Acts 17
1 Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:
பௌலஸீலௌ ஆம்பி²பல்யாபல்லோநியாநக³ராப்⁴யாம்’ க³த்வா யத்ர யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ ப⁴ஜநப⁴வநமேகம் ஆஸ்தே தத்ர தி²ஷலநீகீநக³ர உபஸ்தி²தௌ|
2 and Paul, as his custom was, went in unto them, and for three sabbath days reasoned with them from the scriptures,
ததா³ பௌல: ஸ்வாசாராநுஸாரேண தேஷாம்’ ஸமீபம்’ க³த்வா விஸ்²ராமவாரத்ரயே தை: ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ த⁴ர்ம்மபுஸ்தகீயகதா²யா விசாரம்’ க்ரு’தவாந்|
3 opening and alleging that it behooved the Christ to suffer, and to rise again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom, [said he], I proclaim unto you, is the Christ.
ப²லத: க்²ரீஷ்டேந து³: க²போ⁴க³: கர்த்தவ்ய: ஸ்²மஸா²நது³த்தா²நஞ்ச கர்த்தவ்யம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸந்நிதௌ⁴ யஸ்ய யீஸோ²: ப்ரஸ்தாவம்’ கரோமி ஸ ஈஸ்²வரேணாபி⁴ஷிக்த: ஸ ஏதா: கதா²: ப்ரகாஸ்²ய ப்ரமாணம்’ த³த்வா ஸ்தி²ரீக்ரு’தவாந்|
4 And some of them were persuaded, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.
தஸ்மாத் தேஷாம்’ கதிபயஜநா அந்யதே³ஸீ²யா ப³ஹவோ ப⁴க்தலோகா ப³ஹ்ய: ப்ரதா⁴நநார்ய்யஸ்²ச விஸ்²வஸ்ய பௌலஸீலயோ: பஸ்²சாத்³கா³மிநோ ஜாதா: |
5 But the Jews, being moved with jealousy, took unto them certain vile fellows of the rabble, and gathering a crowd, set the city on an uproar; and assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them forth to the people.
கிந்து விஸ்²வாஸஹீநா யிஹூதீ³யலோகா ஈர்ஷ்யயா பரிபூர்ணா: ஸந்தோ ஹடட்ஸ்ய கதிநயலம்படலோகாந் ஸங்கி³ந: க்ரு’த்வா ஜநதயா நக³ரமத்⁴யே மஹாகலஹம்’ க்ரு’த்வா யாஸோநோ க்³ரு’ஹம் ஆக்ரம்ய ப்ரேரிதாந் த்⁴ரு’த்வா லோகநிவஹஸ்ய ஸமீபம் ஆநேதும்’ சேஷ்டிதவந்த: |
6 And when they found them not, they dragged Jason and certain brethren before the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
தேஷாமுத்³தே³ஸ²ம் அப்ராப்ய ச யாஸோநம்’ கதிபயாந் ப்⁴ராத்ரும்’’ஸ்²ச த்⁴ரு’த்வா நக³ராதி⁴பதீநாம்’ நிகடமாநீய ப்ரோச்சை: கதி²தவந்தோ யே மநுஷ்யா ஜக³து³த்³வாடிதவந்தஸ்தே (அ)த்ராப்யுபஸ்தி²தா: ஸந்தி,
7 whom Jason hath received: and these all act contrary to the decrees of Cæsar, saying that there is another king, [one] Jesus.
ஏஷ யாஸோந் ஆதித்²யம்’ க்ரு’த்வா தாந் க்³ரு’ஹீதவாந்| யீஸு²நாமக ஏகோ ராஜஸ்தீதி கத²யந்தஸ்தே கைஸரஸ்யாஜ்ஞாவிருத்³த⁴ம்’ கர்ம்ம குர்வ்வதி|
8 And they troubled the multitude and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.
தேஷாம்’ கதா²மிமாம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா லோகநிவஹோ நக³ராதி⁴பதயஸ்²ச ஸமுத்³விக்³நா அப⁴வந்|
9 And when they had taken security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.
ததா³ யாஸோநஸ்தத³ந்யேஷாஞ்ச த⁴நத³ண்ட³ம்’ க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா தாந் பரித்யக்தவந்த: |
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Beroea: who when they were come thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
தத: பரம்’ ப்⁴ராத்ரு’க³ணோ ரஜந்யாம்’ பௌலஸீலௌ ஸீ²க்⁴ரம்’ பி³ரயாநக³ரம்’ ப்ரேஷிதவாந் தௌ தத்ரோபஸ்தா²ய யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ ப⁴ஜநப⁴வநம்’ க³தவந்தௌ|
11 Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, examining the scriptures daily, whether these things were so.
