Amos 7
1 Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, he formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
El Señor Jehová me mostró así; y he aquí que él criaba langostas al principio que comenzaba a crecer el heno tardío. Y he aquí que el heno tardío creció después de las segadas del rey.
2 And it came to pass that, when they made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord Jehovah, forgive, I beseech thee: how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.
Y acaeció que como acabó de comer la yerba de la tierra, yo dije: Señor Jehová, perdona ahora: ¿quién levantará a Jacob? porque es pequeño.
3 Jehovah repented concerning this: It shall not be, saith Jehovah.
Arrepintióse Jehová de esto: no será, dijo Jehová.
4 Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, the Lord Jehovah called to contend by fire; and it devoured the great deep, and would have eaten up the land.
El Señor Jehová después me mostró así; y he aquí que llamaba para juzgar por fuego el Señor Jehová: y consumió un gran abismo, y consumió la parte.
5 Then said I, O Lord Jehovah, cease, I beseech thee: how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.
Y dije: Señor Jehová, cesa ahora: ¿quién levantará a Jacob? porque es pequeño.
6 Jehovah repented concerning this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord Jehovah.
Arrepintióse Jehová de esto: Tampoco esto no será, dijo el Señor Jehová.
7 Thus he showed me: and, behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumb-line, with a plumb-line in his hand.
Enseñóme también así: He aquí que el Señor estaba sobre un muro edificado a plomo de albañil; y tenía en su mano un plomo de albañil.
8 And Jehovah said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumb-line. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumb-line in the midst of my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more;
Jehová entonces me dijo: ¿Qué ves Amós? Y dije: Un plomo de albañil. Y el Señor dijo: He aquí que yo pongo plomo de albañil en medio de mi pueblo Israel: nunca más le pasaré.
9 and the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
Y los altares de Isaac serán destruidos, y los santuarios de Israel serán asolados, y levantarme he con espada sobre la casa de Jeroboam.
10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
Entonces Amasías sacerdote de Bet-el envió a decir a Jeroboam, rey de Israel: Amós ha conjurado contra ti en medio de la casa de Israel: la tierra no puede ya sufrir todas sus palabras.
11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.
Porque así ha dicho Amós: Jeroboam morirá a cuchillo; e Israel pasará de su tierra en cautividad.
12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thou away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
Y Amasías dijo a Amós: Vidente, vete, y huye a tierra de Judá, y come allá tu pan, y profetiza allá.
13 but prophesy not again any more at Beth-el; for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house.
Y no profetices más en Bet-el; porque es santuario del rey, y cabecera del reino.
14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was a herdsman, and a dresser of sycomore-trees:
Y Amós respondió, y dijo a Amasías: No soy profeta, ni soy hijo de profeta: mas soy boyero, y cogedor de cabrahígos.
15 and Jehovah took me from following the flock, and Jehovah said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
Y Jehová me tomó de tras el ganado; y díjome Jehová: Vé, y profetiza a mi pueblo Israel.
16 Now therefore hear thou the word of Jehovah: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not [thy word] against the house of Isaac;
Ahora pues, oye palabra de Jehová: Tú dices: No profetices contra Israel, ni hables contra la casa de Isaac.
17 therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou thyself shalt die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.
Por tanto así dijo Jehová: Tu mujer fornicará en la ciudad, y tus hijos y tus hijas caerán a cuchillo, y tu tierra será partida por suertes; y tu morirás en tierra inmunda; e Israel será traspasado de su tierra.
