1 Corinthians 1
1 Paul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, and Sosthenes my brother,

2 to the church of God which is in Corinth, to the sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all that in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
Ebandleni likaNkulunkulu eKhorinte, kulabo abangcweliswe kuJesu Khristu babizelwa ukuba ngabangcwele bakhe kanye labo bonke abasezindaweni zonke abakhuleka ebizweni leNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu, iNkosi yabo leyethu:
3 grace be to you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Umusa lokuthula okuvela kuNkulunkulu uBaba leNkosini uJesu Khristu kakube kini.
4 I thank my God always on your account, for the grace of God which is given to you in Christ Jesus;
Ngihlezi ngimbonga kokuphela uNkulunkulu wami ngani, ngenxa yomusa wakhe eliwuphiweyo kuJesu Khristu.
5 that you are enriched by him in every thing, in all speech, and in all knowledge,
Ngoba kuye linothiswe ngezindlela zonke, ekukhulumeni kwenu konke lasekwazini konke,
6 even as the testimony concerning the Christ was con firmed among you,
ngoba ubufakazi bethu ngoKhristu baqiniswa kini.
7 so that you are deficient in no gift, while waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ngakho kalisileli lakusiphi isipho somoya lapho lilindele ngokutshiseka ukuba iNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu ibonakaliswe.
8 He also will establish you even to the end, and make you blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Izaligcina liqinile kuze kube sekupheleni ukuze lingabi lasici ngosuku lweNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu.
9 God is faithful, by whom you have been called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
UNkulunkulu olibizele ekuhlanganyeleni leNdodana yakhe uJesu Khristu iNkosi yethu, uthembekile.
10 Now, I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no schisms among you, but that you be perfectly united in the same mind, and in the same judgment.
Ngiyalincenga bazalwane, ngebizo leNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu, ukuba lonke livumelane ukuze kungabi lokwehlukana phakathi kwenu kanye lokuthi libe ngabamanyeneyo engqondweni lasemcabangweni.
11 For it has been made known to me concerning you, my brethren, by the family of Cloe, that there are contentions among you.
Bazalwane bami, abanye abendlu yakoKlowe bangitshele ukuthi kulezingxabano phakathi kwenu.
12 I mean this: that each one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.
Engikutshoyo yilokhu: Omunye wenu uthi, “Mina ngilandela uPhawuli”; omunye uthi, “Mina ngilandela u-Apholo”; omunye uthi, “Mina ngilandela uKhefasi”; omunye laye uthi, “Mina ngilandela uKhristu.”
13 Is the Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were you immersed into the name of Paul?
Kambe uKhristu wehlukene na? UPhawuli wake wabethelwa ngenxa yenu na? Labhaphathizwa ngebizo likaPhawuli na?
14 I thank God that I immersed none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
Ngibonga uNkulunkulu ngokuthi kangibhaphathizanga lamunye wenu ngaphandle kukaKhrispasi loGayiyasi,
15 that no one may say that I immersed into my own name.
ngakho kakho ongathi labhaphathizwa ngebizo lami.
16 I did, indeed, immerse the household of Stephanus; besides, I know not whether I immersed any other.
(Yebo ngabhaphathiza abendlu KaStefane, ngaphandle kwalokho angikhumbuli ngibhaphathiza omunye.)
17 For Christ sent me not to immerse, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of speech, lest the cross of the Christ should be deprived of its power.
Ngoba uKhristu kangithumanga ukuba ngibhaphathize kodwa ukuba ngitshumayele ivangeli, hatshi ngamazwi enhlakanipho yabantu, funa isiphambano silahlekelwe ngamandla aso.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to those who perish, foolishness; but to us who are saved, it is the power of God.
Ngoba ilizwi lesiphambano liyibuthutha kulabo ababhubhayo, kodwa kithi abasindisiweyo lingamandla kaNkulunkulu.
19 For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; and I will set aside the understanding of the prudent.
Ngoba kulotshiwe ukuthi: “Ngizachitha inhlakanipho yabahlakaniphileyo; ukwazi kwezazi ngizakunqunda.”
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn g165)
Ungaphi umuntu ohlakaniphileyo na? Singaphi isifundiswa somthetho na? Singaphi isazi salesisikhathi na? UNkulunkulu kenzanga ukuhlakanipha kwasemhlabeni kwaba yibuthutha na? (aiōn g165)
21 For, since in the wisdom of God, the world, by its wisdom, knew not God, it has pleased God, through the foolishness of what is preached, to save those who believe.
Ngoba ekuhlakanipheni kukaNkulunkulu, umhlaba ngokuhlakanipha kwawo kawumazanga, uNkulunkulu wathokoza ngobuthutha balokho okwatshunyayelwayo ukuze kusindise abakholwayo
22 For the Jews ask for a sign, and the Greeks seek for wisdom;
AmaJuda afuna izibonakaliso lezimangaliso lamaGrikhi adinga ukuhlakanipha,
23 but we preach Christ crucified; to the Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to the Greeks, foolishness:
kodwa thina sitshumayela uKhristu owabethelwayo: isikhubekiso kumaJuda lobuthutha kwabeZizwe,
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
kodwa kulabo ababizwe nguNkulunkulu, amaJuda lamaGrikhi, uKhristu ungamandla lokuhlakanipha kukaNkulunkulu.
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Ngoba ubuthutha bukaNkulunkulu buhlakaniphile kulokuhlakanipha komuntu, lobuthakathaka bukaNkulunkulu bulamandla kulamandla omuntu.
26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble call you;
Bazalwane, khumbulani ngalokho elaliyikho ekubizweni kwenu. Kababanengi phakathi kwenu ababehlakaniphile ngesilinganiso sabantu; kababanengi ababelamandla; kababanengi ababezalwa yizikhulu.
27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world, that he may bring to shame the wise; and the weak things of the world has God chosen, that he may put to shame the strong;
Kodwa uNkulunkulu wakhetha izinto zasemhlabeni eziyizithutha ukuba ayangise izihlakaniphi; uNkulunkulu wakhetha izinto zasemhlabeni ezibuthakathaka ukuba ayangise abalamandla.
28 and the ignoble things of the world, and the things that are despised, has God chosen, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought things that are;
Wakhetha izinto zalo umhlaba eziphansi lezinto ezeyisekayo kanye lezinto ezingekho ukuba achithe okukhona,
29 that no flesh should glory in his presence.
ukuze kungabi lamuntu ozazincoma phambi kwakhe.
30 But of him are you in Christ Jesus, who has become to us, from God, wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption;
Ngenxa yakhe lina likuKhristu uJesu, yena osebe yikuhlakanipha okuvela kuNkulunkulu esenzela thina, okuyikulunga kwethu, ubungcwele lokusindiswa.
31 that, as it is written: He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.
Ngakho-ke, njengoba kulotshiwe ukuthi: “Lowo ozincomayo kazincome eNkosini.”
