Jeremiah 23

1 Woe unto the shepherds that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith Jehovah.

“എന്റെ മേച്ചിൽപ്പുറത്തെ ആടുകളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചിതറിച്ചുകളയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഇടയന്മാർക്ക് അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

2 Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, against the shepherds that feed my people: Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them; behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith Jehovah.

അതുകൊണ്ട് എന്റെ ജനത്തെ മേയിക്കുന്ന ഇടയന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ച് ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റത്തെ സൂക്ഷിക്കാതെ ചിതറിക്കുകയും ഓടിച്ചുകളയുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടതയ്ക്കുള്ള ശിക്ഷ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വരുത്തും,” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and multiply.

“എന്റെ ആട്ടിൻപറ്റത്തിൽ ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവയെ, ഞാൻ അവയെ ചിതറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ ദേശങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും ശേഖരിച്ച് അവയുടെ മേച്ചിൽപ്പുറത്തേക്കു തിരികെക്കൊണ്ടുവരും. അവിടെ അവർ പുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവരായി വർധിക്കും.

4 And I will set up shepherds over them, who shall feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be lacking, saith Jehovah.

ഞാൻ അവയ്ക്ക് ഇടയന്മാരെ എഴുന്നേൽപ്പിക്കും; അവർ അവയെ പരിപാലിക്കും. അവ മേലാൽ പേടിക്കുകയില്ല, ഭ്രമിക്കുകയില്ല, നഷ്ടപ്പെടുകയുമില്ല,” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

5 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

“ഇതാ, ഞാൻ ദാവീദിനുവേണ്ടി നീതിയുള്ള ഒരു ശാഖ എഴുന്നേൽപ്പിക്കുന്ന കാലം വരുന്നു,” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. “ആ രാജാവ് ജ്ഞാനത്തോടെ ഭരണം നടത്തുകയും ദേശത്ത് ന്യായവും നീതിയും നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.

6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name whereby he shall be called: Jehovah our righteousness.

അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാലത്ത് യെഹൂദാ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടും, ഇസ്രായേൽ സുരക്ഷിതരായി ജീവിക്കും. യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ നീതിമാനായ രക്ഷകൻ, എന്ന പേരിനാൽ അദ്ദേഹം അറിയപ്പെടും.

7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that they shall no more say, As Jehovah liveth, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

‘അതിനാൽ ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കളെ ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശത്തുനിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ജീവിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണെ,’ എന്ന് ഇനിമേൽ ജനം പറയാതെ, ‘ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ അനന്തരഗാമികളെ വടക്കേദേശത്തുനിന്നും അവർ നാടുകടത്തപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന എല്ലാ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ജീവിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണെ,’ എന്നു പറയുന്ന കാലം വരും. അന്ന് അവർ സ്വന്തം ദേശത്തു വസിക്കുമെന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.”

8 but, As Jehovah liveth, who brought up and who led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all the countries whither I had driven them. And they shall dwell in their own land.

9 Concerning the prophets. My heart within me is broken, all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of Jehovah, and because of his holy words.

പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള അരുളപ്പാട്: എന്റെ ഹൃദയം എന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ തകർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെല്ലാം ഇളകുന്നു. യഹോവ നിമിത്തവും അവിടത്തെ വിശുദ്ധവചനങ്ങൾ നിമിത്തവും ഞാൻ കുടിച്ചു മത്തനായവനെപ്പോലെയും വീഞ്ഞിന്റെ ലഹരി ബാധിച്ചവനെപ്പോലെയും ആയിരിക്കുന്നു.

10 For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pastures of the wilderness are dried up. And their course is evil, and their might is not right;

ദേശം വ്യഭിചാരികളാൽ നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ശാപം നിമിത്തം ദേശം വരണ്ടുണങ്ങുന്നു, മരുഭൂമിയിലെ മേച്ചിൽപ്പുറങ്ങൾ ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു. പ്രവാചകർ ദുഷ്ടതനിറഞ്ഞ മാർഗം അവലംബിക്കുന്നു അവരുടെ ബലം അന്യായത്തിന് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.

