1 Corinthians 11
1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
Sed imitadores de mí, como yo también lo soy de Cristo.
2 Now, I praise you, brethren, because you remember me in all things, and keep the traditions as I delivered them to you.
Ahora bien, os alabo, hermanos, porque os acordáis de mí en todo y mantenéis firmes las tradiciones, tal como os las entregué.
3 But I wish you to know, that the head of every man is the Christ, and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Pero quiero que sepáis que la cabeza de todo hombre es Cristo, y la cabeza de la mujer es el hombre, y la cabeza de Cristo es Dios.
4 Every man that prays or prophesies, having his head covered, dishonors his head.
Todo hombre que ora o profetiza con la cabeza cubierta, deshonra su cabeza.
5 But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered, dishonors her head: for it is one and the same as if she was shaved.
Pero toda mujer que ora o profetiza con la cabeza descubierta, deshonra su cabeza. Porque es lo mismo que si se afeitara.
6 For if a woman has no vail on, let her also be shaved. But if it is a shame to a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her have a vail.
Porque si la mujer no se cubre, que se le corte también el cabello. Pero si es vergonzoso que la mujer se corte el pelo o se afeite, que se cubra.
7 For a man ought not to vail his head, because he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of the man.
Porque el hombre no debe cubrirse la cabeza, porque es imagen y gloria de Dios, pero la mujer es la gloria del hombre.
8 For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man:
Porque el hombre no procede de la mujer, sino la mujer del hombre;
9 for the man was not created for the woman, but the woman for the man.
pues el hombre no fue creado para la mujer, sino la mujer para el hombre.
10 For this reason ought the woman to have a token of subjection on her head, on account of the angels.
Por eso la mujer debe tener autoridad sobre su propia cabeza, a causa de los ángeles.
11 But neither is the woman without the man, nor the: man without the woman, in the Lord.
Sin embargo, ni la mujer es independiente del hombre, ni el hombre es independiente de la mujer, en el Señor.
12 For as the woman is of the man, so also is the man by the woman; but all things are of God.
Porque así como la mujer procede del hombre, también el hombre procede de la mujer; pero todo procede de Dios.
13 Judge in yourselves, whether it is becoming that a woman pray to God unvailed.
Juzguen ustedes mismos. ¿Es apropiado que una mujer ore a Dios sin velo?
14 Does not nature itself teach you, that, if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?
¿Acaso no os enseña la misma naturaleza que si un hombre tiene el pelo largo, es una deshonra para él?
15 But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a vail.
Pero si una mujer tiene el cabello largo, es una gloria para ella, pues su cabello le es dado para cubrirse.
16 But if any one seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor have the churches of God.
Pero si alguno parece ser pendenciero, no tenemos esa costumbre, ni tampoco las asambleas de Dios.
17 But I praise you not in this, which I now mention, that you come together, not for the better, but for the worse.
Pero al daros esta orden no os alabo, porque os reunís no para lo mejor, sino para lo peor.
18 For, in the first place, when you come together in the church, I hear that there are schisms among you, and I partly believe it:
Porque, en primer lugar, cuando os reunís en la asamblea, oigo que existen divisiones entre vosotros, y en parte lo creo.
19 for there must be sects among you, that the approved may be made known among you.
Porque también es necesario que haya divisiones entre vosotros, para que se manifiesten entre vosotros los que son aprobados.
20 When, therefore, you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s supper;
Por tanto, cuando os reunís, no es la cena del Señor lo que coméis.
21 for each one, in eating, takes before another, his own supper; and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
Porque en vuestra comida cada uno toma primero su propia cena. Uno tiene hambre, y otro está borracho.
22 What, have you not houses in which to eat and drink? or do you despise the church of God, and put those to shame who have nothing to eat? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
¿Acaso no tenéis casas donde comer y beber? ¿O acaso despreciáis la asamblea de Dios y avergonzáis a los que no tienen suficiente? ¿Qué debo decirles? ¿Debo alabarte? En esto no te alabo.
23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: That the Lord Jesus, on the night in which he was delivered up, took bread;
Porque he recibido del Señor lo que también os he transmitido: que el Señor Jesús, la noche en que fue entregado, tomó pan.
24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said: Take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of me.
Después de dar gracias, lo partió y dijo: “Tomad, comed. Esto es mi cuerpo, que es partido por vosotros. Haced esto en memoria mía”.
25 In like manner also, the cup, after he had supped, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood: do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.
De la misma manera tomó también la copa después de la cena, diciendo: “Esta copa es la nueva alianza en mi sangre. Haced esto, cuantas veces que bebáis, en memoria mía”.
26 For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you do show the Lord’s death till he come.
Porque todas las veces que comáis este pan y bebáis esta copa, proclamaréis la muerte del Señor hasta que venga.
27 Wherefore he that eats this bread, or drinks this cup of the Lord, in an improper manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
Por tanto, quien coma este pan o beba la copa del Señor de manera indigna, será culpable del cuerpo y de la sangre del Señor.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of this bread, and drink of this cup:
Pero que el hombre se examine a sí mismo, y así coma del pan y beba de la copa.
29 for he that eats and drinks in an improper manner, eats and drinks condemnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
Porque el que come y bebe de manera indigna, come y bebe juicio para sí mismo, si no discierne el cuerpo del Señor.
30 For this reason, many among you are weak and sick, and many sleep.
Por eso muchos de vosotros están débiles y enfermos, y no pocos duermen.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged;
Porque si nos discernimos a nosotros mismos, no seríamos juzgados.
32 but being judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
Pero cuando somos juzgados, somos disciplinados por el Señor, para que no seamos condenados con el mundo.
33 Wherefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another:
Por tanto, hermanos míos, cuando os reunáis para comer, esperaos unos a otros.
34 and if any one is hungry, let him eat at home, that you come not together for condemnation. But other things I will set in order when I come.
Pero si alguno tiene hambre, que coma en su casa, para que vuestra reunión no sea para ser juzgada. Lo demás lo pondré en orden cuando venga.
