Matthew 16
1 And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and trying him asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
તદાનીં ફિરૂશિનઃ સિદૂકિનશ્ચાગત્ય તં પરીક્ષિતું નભમીયં કિઞ્ચન લક્ષ્મ દર્શયિતું તસ્મૈ નિવેદયામાસુઃ|
2 But he answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, [It will be] fair weather: for the heaven is red.
તતઃ સ ઉક્તવાન્, સન્ધ્યાયાં નભસો રક્તત્વાદ્ યૂયં વદથ, શ્વો નિર્મ્મલં દિનં ભવિષ્યતિ;
3 And in the morning, [It will be] foul weather to-day: for the heaven is red and lowering. Ye know how to discern the face of the heaven; but ye cannot [discern] the signs of the times.
પ્રાતઃકાલે ચ નભસો રક્તત્વાત્ મલિનત્વાઞ્ચ વદથ, ઝઞ્ભ્શદ્ય ભવિષ્યતિ| હે કપટિનો યદિ યૂયમ્ અન્તરીક્ષસ્ય લક્ષ્મ બોદ્ધું શક્નુથ, તર્હિ કાલસ્યૈતસ્ય લક્ષ્મ કથં બોદ્ધું ન શક્નુથ?
4 An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of Jonah. And he left them, and departed.
એતત્કાલસ્ય દુષ્ટો વ્યભિચારી ચ વંશો લક્ષ્મ ગવેષયતિ, કિન્તુ યૂનસો ભવિષ્યદ્વાદિનો લક્ષ્મ વિનાન્યત્ કિમપિ લક્ષ્મ તાન્ ન દર્શયિય્યતે| તદાનીં સ તાન્ વિહાય પ્રતસ્થે|
5 And the disciples came to the other side and forgot to take bread.
અનન્તરમન્યપારગમનકાલે તસ્ય શિષ્યાઃ પૂપમાનેતું વિસ્મૃતવન્તઃ|
6 And Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
યીશુસ્તાનવાદીત્, યૂયં ફિરૂશિનાં સિદૂકિનાઞ્ચ કિણ્વં પ્રતિ સાવધાનાઃ સતર્કાશ્ચ ભવત|
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, We took no bread.
તેન તે પરસ્પરં વિવિચ્ય કથયિતુમારેભિરે, વયં પૂપાનાનેતું વિસ્મૃતવન્ત એતત્કારણાદ્ ઇતિ કથયતિ|
8 And Jesus perceiving it said, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have no bread?
કિન્તુ યીશુસ્તદ્વિજ્ઞાય તાનવોચત્, હે સ્તોકવિશ્વાસિનો યૂયં પૂપાનાનયનમધિ કુતઃ પરસ્પરમેતદ્ વિવિંક્ય?
9 Do ye not yet perceive, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
યુષ્માભિઃ કિમદ્યાપિ ન જ્ઞાયતે? પઞ્ચભિઃ પૂપૈઃ પઞ્ચસહસ્રપુરુષેષુ ભોજિતેષુ ભક્ષ્યોચ્છિષ્ટપૂર્ણાન્ કતિ ડલકાન્ સમગૃહ્લીતં;
10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
તથા સપ્તભિઃ પૂપૈશ્ચતુઃસહસ્રપુરુષેષુ ભેજિતેષુ કતિ ડલકાન્ સમગૃહ્લીત, તત્ કિં યુષ્માભિર્ન સ્મર્ય્યતે?
11 How is it that ye do not perceive that I spake not to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
તસ્માત્ ફિરૂશિનાં સિદૂકિનાઞ્ચ કિણ્વં પ્રતિ સાવધાનાસ્તિષ્ઠત, કથામિમામ્ અહં પૂપાનધિ નાકથયં, એતદ્ યૂયં કુતો ન બુધ્યધ્વે?
12 Then understood they that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
તદાનીં પૂપકિણ્વં પ્રતિ સાવધાનાસ્તિષ્ઠતેતિ નોક્ત્વા ફિરૂશિનાં સિદૂકિનાઞ્ચ ઉપદેશં પ્રતિ સાવધાનાસ્તિષ્ઠતેતિ કથિતવાન્, ઇતિ તૈરબોધિ|
13 Now when Jesus came into the parts of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that the Son of man is?
અપરઞ્ચ યીશુઃ કૈસરિયા-ફિલિપિપ્રદેશમાગત્ય શિષ્યાન્ અપૃચ્છત્, યોઽહં મનુજસુતઃ સોઽહં કઃ? લોકૈરહં કિમુચ્યે?
14 And they said, Some [say] John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
તદાનીં તે કથિતવન્તઃ, કેચિદ્ વદન્તિ ત્વં મજ્જયિતા યોહન્, કેચિદ્વદન્તિ, ત્વમ્ એલિયઃ, કેચિચ્ચ વદન્તિ, ત્વં યિરિમિયો વા કશ્ચિદ્ ભવિષ્યદ્વાદીતિ|
15 He saith unto them, But who say ye that I am?
પશ્ચાત્ સ તાન્ પપ્રચ્છ, યૂયં માં કં વદથ? તતઃ શિમોન્ પિતર ઉવાચ,
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
ત્વમમરેશ્વરસ્યાભિષિક્તપુત્રઃ|
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in heaven.