11 for both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith Jehovah.

“പ്രവാചകനും പുരോഹിതനും ഒരുപോലെ അഭക്തരായിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ആലയത്തിൽപോലും ഞാൻ അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടത കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

12 Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery places in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein; for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith Jehovah.

“അതുകൊണ്ട് അവരുടെ വഴി അവർക്കു വഴുവഴുപ്പുള്ള പാതപോലെ ആകും; അവർ ഇരുട്ടിലേക്കു നാടുകടത്തപ്പെടുകയും അവിടെ അവർ വീണുപോകുകയും ചെയ്യും. ഞാൻ അവരുടെമേൽ നാശംവരുത്തും; അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്ന വർഷത്തിൽത്തന്നെ,” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

13 And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

“ശമര്യയിലെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരിൽ ഞാൻ അറപ്പുളവാക്കുന്നവ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു: അവർ ബാലിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ പ്രവചിച്ച് എന്റെ ജനമായ ഇസ്രായേലിനെ വഴിതെറ്റിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

14 In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies; and they strengthen the hands of evil-doers, so that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them become unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

ജെറുശലേമിലെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരിലാകട്ടെ, ഭയാനകമായ ഒരു കാര്യം ഞാൻ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു: അവർ വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുകയും വ്യാജത്തിൽ ജീവിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ആരും ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ട് പിന്മാറാതിരിക്കുമാറ് അവർ ദുഷ്കർമികളുടെ കരത്തെ ബലപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. അവരെല്ലാവരും എനിക്കു സൊദോംപോലെയും അവിടത്തെ നിവാസികൾ ഗൊമോറാപോലെയും ആയിരിക്കുന്നു.”

15 Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall; for from the prophets of Jerusalem is ungodliness gone forth into all the land.

അതിനാൽ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ച് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഞാൻ അവരെ കയ്‌പുള്ള ഭക്ഷണം തീറ്റിക്കുകയും വിഷജലം കുടിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും, കാരണം ജെറുശലേമിലെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരിൽനിന്നു ദേശത്തു മുഴുവൻ വഷളത്തം വ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”

16 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they teach you vanity; they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Jehovah.

സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രവചിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വചനങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കരുത്; അവർ നിങ്ങളെ വ്യാജവാഗ്ദാനങ്ങളാൽ നയിക്കുന്നു. അവർ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവയുടെ വായിൽനിന്നുള്ളതല്ല, സ്വന്തം ഹൃദയങ്ങളിലെ സങ്കൽപ്പങ്ങളാണ് അവരുടെ ദർശനങ്ങൾ.

17 They say continually unto them that despise me, Jehovah hath said, Ye shall have peace; and unto every one that walketh in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil shall come upon you.

എന്നെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നവരോട്, അവർ, ‘നിങ്ങൾക്കു സമാധാനം ഉണ്ടാകും എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു,’ എന്നു പറയുന്നു. സ്വന്തം ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ പിടിവാശിക്കനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരോടും അവർ, ‘നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരു അനർഥവും സംഭവിക്കുകയില്ല,’ എന്നും പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു.

18 For who hath stood in the council of Jehovah, that he should perceive and hear his word? who hath marked my word, and heard it?

എന്നാൽ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം ദർശിക്കുകയും കേൾക്കുകയും തക്കവണ്ണം അവരിൽ ആരാണ് അവിടത്തെ ആലോചനാസഭയിൽ നിന്നിട്ടുള്ളത്? അവിടത്തെ വചനത്തിനു ചെവിചായ്‌ക്കുകയും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തതും ആര്?

19 Behold, the tempest of Jehovah, [even his] wrath, is gone forth, yea, a whirling tempest: it shall burst upon the head of the wicked.