தத்ரஸ்தா² லோகா: தி²ஷலநீகீஸ்த²லோகேப்⁴யோ மஹாத்மாந ஆஸந் யத இத்த²ம்’ ப⁴வதி ந வேதி ஜ்ஞாதும்’ தி³நே தி³நே த⁴ர்ம்மக்³ரந்த²ஸ்யாலோசநாம்’ க்ரு’த்வா ஸ்வைரம்’ கதா²ம் அக்³ரு’ஹ்லந்|
12 Many of them therefore believed; also of the Greek women of honorable estate, and of men, not a few.
தஸ்மாத்³ அநேகே யிஹூதீ³யா அந்யதே³ஸீ²யாநாம்’ மாந்யா ஸ்த்ரிய: புருஷாஸ்²சாநேகே வ்யஸ்²வஸந்|
13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was proclaimed of Paul at Beroea also, they came thither likewise, stirring up and troubling the multitudes.
கிந்து பி³ரயாநக³ரே பௌலேநேஸ்²வரீயா கதா² ப்ரசார்ய்யத இதி தி²ஷலநீகீஸ்தா² யிஹூதீ³யா ஜ்ஞாத்வா தத்ஸ்தா²நமப்யாக³த்ய லோகாநாம்’ குப்ரவ்ரு’த்திம் அஜநயந்|
14 And then immediately the brethren sent forth Paul to go as far as to the sea: and Silas and Timothy abode there still.
அதஏவ தஸ்மாத் ஸ்தா²நாத் ஸமுத்³ரேண யாந்தீதி த³ர்ஸ²யித்வா ப்⁴ராதர: க்ஷிப்ரம்’ பௌலம்’ ப்ராஹிண்வந் கிந்து ஸீலதீமதி²யௌ தத்ர ஸ்தி²தவந்தௌ|
15 But they that conducted Paul brought him as far as Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timothy that they should come to him with all speed, they departed.
தத: பரம்’ பௌலஸ்ய மார்க³த³ர்ஸ²காஸ்தம் ஆதீ²நீநக³ர உபஸ்தா²பயந் பஸ்²சாத்³ யுவாம்’ தூர்ணம் ஏதத் ஸ்தா²நம்’ ஆக³மிஷ்யத²: ஸீலதீமதி²யௌ ப்ரதீமாம் ஆஜ்ஞாம்’ ப்ராப்ய தே ப்ரத்யாக³தா: |
16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he beheld the city full of idols.
பௌல ஆதீ²நீநக³ரே தாவபேக்ஷ்ய திஷ்ட²ந் தந்நக³ரம்’ ப்ரதிமாபி⁴: பரிபூர்ணம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா ஸந்தப்தஹ்ரு’த³யோ (அ)ப⁴வத்|
17 So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with them that met him.
தத: ஸ ப⁴ஜநப⁴வநே யாந் யிஹூதீ³யாந் ப⁴க்தலோகாம்’ஸ்²ச ஹட்டே ச யாந் அபஸ்²யத் தை: ஸஹ ப்ரதிதி³நம்’ விசாரிதவாந்|
18 And certain also of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, What would this babbler say? others, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached Jesus and the resurrection.
கிந்த்விபிகூரீயமதக்³ரஹிண: ஸ்தோயிகீயமதக்³ராஹிணஸ்²ச கியந்தோ ஜநாஸ்தேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ வ்யவத³ந்த| தத்ர கேசித்³ அகத²யந் ஏஷ வாசால: கிம்’ வக்தும் இச்ச²தி? அபரே கேசித்³ ஏஷ ஜந: கேஷாஞ்சித்³ விதே³ஸீ²யதே³வாநாம்’ ப்ரசாரக இத்யநுமீயதே யத: ஸ யீஸு²ம் உத்தி²திஞ்ச ப்ரசாரயத்|
19 And they took hold of him, and brought him unto the Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new teaching is, which is spoken by thee?
