోధిస్తూ, అనేక రుజువులను చూపించి వారికి తనను తాను సజీవునిగా కనపరచుకున్నాడు.
4 And calling them together, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of my Father, which, said he, you have heard from me;
౪ఆయన వారిని కలుసుకుని ఈ విధంగా ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు, “మీరు యెరూషలేమును విడిచి పోవద్దు. నా ద్వారా విన్న తండ్రి వాగ్దానం కోసం కనిపెట్టండి.
5 for John indeed immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit, not many days hence.
౫యోహాను నీళ్లతో బాప్తిసం ఇచ్చాడు గానీ కొద్ది రోజుల్లో మీరు పరిశుద్ధాత్మలో బాప్తిసం పొందుతారు.”
6 Therefore, when they came together, they asked him, saying: Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?
౬వారు సమకూడినప్పుడు, “ప్రభూ, ఇప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజ్యాన్ని పునరుద్ధరిస్తావా?” అని శిష్యులు అడగగా ఆయన,
7 But he said to them: It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has reserved under his own control.
౭“కాలాలూ సమయాలూ తండ్రి తన స్వాధీనంలో ఉంచుకున్నాడు. వాటిని తెలుసుకోవడం మీ పని కాదు.
8 But you shall receive power, after the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses for me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the most distant part of the earth.
౮“అయితే పరిశుద్ధాత్మ మీ మీదికి వచ్చినప్పుడు మీరు శక్తి పొందుతారు. కాబట్టి, మీరు యెరూషలేములో, యూదయ సమరయ దేశాల్లో, ప్రపంచమంతటా నాకు సాక్షులుగా ఉంటారు” అన్నాడు.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they were looking on him, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
౯ఈ మాటలు చెప్పి, వారు చూస్తూ ఉండగా ఆయన ఆరోహణమయ్యాడు. అప్పుడు ఒక మేఘం వచ్చి వారికి కనబడకుండా ఆయనను తీసుకు వెళ్ళిపోయింది.
10 And while they were looking earnestly toward heaven, as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white raiment,
౧౦ఆయన వెళుతూ ఉండగా వారు ఆకాశం వైపు అదే పనిగా చూస్తున్నారు. అప్పుడు తెల్లని బట్టలు ధరించిన ఇద్దరు వ్యక్తులు వారి దగ్గర నిలబడి,
11 who also said: Men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, shall come in the same manner in which you saw him go into heaven.
౧౧“గలిలయ నివాసులారా, మీరెందుకు ఆకాశం వైపు చూస్తున్నారు? మీ దగ్గర్నుండి పరలోకానికి ఆరోహణమైన ఈ యేసు ఏ విధంగా పరలోకానికి వెళ్ళడం మీరు చూశారో ఆ విధంగానే తిరిగి వస్తాడు” అని వారితో చెప్పారు.
12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath-day’s journey.
౧౨అప్పుడు వారు ఒలీవ కొండ నుండి యెరూషలేముకు తిరిగి వెళ్ళారు. ఆ కొండ యెరూషలేముకు విశ్రాంతి దినాన నడవదగినంత దూరంలో ఉంది.
13 And when they had come in, they went up into an upper room, in which dwelt Peter and James, and John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphæus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
౧౩వారు పట్టణంలో ప్రవేశించి, తాము బస చేస్తున్న మేడగదిలోకి వెళ్ళారు. వారెవరంటే, పేతురు, యోహాను, యాకోబు, అంద్రెయ, ఫిలిప్పు, తోమా, బర్తొలొమయి, మత్తయి, అల్ఫయి కుమారుడు యాకోబు, ఉద్యమ కారుడైన సీమోను, యాకోబు కుమారుడు యూదా.
14 All these, with one mind, continued in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
౧౪వీరూ, వీరితో కూడా కొందరు స్త్రీలూ, యేసు తల్లి మరియ, ఆయన తమ్ముళ్ళూ ఏకగ్రీవంగా, నిలకడగా ప్రార్థన చేస్తూ ఉన్నారు.
