1 Corinthians 10
1 Now, brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and that all passed through the sea,
Și nu vreau să nu știți, fraților, că părinții noștri au fost cu toții sub nor și au trecut cu toții prin mare,
2 and were all immersed into Moses, in the cloud and in the sea;
și că toți au fost botezați în Moise în nor și în mare,
3 and did all eat the same spiritual food,
și că toți au mâncat aceeași mâncare duhovnicească,
4 and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was the Christ.
și că toți au băut aceeași băutură duhovnicească. Căci ei au băut dintr-o stâncă spirituală care i-a urmat, iar stânca era Hristos.
5 But with the most of them God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Totuși, cu cei mai mulți dintre ei, Dumnezeu nu a fost mulțumit, pentru că au fost doborâți în pustiu.
6 Now these things took place as examples for us, that we should not desire evil things, as they, also, desired.
Și aceste lucruri au fost exemplele noastre, ca să nu poftim la lucruri rele, cum au poftit și ei.
7 Neither be you idolaters, as some of them were, as it is written: Tho people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to engage in idolatrous sport.
Să nu fiți idolatri, cum erau unii dintre ei. După cum este scris: “Poporul ședea să mănânce și să bea și se ridica să se joace”.
8 Nor let us be guilty of lewdness, as some of them were guilty, and fell, in one day, twenty-three thousand.
Să nu săvârșim imoralități sexuale, cum făceau unii dintre ei, și într-o singură zi au căzut douăzeci și trei de mii de oameni.
9 Nor let us tempt the Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.
Să nu-l punem la încercare pe Hristos, cum au făcut unii dintre ei și au pierit prin șerpi.
10 Nor do you murmur, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
Să nu ne cârtiți, cum au cârtit și unii dintre ei și au pierit de distrugător.
11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they are written for the instruction of us, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. (aiōn g165)
Toate aceste lucruri li s-au întâmplat lor ca exemplu și au fost scrise pentru învățătura noastră, asupra cărora au venit sfârșiturile veacurilor. (aiōn g165)
12 Wherefore, let him that thinks he stands, take heed lest he foil.
De aceea, cel care crede că stă în picioare să aibă grijă să nu cadă.
13 No trial has come upon you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tried more than you are able to bear; but he will, with the trial, make a way to escape, so that you be able to bear up under it.
Nici o ispită nu v-a prins, decât cea obișnuită pentru oameni. Credincios este Dumnezeu, care nu va îngădui să fiți ispitiți peste puterile voastre, ci, odată cu ispita, vă va da și calea de scăpare, ca s-o puteți îndura.
14 Wherefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
De aceea, iubiții mei, fugiți de idolatrie.
15 I speak as to wise men; judge you what I say.
Vorbesc ca unor oameni înțelepți. Judecați ceea ce spun.
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the participation of the blood of the Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the participation of the body of the Christ?
Paharul de binecuvântare pe care îl binecuvântăm, nu este el oare o împărtășire din sângele lui Hristos? Pâinea pe care o frângem, nu este ea o împărtășire din trupul lui Hristos?
17 Because the loaf is one, we, the many, are one body, for we are all partakers of the one loaf.
Fiindcă există o singură pâine, noi, care suntem mulți, suntem un singur trup, căci toți ne împărtășim din aceeași pâine.
18 Look at Israel according to the flesh: are not those who eat the sacrifices partakers with the altar?
Gândiți-vă la Israel după trup. Cei care mănâncă sacrificiile nu participă oare la altar?
19 What, then, do I say? That an idol is any thing? or, that what is sacrificed to an idol is any thing?
Atunci ce spun eu? Că un lucru jertfit idolilor este ceva sau că un idol este ceva?
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God. I do not wish you to be partakers with demons.
Dar eu spun că lucrurile pe care le sacrifică neamurile le sacrifică demonilor și nu lui Dumnezeu, și nu doresc ca voi să aveți părtășie cu demonii.
21 You can not drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: you can not be partakers of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.
Nu puteți bea și paharul Domnului și paharul demonilor. Nu puteți lua parte deopotrivă la masa Domnului și la masa demonilor.
22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
Sau Îl provocăm pe Domnul la gelozie? Suntem noi mai puternici decât el?
23 All meats are lawful for me; but all are not profitable; all are lawful, but all do not edify.
“Toate lucrurile îmi sunt permise, dar nu toate sunt de folos.” “Toate lucrurile îmi sunt permise”, dar nu toate zidesc.
24 Let no one seek his own, but each the welfare of the other.
Nimeni să nu-și caute binele propriu, ci fiecare să caute binele aproapelui său.
25 Any thing that is sold in the market, eat, asking no questions on account of conscience:
Tot ce se vinde în măcelărie, să mănânce, fără să pună întrebări din cauza conștiinței,
26 for the earth and its fullness are the Lord’s.
căci “al Domnului este pământul și plinătatea lui”.
27 If any one of the unbelievers invites you to a feast, and you are disposed to go, eat any thing that is set before you, asking no questions for conscience sake.
Dar dacă unul dintre cei necredincioși te invită la masă și tu ești înclinat să mergi, mănâncă tot ce ți se pune în față, fără să pui întrebări, din motive de conștiință.
28 But if any one say to you: This is sacrificed to idols; eat not, for the sake of him that pointed it out, and for conscience sake:
Dar dacă cineva vă spune: “Acest lucru a fost oferit idolilor”, nu-l mâncați, de dragul celui care v-a spus și de dragul conștiinței. Căci “pământul este al Domnului, cu toată plinătatea lui”.
29 conscience, I say, not your own, but that of the other. Why, then, is my liberty judged by the conscience of another?
Conștiința, zic, nu a ta, ci a celuilalt. Căci de ce libertatea mea este judecată de o altă conștiință?
30 If I partake with thanksgiving, why am I evil spoken of on account of that for which I give thanks?
Dacă iau parte cu recunoștință, de ce sunt denunțat pentru ceva pentru care mulțumesc?
31 Whether, therefore, you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
De aceea, fie că mâncați, fie că beți, fie că faceți orice altceva, să faceți totul spre slava lui Dumnezeu.
32 Give no occasion for stumbling, either to the Jews, or to the Greeks, or to the church of God;
Să nu dați prilej de poticnire, nici iudeilor, nici grecilor, nici adunării lui Dumnezeu;
33 even as I please all men in all things, not seeking my own good, but that of the many, in order that they may be saved.
după cum și eu mulțumesc tuturor în toate, nu caut folosul meu, ci folosul celor mulți, ca să fie mântuiți.
