Psalms 36
1 For the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the servant of Jehovah. The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.
Til sangmesteren; av Herrens tjener, av David. Syndens ord til den ugudelige er i mitt hjertes innerste. Det er ikke gudsfrykt for hans øine.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.
For en smigrer ham i hans øine ved å finne hans synd, ved å hate ham.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He hath ceased to be wise [and] to do good.
Hans munns ord er urett og svik; han har latt av å fare viselig frem, å gjøre godt.
4 He deviseth iniquity upon his bed; He setteth himself in a way that is not good; He abhorreth not evil.
Han optenker urett på sitt leie, han stiller sig på en vei som ikke er god; det onde hater han ikke.
5 Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness [reacheth] unto the skies.
Herre! til himmelen når din miskunnhet, din trofasthet inntil skyene.
6 Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; Thy judgments are a great deep: O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast.
Din rettferdighet er som veldige fjell, dine dommer er et stort dyp; mennesker og dyr frelser du, Herre!
7 How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.
Hvor kostelig er din miskunnhet, Gud! Menneskenes barn søker ly i dine vingers skygge.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; And thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
De mettes overflødig av ditt huses fedme, og av dine gleders strøm gir du dem å drikke.
9 For with thee is the fountain of life: In thy light shall we see light.
For hos dig er livets kilde, i ditt lys ser vi lys.
10 Oh continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee, And thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
La din miskunnhet vare ved for dem som kjenner dig, og din rettferdighet for de opriktige av hjertet.
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
La ikke den overmodiges fot komme over mig og ikke de ugudeliges hånd jage mig bort!
12 There are the workers of iniquity fallen: They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
Der faller de som gjør urett; de blir støtt ned og kan ikke reise sig.
