1 Corinthians 1
1 Paul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, and Sosthenes my brother,
因天主的旨意，蒙召為耶穌基督宗徒的保祿和索斯特及弟兄，
2 to the church of God which is in Corinth, to the sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all that in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
致書給格林多的天主教會，就是給那些在基督耶穌內受祝聖，與一切在各地呼求我們的主，亦即他們和我們的主尸基督之名，一同蒙召為聖的人。
3 grace be to you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
願恩寵與平安，由我們的父天主和主耶穌基督賜給你們。
4 I thank my God always on your account, for the grace of God which is given to you in Christ Jesus;
我時時為你們，對天主在基督耶穌內所賜與你們的恩寵，而感謝我的又主，
5 that you are enriched by him in every thing, in all speech, and in all knowledge,
因為藉著祂，你們在一切事上，在一切言論和知識上，都成了富有的；
6 even as the testimony concerning the Christ was con firmed among you,
並且我為基督所作的證言，在你們中是這樣的堅定，
7 so that you are deficient in no gift, while waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
以致你們已不缺少任何恩寵，只待我們的主耶穌基督的出現；
8 He also will establish you even to the end, and make you blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
天主必要堅定你們到底，使你們在我們的主耶穌基督的日子上，無瑕可指。
9 God is faithful, by whom you have been called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
天主是忠信的，你們原是由祂所召，為同祂的聖子，我們的主耶穌基督，合而為一。
10 Now, I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no schisms among you, but that you be perfectly united in the same mind, and in the same judgment.
弟兄們，我因我們的主耶穌基督之名，求你們眾人言談一致，在你們中間不要有分裂，但要同心合意，全然相合。
11 For it has been made known to me concerning you, my brethren, by the family of Cloe, that there are contentions among you.
因為，我的弟兄們，我由黑羅厄的家人聽說你們中發生了紛爭。
12 I mean this: that each one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.
我的意思是說，你們各自分稱：我是屬保祿的，我是屬阿頗羅的，我是屬刻法的，我是屬基督的。
13 Is the Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were you immersed into the name of Paul?
基督被分裂了嗎？難道保祿為你們被釘死在十字架上嗎？或者你們受洗是屬於保祿名下嗎？
14 I thank God that I immersed none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
我感謝天主，除了克黎斯頗和加約外，我沒有給你們中的任何人付過洗，
15 that no one may say that I immersed into my own name.
免得有人說：你們受洗是歸我的名下。
16 I did, indeed, immerse the household of Stephanus; besides, I know not whether I immersed any other.
我還給斯特法納一家付過洗；此外我就不記得還給誰付過洗了。
17 For Christ sent me not to immerse, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of speech, lest the cross of the Christ should be deprived of its power.
原來基督派遺我，不是為施洗，而是為宣傳福音，且不用巧妙的言辭，免得基督十字架失去效力。
18 For the preaching of the cross is to those who perish, foolishness; but to us who are saved, it is the power of God.
原來十字架的道理，為喪亡的人是愚妄，為我們得救的人，卻是天主的德能，
19 For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; and I will set aside the understanding of the prudent.
因為經上記載：『我要摧毀智者的智慧，廢除賢者的聰明。
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn g165)
智者在哪裡？天主豈不是使這世上的智慧變成妄嗎？ (aiōn g165)
21 For, since in the wisdom of God, the world, by its wisdom, knew not God, it has pleased God, through the foolishness of what is preached, to save those who believe.
因為世人沒有憑自己的智慧，認識天主，天主遂以自己的智慧，決意以愚妄的道理來拯救那些相信的人。
22 For the Jews ask for a sign, and the Greeks seek for wisdom;
的確，猶太人要求的是神蹟，希臘人尋求的智慧，
23 but we preach Christ crucified; to the Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to the Greeks, foolishness:
這為猶太人固然是絆腳石，為外邦人是愚妄，
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
但為那些蒙召的，不拘是猶太人或希臘人，基督卻是天主的德能和天主的智慧：
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
因為天主的愚妄總比人門智，天主的懦弱也總比人強。
26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble call you;
弟兄們！你們看看你們是怎麼蒙召的：按肉眼看，你們人聰明的人並不多，有權勢的人也不多，顯貴的人也不多；
27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world, that he may bring to shame the wise; and the weak things of the world has God chosen, that he may put to shame the strong;
天主偏召了世上愚妄的，為羞辱那智慧的；召選了世上懦弱的，為羞那堅強的；
28 and the ignoble things of the world, and the things that are despised, has God chosen, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought things that are;
甚而天主召選了世上卑賤的和受人輕視的，以及那些一無所有的，
29 that no flesh should glory in his presence.
為使一切有血肉的人，在天主前無所誇耀。
30 But of him are you in Christ Jesus, who has become to us, from God, wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption;
你們得以結合於基督耶穌內，全是由於天主，也是由於天主，基督成了我們的智慧，正義，聖化者和救贖者，
31 that, as it is written: He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.
正如經上所記載的：『凡要誇耀的，應因主而誇耀。』
