< 1 Corinthians 12 >
1 But concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant.
he bhrAtaraH, yUyaM yad AtmikAn dAyAn anavagatAstiSThatha tadahaM nAbhilaSAmi|
2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to those dumb idols, as you might be led.
pUrvvaM bhinnajAtIyA yUyaM yadvad vinItAstadvad avAkpratimAnAm anugAmina Adhbam iti jAnItha|
3 For this reason, I make known to you, that no one, speaking by the Spirit of God, calls Jesus accursed: and no one can say that Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.
iti hetorahaM yuSmabhyaM nivedayAmi, IzvarasyAtmanA bhASamANaH ko'pi yIzuM zapta iti na vyAharati, punazca pavitreNAtmanA vinItaM vinAnyaH ko'pi yIzuM prabhuriti vyAharttuM na zaknoti|
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit;
dAyA bahuvidhAH kintveka AtmA
5 and there are diversities of ministries, but the same Lord;
paricaryyAzca bahuvidhAH kintvekaH prabhuH|
6 and there are diversities of operations, but the same God, who makes them all effectual in all.
sAdhanAni bahuvidhAni kintu sarvveSu sarvvasAdhaka Izvara ekaH|
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one, for the good of all.
ekaikasmai tasyAtmano darzanaM parahitArthaM dIyate|
8 For to one is given, by the Spirit, the word of wisdom; to another, the word of knowledge, by the same Spirit;
ekasmai tenAtmanA jJAnavAkyaM dIyate, anyasmai tenaivAtmanAdiSTaM vidyAvAkyam,
9 to another, faith, by the same Spirit; to another, gifts of healing, by the same Spirit;
anyasmai tenaivAtmanA vizvAsaH, anyasmai tenaivAtmanA svAsthyadAnazaktiH,
10 to another, the working of mighty deeds; to another, prophecy; to another, the discerning of spirits; to another, different kinds of tongues; to another, the interpretation of tongues.
anyasmai duHsAdhyasAdhanazaktiranyasmai cezvarIyAdezaH, anyasmai cAtimAnuSikasyAdezasya vicArasAmarthyam, anyasmai parabhASAbhASaNazaktiranyasmai ca bhASArthabhASaNasAmaryaM dIyate|
11 But all these, the one and the same Spirit makes effectual, distributing to each, respectively, as he wills.
ekenAdvitIyenAtmanA yathAbhilASam ekaikasmai janAyaikaikaM dAnaM vitaratA tAni sarvvANi sAdhyante|
12 For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ.
deha ekaH sannapi yadvad bahvaGgayukto bhavati, tasyaikasya vapuSo 'GgAnAM bahutvena yadvad ekaM vapu rbhavati, tadvat khrISTaH|
13 For by one Spirit we all were immersed into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and we all have been made to drink of one Spirit.
yato heto ryihUdibhinnajAtIyadAsasvatantrA vayaM sarvve majjanenaikenAtmanaikadehIkRtAH sarvve caikAtmabhuktA abhavAma|
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
ekenAGgena vapu rna bhavati kintu bahubhiH|
15 If the foot shall say: Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body, is it, for this reason, no part of the body?
tatra caraNaM yadi vadet nAhaM hastastasmAt zarIrasya bhAgo nAsmIti tarhyanena zarIrAt tasya viyogo na bhavati|
16 And if the ear shall say: Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body, is it, for this reason, no part of the body?
zrotraM vA yadi vadet nAhaM nayanaM tasmAt zarIrasyAMzo nAsmIti tarhyanena zarIrAt tasya viyogo na bhavati|
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
kRtsnaM zarIraM yadi darzanendriyaM bhavet tarhi zravaNendriyaM kutra sthAsyati? tat kRtsnaM yadi vA zravaNendriyaM bhavet tarhi ghraNendriyaM kutra sthAsyati?
18 But now God has placed the members, each of them, in the body, as it has pleased him.
kintvidAnIm IzvareNa yathAbhilaSitaM tathaivAGgapratyaGgAnAm ekaikaM zarIre sthApitaM|
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
tat kRtsnaM yadyekAGgarUpi bhavet tarhi zarIre kutra sthAsyati?
20 But now there are many members, but one body.
tasmAd aGgAni bahUni santi zarIraM tvekameva|
21 The eye can not say to the hand: I have no need of you; or again, the head to the feet: I have no need of you.
ataeva tvayA mama prayojanaM nAstIti vAcaM pANiM vadituM nayanaM na zaknoti, tathA yuvAbhyAM mama prayojanaM nAstIti mUrddhA caraNau vadituM na zaknotiH;
22 But much more are those members of the body necessary, which seem to be more feeble.
vastutastu vigrahasya yAnyaGgAnyasmAbhi rdurbbalAni budhyante tAnyeva saprayojanAni santi|
23 And those members of the body, which, we think, are less honorable, around these we place the more abundant honor; and our uncomely members have the more abundant comeliness:
yAni ca zarIramadhye'vamanyAni budhyate tAnyasmAbhiradhikaM zobhyante| yAni ca kudRzyAni tAni sudRzyatarANi kriyante
24 for our comely members have no need. But God has so arranged the body, giving more abundant honor to that part which is deficient,
kintu yAni svayaM sudRzyAni teSAM zobhanam niSprayojanaM|
25 that there may be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same anxious care, one for another;
zarIramadhye yad bhedo na bhavet kintu sarvvANyaGgAni yad aikyabhAvena sarvveSAM hitaM cintayanti tadartham IzvareNApradhAnam AdaraNIyaM kRtvA zarIraM viracitaM|
26 and if one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
tasmAd ekasyAGgasya pIDAyAM jAtAyAM sarvvANyaGgAni tena saha pIDyante, ekasya samAdare jAte ca sarvvANi tena saha saMhRSyanti|
27 Now, you are the body of Christ, and, as individuals, you are members.
yUyaJca khrISTasya zarIraM, yuSmAkam ekaikazca tasyaikaikam aGgaM|
28 And God has placed some in the church, first, apostles; secondly, prophets; thirdly, teachers; then mighty deeds; then gifts of healing; helps, governments, kinds of tongues.
kecit kecit samitAvIzvareNa prathamataH preritA dvitIyata IzvarIyAdezavaktArastRtIyata upadeSTAro niyuktAH, tataH paraM kebhyo'pi citrakAryyasAdhanasAmarthyam anAmayakaraNazaktirupakRtau lokazAsane vA naipuNyaM nAnAbhASAbhASaNasAmarthyaM vA tena vyatAri|
29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of mighty deeds?
sarvve kiM preritAH? sarvve kim IzvarIyAdezavaktAraH? sarvve kim upadeSTAraH? sarvve kiM citrakAryyasAdhakAH?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
sarvve kim anAmayakaraNazaktiyuktAH? sarvve kiM parabhASAvAdinaH? sarvve vA kiM parabhASArthaprakAzakAH?
31 But seek earnestly the best gifts; and yet I show you a more excellent way.
yUyaM zreSThadAyAn labdhuM yatadhvaM| anena yUyaM mayA sarvvottamamArgaM darzayitavyAH|