તતો યીશુઃ કથિતવાન્, હે યૂનસઃ પુત્ર શિમોન્ ત્વં ધન્યઃ; યતઃ કોપિ અનુજસ્ત્વય્યેતજ્જ્ઞાનં નોદપાદયત્, કિન્તુ મમ સ્વર્ગસ્યઃ પિતોદપાદયત્|
18 And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
અતોઽહં ત્વાં વદામિ, ત્વં પિતરઃ (પ્રસ્તરઃ) અહઞ્ચ તસ્ય પ્રસ્તરસ્યોપરિ સ્વમણ્ડલીં નિર્મ્માસ્યામિ, તેન નિરયો બલાત્ તાં પરાજેતું ન શક્ષ્યતિ| (Hadēs g86)
19 I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
અહં તુભ્યં સ્વર્ગીયરાજ્યસ્ય કુઞ્જિકાં દાસ્યામિ, તેન યત્ કિઞ્ચન ત્વં પૃથિવ્યાં ભંત્સ્યસિ તત્સ્વર્ગે ભંત્સ્યતે, યચ્ચ કિઞ્ચન મહ્યાં મોક્ષ્યસિ તત્ સ્વર્ગે મોક્ષ્યતે|
20 Then charged he the disciples that they should tell no man that he was the Christ.
પશ્ચાત્ સ શિષ્યાનાદિશત્, અહમભિષિક્તો યીશુરિતિ કથાં કસ્મૈચિદપિ યૂયં મા કથયત|
21 From that time began Jesus to show unto his disciples, that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.
અન્યઞ્ચ યિરૂશાલમ્નગરં ગત્વા પ્રાચીનલોકેભ્યઃ પ્રધાનયાજકેભ્ય ઉપાધ્યાયેભ્યશ્ચ બહુદુઃખભોગસ્તૈ ર્હતત્વં તૃતીયદિને પુનરુત્થાનઞ્ચ મમાવશ્યકમ્ એતાઃ કથા યીશુસ્તત્કાલમારભ્ય શિષ્યાન્ જ્ઞાપયિતુમ્ આરબ્ધવાન્|
22 And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall never be unto thee.
તદાનીં પિતરસ્તસ્ય કરં ઘૃત્વા તર્જયિત્વા કથયિતુમારબ્ધવાન્, હે પ્રભો, તત્ ત્વત્તો દૂરં યાતુ, ત્વાં પ્રતિ કદાપિ ન ઘટિષ્યતે|
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art a stumbling-block unto me: for thou mindest not the things of God, but the things of men.
કિન્તુ સ વદનં પરાવર્ત્ય પિતરં જગાદ, હે વિઘ્નકારિન્, મત્સમ્મુખાદ્ દૂરીભવ, ત્વં માં બાધસે, ઈશ્વરીયકાર્ય્યાત્ માનુષીયકાર્ય્યં તુભ્યં રોચતે|
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
અનન્તરં યીશુઃ સ્વીયશિષ્યાન્ ઉક્તવાન્ યઃ કશ્ચિત્ મમ પશ્ચાદ્ગામી ભવિતુમ્ ઇચ્છતિ, સ સ્વં દામ્યતુ, તથા સ્વક્રુશં ગૃહ્લન્ મત્પશ્ચાદાયાતુ|
25 For whosoever would save his life shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.
યતો યઃ પ્રાણાન્ રક્ષિતુમિચ્છતિ, સ તાન્ હારયિષ્યતિ, કિન્તુ યો મદર્થં નિજપ્રાણાન્ હારયતિ, સ તાન્ પ્રાપ્સ્યતિ|
26 For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?
માનુષો યદિ સર્વ્વં જગત્ લભતે નિજપ્રણાન્ હારયતિ, તર્હિ તસ્ય કો લાભઃ? મનુજો નિજપ્રાણાનાં વિનિમયેન વા કિં દાતું શક્નોતિ?
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds.
મનુજસુતઃ સ્વદૂતૈઃ સાકં પિતુઃ પ્રભાવેણાગમિષ્યતિ; તદા પ્રતિમનુજં સ્વસ્વકર્મ્માનુસારાત્ ફલં દાસ્યતિ|
28 Verily I say unto you, There are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
અહં યુષ્માન્ તથ્યં વચ્મિ, સરાજ્યં મનુજસુતમ્ આગતં ન પશ્યન્તો મૃત્યું ન સ્વાદિષ્યન્તિ, એતાદૃશાઃ કતિપયજના અત્રાપિ દણ્ડાયમાનાઃ સન્તિ|
