Proverbs 12
1 Whoso loveth correction loveth knowledge; But he that hateth reproof is brutish.
Kto kocha karność, kocha wiedzę, a kto nienawidzi upomnienia, jest głupi.
2 A good man shall obtain favor of Jehovah; But a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
Dobry [człowiek] zdobędzie łaskę PANA, ale [PAN] potępi podstępnego.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness; But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
Człowiek nie umocni się niegodziwością, lecz korzeń sprawiedliwych nie będzie poruszony.
4 A worthy woman is the crown of her husband; But she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
Żona cnotliwa [jest] koroną swego męża, ale ta, która go hańbi, [jest] jak zgnilizna w jego kościach.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are just; [But] the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Myśli sprawiedliwych są prawe, a rady niegodziwych zdradliwe.
6 The words of the wicked are of lying in wait for blood; But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Słowa niegodziwych czyhają na krew, lecz usta prawych ocalą ich.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not; But the house of the righteous shall stand.
Niegodziwi zostają powaleni i już ich nie ma, a dom sprawiedliwych się ostoi.
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom; But he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
Człowiek będzie chwalony za jego mądrość, a kto jest przewrotnego serca, zostanie wzgardzony.
9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, Than he that honoreth himself, and lacketh bread.
Lepszy [jest człowiek] wzgardzony, który ma sługę, niż ten, kto się chwali, a któremu brak chleba.
10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Sprawiedliwy dba o życie swego bydła, a serce niegodziwych jest okrutne.
11 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread; But he that followeth after vain [persons] is void of understanding.
Kto uprawia swoją ziemię, nasyci się chlebem, a kto naśladuje próżnujących, jest nierozumny.
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men; But the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
Niegodziwy pragnie sieci złych, a korzeń sprawiedliwych wydaje [owoc].
13 In the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man; But the righteous shall come out of trouble.
Zły zostaje usidlony przez grzech swoich warg, a sprawiedliwy wyjdzie z ucisku.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; And the doings of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
Człowiek nasyci się dobrem z owocu swoich ust, a za [dzieła] swoich rąk otrzyma zapłatę.
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; But he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
Droga głupiego [wydaje się] słuszna w jego oczach, ale kto słucha rady, jest mądry.
16 A fool’s vexation is presently known; But a prudent man concealeth shame.
Gniew głupiego objawia się od razu, a roztropny skrywa hańbę.
17 He that uttereth truth showeth forth righteousness; But a false witness, deceit.
Kto mówi prawdę, wyraża sprawiedliwość, ale fałszywy świadek – oszustwo.
18 There is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword; But the tongue of the wise is health.
Znajdzie się taki, którego [słowa] są jak miecz przeszywający, lecz język mądrych [jest] lekarstwem.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever; But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
Prawdomówne wargi będą trwać na wieki, ale język kłamliwy [trwa] króciutko.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; But to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Podstęp [jest] w sercu tych, którzy knują zło, lecz u doradzających pokój [jest] radość.
21 There shall no mischief happen to the righteous; But the wicked shall be filled with evil.
Sprawiedliwego nie spotka żadne zło, ale niegodziwi będą pełni nieszczęścia.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; But they that deal truly are his delight.
Wargi kłamliwe budzą odrazę w PANU, a ci, którzy postępują w prawdzie, podobają mu się.
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge; But the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
Człowiek roztropny ukrywa wiedzę, a serce głupich rozgłasza głupotę.
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; But the slothful shall be put under taskwork.
Ręka pracowitych będzie panowała, a leniwa będzie płaciła daninę.
25 Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop; But a good word maketh it glad.
Troska w sercu człowieka przygnębia je, a dobre słowo je rozwesela.
26 The righteous is a guide to his neighbor; But the way of the wicked causeth them to err.
Sprawiedliwy jest zacniejszy od swego bliźniego, a droga niegodziwych prowadzi ich na manowce.
27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting; But the precious substance of men [is to] the diligent.
Leniwy nie upiecze tego, co upolował, ale mienie człowieka pracowitego [jest] cenne.
28 In the way of righteousness is life; And in the pathway thereof there is no death.
Na ścieżce sprawiedliwości jest życie, na jej drodze nie ma śmierci.