ഇതാ, യഹോവയുടെ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റ് വലിയ ക്രോധത്തോടുതന്നെ പൊട്ടിപ്പുറപ്പെടും, ഒരു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റ് ചുഴറ്റിയടിക്കുന്നു, ദുഷ്ടരുടെ ശിരസ്സുകളിന്മേൽത്തന്നെ പതിക്കും.

20 The anger of Jehovah shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall understand it perfectly.

യഹോവ തന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ ഉദ്ദേശ്യം നിറവേറ്റുന്നതുവരെയും അവിടത്തെ ക്രോധം പിന്മാറുകയില്ല. ഭാവികാലത്ത് നിങ്ങൾ അതു പൂർണമായും ഗ്രഹിക്കും.

21 I sent not these prophets, yet they ran: I spake not unto them, yet they prophesied.

ഞാൻ ഈ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ അയയ്ക്കാതിരുന്നിട്ടും അവർ അവരുടെ സന്ദേശവുമായി ഓടി; ഞാൻ അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല, എന്നിട്ടും അവർ പ്രവചിച്ചു.

22 But if they had stood in my council, then had they caused my people to hear my words, and had turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

എന്നാൽ അവർ എന്റെ ആലോചനാസഭയിൽ നിന്നിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ, അവർ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന് എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ അറിയിക്കുകയും അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടവഴികളിൽനിന്നും ദുഷ്ടതനിറഞ്ഞ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും അവരെ പിന്തിരിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു.

23 Am I a God at hand, saith Jehovah, and not a God afar off?

“ഞാൻ സമീപസ്ഥനായ ഒരു ദൈവംമാത്രമോ, ഞാൻ വിദൂരസ്ഥനായ ഒരു ദൈവവും അല്ലേ?” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

24 Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? saith Jehovah. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith Jehovah.

“ഞാൻ കാണാതവണ്ണം ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് ഒളിവിടങ്ങളിൽ ഒളിക്കാൻ കഴിയുമോ,” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. “ഞാൻ ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നവനല്ലേ?” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

25 I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

“‘ഞാൻ ഒരു സ്വപ്നംകണ്ടു, ഞാൻ ഒരു സ്വപ്നംകണ്ടു,’ എന്ന് എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വ്യാജം പ്രവചിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്മാർ പറയുന്നത് ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart?

വ്യാജം പ്രവചിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഈ താത്പര്യം എത്രകാലത്തേക്ക് തുടരും? അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ വഞ്ചനയുടെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരാണ്.

27 that think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers forgat my name for Baal.

ബാൽദേവനെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നതുനിമിത്തം അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ എന്റെ നാമം മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞതുപോലെ, അവർ പരസ്പരം വിവരിച്ചു പറയുന്ന സ്വപ്നങ്ങൾനിമിത്തം എന്റെ ജനം എന്റെ നാമം മറന്നുകളയാൻ ഇടവരണമെന്നതാണ് അവരുടെ ലക്ഷ്യം.

28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat? saith Jehovah.

സ്വപ്നം കണ്ട പ്രവാചകൻ സ്വപ്നം വിവരിക്കട്ടെ; എന്റെ വചനം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളവർ എന്റെ വചനം വിശ്വസ്തതയോടെ സംസാരിക്കട്ടെ. വൈക്കോലിനു ധാന്യവുമായി എന്തു ബന്ധം?” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

29 Is not my word like fire? saith Jehovah; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

“എന്റെ വചനം തീപോലെയും പാറയെ തകർക്കുന്ന കൂടംപോലെയും അല്ലേ,” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith Jehovah, that steal my words every one from his neighbor.

“അതിനാൽ, എന്റെ വചനം എന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ട്, പരസ്പരം വാക്കുകൾ മോഷ്ടിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്മാർക്കു ഞാൻ എതിരാണ്,” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith Jehovah, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.