15 And in those days Peter arose in the midst of the disciples, (the number of the names together was about a hundred and twenty, ) and said:
౧౫ఆ రోజుల్లో సుమారు నూట ఇరవై మంది శిష్యులు సమావేశమై ఉన్నపుడు పేతురు వారి మధ్య నిలబడి,
16 Brethren, it was necessary for this scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit had before spoken by the mouth of David, concerning Judas, who was a guide to those who took Jesus:
౧౬“సోదరులారా, యేసును పట్టుకున్నవారికి దారి చూపిన యూదాను గూర్చి పరిశుద్ధాత్మ దావీదు ద్వారా పూర్వం పలికిన లేఖనం నెరవేరవలసి ఉంది.
17 for he was numbered with us, and had been appointed to this ministry.
౧౭ఇతడు మనలో ఒకడుగా లెక్కలోకి వచ్చి ఈ పరిచర్యలో భాగం పొందాడు.
18 Therefore he purchased a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
౧౮ఈ యూదా ద్రోహం వలన సంపాదించిన డబ్బుతో ఒక పొలం కొన్నాడు. అతడు తలకిందులుగా పడి శరీరం బద్దలై పేగులన్నీ బయటికి వచ్చాయి.
19 And it was known to all that dwelt in Jerusalem, so that the field is called, in their own language, Akeldama, that is, The field of blood.
౧౯ఈ విషయం యెరూషలేములో నివసిస్తున్న వారందరికీ తెలిసింది. కాబట్టి వారి భాషలో ఆ పొలాన్ని ‘అకెల్దమ’ అంటున్నారు. దాని అర్థం ‘రక్త భూమి.’ ఇందుకు రుజువుగా,
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no one dwell in it, and, His office let another take.
౨౦‘అతని ఇల్లు పాడైపోవు గాక, దానిలో ఎవ్వడూ కాపురముండకపోవు గాక, అతని ఉద్యోగం వేరొకడు తీసికొనును గాక,’ అని కీర్తనల గ్రంథంలో రాసి ఉంది.
21 Therefore, of these men who have associated with us during the whole time in which the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
౨౧“కాబట్టి యోహాను బాప్తిసమిచ్చింది మొదలు ప్రభువైన యేసు మన దగ్గర నుండి పరలోకానికి వెళ్ళిన రోజు వరకూ,
22 beginning from the immersion of John till the day on which he was taken up from us, must one be appointed as a witness with us of his resurrection.
౨౨ఆయన మన మధ్య ఉన్న కాలమంతా మనతో కలిసి ఉన్న వీరిలో ఒకడు, మనతో కూడ ఆయన పునరుత్థానం గురించి సాక్షిగా ఉండాలి” అని చెప్పాడు.
23 And they set apart two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias;
౨౩అప్పుడు వారు యూస్తు, బర్సబ్బా అనే మారు పేర్లున్న యోసేపునూ, మత్తీయనూ నిలబెట్టి,
24 and praying, they said: Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all, make known which of these two thou hast chosen,
౨౪ఈ విధంగా ప్రార్థించారు. “అందరి హృదయాలను ఎరిగిన ప్రభూ,
25 that he may be appointed to this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
౨౫తన చోటికి వెళ్ళడానికి యూదా దారి తప్పి పోగొట్టుకొన్న ఈ పరిచర్యలో, అపొస్తలత్వంలో పాలు పొందడానికి వీరిద్దరిలో నీవు ఏర్పరచుకొన్న వాణ్ణి చూపించు.”
26 And they gave in their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias: and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
౨౬తరువాత శిష్యులు వారిద్దరి మీదా చీట్లు వేస్తే మత్తీయ పేరుతో చీటి వచ్చింది కాబట్టి అతనిని పదకొండుమంది అపొస్తలులతో కలిపి లెక్కించారు.
