Psalms 8

1 For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth, Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens!

Para el músico principal; en un instrumento de Gath. Un salmo de David. Yahvé, nuestro Señor, ¡qué majestuoso es tu nombre en toda la tierra! Has puesto tu gloria por encima de los cielos.

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established strength, Because of thine adversaries, That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

De los labios de los bebés y de los niños has establecido la fuerza, a causa de tus adversarios, para que acalles al enemigo y al vengador.

3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

Cuando considero tus cielos, obra de tus dedos, la luna y las estrellas, que tú has ordenado,

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?

¿Qué es el hombre, para que pienses en él? ¿Qué es el hijo del hombre, para que te preocupes por él?

5 For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor.

Porque lo has hecho un poco más bajo que los ángeles, y lo coronó de gloria y honor.

6 Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet:

Lo haces gobernar sobre las obras de tus manos. Has puesto todas las cosas bajo sus pies:

7 All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the field,

Todas las ovejas y el ganado, sí, y los animales del campo,

8 The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

las aves del cielo, los peces del mar, y todo lo que pasa por los caminos de los mares.

9 O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Yahvé, nuestro Señor, ¡qué majestuoso es tu nombre en toda la tierra!