“അതേ, സ്വന്തം നാവു വഴങ്ങുന്നതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ട്, ‘ഇത് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്,’ എന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്മാർക്കു ഞാൻ എതിരായിരിക്കും എന്ന്,” യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy lying dreams, saith Jehovah, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting: yet I sent them not, nor commanded them; neither do they profit this people at all, saith Jehovah.

“അതേ, വ്യാജസ്വപ്നങ്ങൾ പ്രവചനമായി പറയുന്നവരെ ഞാൻ എതിർക്കും. ഞാൻ അയയ്ക്കുകയോ നിയോഗിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാതെ, അവരുടെ നിയന്ത്രണമില്ലാത്ത വ്യാജത്താൽ എന്റെ ജനത്തെ വഴിതെറ്റിക്കുന്നവരെ എതിർക്കുകതന്നെ ചെയ്യും. ഇത്തരം പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കൊണ്ട് ജനത്തിന് യാതൊരു പ്രയോജനവുമില്ല,” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

33 And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of Jehovah? then shalt thou say unto them, What burden! I will cast you off, saith Jehovah.

“ഈ ജനമോ ഒരു പ്രവാചകനോ പുരോഹിതനോ, ‘യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് എന്ത്?’ എന്നു നിന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുമ്പോൾ, നീ അവരോട്: ‘എന്ത് അരുളപ്പാട്! ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളയും,’ എന്നു മറുപടി പറയണം.

34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of Jehovah, I will even punish that man and his house.

ഒരു പ്രവാചകനോ പുരോഹിതനോ ജനത്തിൽ ആരെങ്കിലുമോ, ‘ഇത് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്’ എന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നെങ്കിൽ, അയാളെയും അയാളുടെ ഭവനത്തെയും ഞാൻ ശിക്ഷിക്കും.

35 Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbor, and every one to his brother, What hath Jehovah answered? and, What hath Jehovah spoken?

അതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തരും തങ്ങളുടെ അയൽക്കാരോടോ തന്റെ സഹോദരങ്ങളോടോ, ‘യഹോവ എന്ത് ഉത്തരമരുളുന്നു?’ എന്നും ‘യഹോവ എന്ത് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു?’ എന്നും അത്രേ ചോദിക്കേണ്ടത്.

36 And the burden of Jehovah shall ye mention no more: for every man’s own word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of Jehovah of hosts our God.

എന്നാൽ ‘യഹോവയിൽനിന്നുള്ള അരുളപ്പാട്,’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ഇനിയും പറയാനേ പാടില്ല. കാരണം ഓരോരുത്തരുടെയും വാക്കുകൾ അവരുടെ അരുളപ്പാടായി മാറുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവവുമായ ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങൾ വളച്ചൊടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

37 Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath Jehovah answered thee? and, What hath Jehovah spoken?

‘യഹോവ എന്ത് ഉത്തരമരുളിയിരിക്കുന്നു? അഥവാ, യഹോവ എന്ത് അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു?’ എന്നത്രേ നിങ്ങൾ പ്രവാചകനോടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടത്.

38 But if ye say, The burden of Jehovah; therefore thus saith Jehovah: Because ye say this word, The burden of Jehovah, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of Jehovah;

‘ഇത് യഹോവയിൽനിന്നുള്ള അരുളപ്പാട്,’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ ഇതാണ് യഥാർഥത്തിൽ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്: ‘ഇത് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്,’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അവകാശപ്പെടരുത് എന്നു ഞാൻ കർശനമായി പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നിട്ടും ‘ഇത് യഹോവയിൽനിന്നുള്ള അരുളപ്പാട്,’ എന്ന വാക്കുകൾ നിങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.

39 therefore, behold, I will utterly forget you, and I will cast you off, and the city that I gave unto you and to your fathers, away from my presence:

അതുകൊണ്ട്, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ സമ്പൂർണമായി മറന്നുകളയും. നിങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങൾക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കും നൽകിയ നഗരത്തെയും ഞാൻ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളകയും എന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന് നിങ്ങളെ നീക്കിക്കളയുകയും ചെയ്യും.

40 and I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.
