Proverbs 10
1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
Παροιμίαι Σολομώντος. Υιός σοφός ευφραίνει πατέρα· υιός δε άφρων είναι λύπη της μητρός αυτού.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; But righteousness delivereth from death.
Οι θησαυροί της ανομίας δεν ωφελούσιν· η δε δικαιοσύνη ελευθερόνει εκ θανάτου.
3 Jehovah will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish; But he thrusteth away the desire of the wicked.
Ο Κύριος δεν θέλει λιμοκτονήσει ψυχήν δικαίου· ανατρέπει δε την περιουσίαν των ασεβών.
4 He becometh poor that worketh with a slack hand; But the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Η οκνηρά χειρ πτωχείαν φέρει· πλουτίζει δε η χειρ του επιμελούς.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; [But] he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
Ο συνάγων εν τω θέρει είναι υιός συνέσεως· ο δε κοιμώμενος εν τω θερισμώ υιός αισχύνης.
6 Blessings are upon the head of the righteous; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Ευλογία επί την κεφαλήν του δικαίου· το στόμα δε των ασεβών αδικία καλύπτει.
7 The memory of the righteous is blessed; But the name of the wicked shall rot.
Η μνήμη του δικαίου είναι μετ' ευλογίας· το δε όνομα των ασεβών σήπεται.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments; But a prating fool shall fall.
Ο σοφός την καρδίαν θέλει δέχεσθαι εντολάς· ο δε μωρός τα χείλη θέλει υποσκελισθή.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely; But he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Ο περιπατών εν ακεραιότητι περιπατεί ασφαλώς· ο δε διαστρέφων τας οδούς αυτού θέλει γνωρισθή.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow; But a prating fool shall fall.
Όστις νεύει διά του οφθαλμού, προξενεί οδύνην· ο δε μωρός τα χείλη θέλει υποσκελισθή.
11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life; But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Το στόμα του δικαίου είναι πηγή ζωής· το στόμα δε των ασεβών αδικία καλύπτει.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes; But love covereth all transgressions.
Το μίσος διεγείρει έριδας· αλλ' η αγάπη καλύπτει πάντα τα σφάλματα.
13 In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found; But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
Εις τα χείλη του συνετού ευρίσκεται η σοφία· η δε ράβδος είναι διά την ράχιν του ενδεούς φρενών.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge; But the mouth of the foolish is a present destruction.
Οι σοφοί αποταμιεύουσι γνώσιν· το στόμα δε του προπετούς είναι πλησίον απωλείας.
15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
Τα αγαθά του πλουσίου είναι η οχυρά αυτού πόλις· καταστροφή δε των πενήτων πτωχεία αυτών.
16 The labor of the righteous [tendeth] to life; The increase of the wicked, to sin.
Τα έργα του δικαίου είναι εις ζωήν· το προϊόν του ασεβούς εις αμαρτίαν.
17 He is in the way of life that heedeth correction; But he that forsaketh reproof erreth.
Ο φυλάττων την παιδείαν ευρίσκεται εν οδώ ζωής· ο δε εγκαταλείπων τον έλεγχον αποπλανάται.
18 He that hideth hatred is of lying lips; And he that uttereth a slander is a fool.
Όστις καλύπτει μίσος υπό χείλη ψευδή, και όστις προφέρει συκοφαντίαν, είναι άφρων.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; But he that refraineth his lips doeth wisely.
Εν τη πολυλογία δεν λείπει αμαρτία· αλλ' όστις κρατεί τα χείλη αυτού, είναι συνετός.
20 The tongue of the righteous is [as] choice silver: The heart of the wicked is little worth.
Η γλώσσα του δικαίου αργύριον εκλεκτόν· η καρδία των ασεβών πράγμα μηδαμινόν.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many; But the foolish die for lack of understanding.
Τα χείλη του δικαίου βόσκουσι πολλούς· οι δε άφρονες αποθνήσκουσι δι' έλλειψιν φρενών.
22 The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich; And he addeth no sorrow therewith.
Η ευλογία του Κυρίου πλουτίζει, και λύπη δεν θέλει προστεθή εις αυτήν.
23 It is as sport to a fool to do wickedness; And [so is] wisdom to a man of understanding.
Ως γέλως είναι εις τον άφρονα να πράττη κακόν· η δε σοφία είναι ανδρός συνετού.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him; And the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
Ο φόβος του ασεβούς θέλει επέλθει επ' αυτόν· η επιθυμία δε των δικαίων θέλει εκπληρωθή.
25 When the whirlwind passeth, the wicked is no more; But the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
Καθώς παρέρχεται ο ανεμοστρόβιλος, ούτως ο ασεβής δεν υπάρχει· ο δε δίκαιος θέλει είσθαι τεθεμελιωμένος εις τον αιώνα.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, So is the sluggard to them that send him.
Καθώς το όξος εις τους οδόντας και ο καπνός εις τους οφθαλμούς, ούτως είναι ο οκνηρός εις τους αποστέλλοντας αυτόν.
27 The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Ο φόβος του Κυρίου προσθέτει ημέρας· τα δε έτη των ασεβών θέλουσιν ελαττωθή.
28 The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness; But the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
Η προσδοκία των δικαίων θέλει είσθαι ευφροσύνη· η ελπίς όμως των ασεβών θέλει απολεσθή.
29 The way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
Η οδός του Κυρίου είναι οχύρωμα εις τον άμεμπτον, όλεθρος δε εις τους εργάτας της ανομίας.
30 The righteous shall never be removed; But the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
Ο δίκαιος εις τον αιώνα δεν θέλει σαλευθή· οι δε ασεβείς δεν θέλουσι κατοικήσει την γην.
31 The mouth of the righteous bringeth forth wisdom; But the perverse tongue shall be cut off.
Το στόμα του δικαίου αναδίδει σοφίαν· η δε ψευδής γλώσσα θέλει εκκοπή.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable; But the mouth of the wicked [speaketh] perverseness.
Τα χείλη του δικαίου γνωρίζουσι το ευχάριστον· το στόμα δε των ασεβών τα διεστραμμένα.