தே தம் அரேயபாக³நாம விசாரஸ்தா²நம் ஆநீய ப்ராவோசந் இத³ம்’ யந்நவீநம்’ மதம்’ த்வம்’ ப்ராசீகஸ² இத³ம்’ கீத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ ஏதத்³ அஸ்மாந் ஸ்²ராவய;
20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.
யாமிமாம் அஸம்ப⁴வகதா²ம் அஸ்மாகம்’ கர்ணகோ³சரீக்ரு’தவாந் அஸ்யா பா⁴வார்த²: க இதி வயம்’ ஜ்ஞாதும் இச்சா²ம: |
21 (Now all the Athenians and the strangers sojourning there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell or to hear some new thing.)
ததா³தீ²நீநிவாஸிநஸ்தந்நக³ரப்ரவாஸிநஸ்²ச கேவலம்’ கஸ்யாஸ்²சந நவீநகதா²யா: ஸ்²ரவணேந ப்ரசாரணேந ச காலம் அயாபயந்|
22 And Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus, and said, Ye men of Athens, in all things I perceive that ye are very religious.
பௌலோ(அ)ரேயபாக³ஸ்ய மத்⁴யே திஷ்ட²ந் ஏதாம்’ கதா²ம்’ ப்ரசாரிதவாந், ஹே ஆதீ²நீயலோகா யூயம்’ ஸர்வ்வதா² தே³வபூஜாயாம் ஆஸக்தா இத்யஹ ப்ரத்யக்ஷம்’ பஸ்²யாமி|
23 For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. What therefore ye worship in ignorance, this I set forth unto you.
யத: பர்ய்யடநகாலே யுஷ்மாகம்’ பூஜநீயாநி பஸ்²யந் ‘அவிஜ்ஞாதேஸ்²வராய’ ஏதல்லிபியுக்தாம்’ யஜ்ஞவேதீ³மேகாம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்டவாந்; அதோ ந விதி³த்வா யம்’ பூஜயத்⁴வே தஸ்யைவ தத்வம்’ யுஷ்மாந் ப்ரதி ப்ரசாரயாமி|
24 The God that made the world and all things therein, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
ஜக³தோ ஜக³த்ஸ்தா²நாம்’ ஸர்வ்வவஸ்தூநாஞ்ச ஸ்ரஷ்டா ய ஈஸ்²வர: ஸ ஸ்வர்க³ப்ரு’தி²வ்யோரேகாதி⁴பதி: ஸந் கரநிர்ம்மிதமந்தி³ரேஷு ந நிவஸதி;
25 neither is he served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
ஸ ஏவ ஸர்வ்வேப்⁴யோ ஜீவநம்’ ப்ராணாந் ஸர்வ்வஸாமக்³ரீஸ்²ச ப்ரத³தா³தி; அதஏவ ஸ கஸ்யாஸ்²சித் ஸாமக்³ய்ரா அபா⁴வஹேதோ ர்மநுஷ்யாணாம்’ ஹஸ்தை: ஸேவிதோ ப⁴வதீதி ந|
26 and he made of one every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, having determined [their] appointed seasons, and the bounds of their habitation;
ஸ பூ⁴மண்ட³லே நிவாஸார்த²ம் ஏகஸ்மாத் ஸோ²ணிதாத் ஸர்வ்வாந் மநுஷ்யாந் ஸ்ரு’ஷ்ட்வா தேஷாம்’ பூர்வ்வநிரூபிதஸமயம்’ வஸதிஸீமாஞ்ச நிரசிநோத்;
27 that they should seek God, if haply they might feel after him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us:
தஸ்மாத் லோகை: கேநாபி ப்ரகாரேண ம்ரு’க³யித்வா பரமேஸ்²வரஸ்ய தத்வம்’ ப்ராப்தும்’ தஸ்ய க³வேஷணம்’ கரணீயம்|
28 for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain even of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
கிந்து ஸோ(அ)ஸ்மாகம்’ கஸ்மாச்சித³பி தூ³ரே திஷ்ட²தீதி நஹி, வயம்’ தேந நிஸ்²வஸநப்ரஸ்²வஸநக³மநாக³மநப்ராணதா⁴ரணாநி குர்ம்ம: , புநஸ்²ச யுஷ்மாகமேவ கதிபயா: கவய: கத²யந்தி ‘தஸ்ய வம்’ஸா² வயம்’ ஸ்மோ ஹி’ இதி|
29 Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and device of man.
அதஏவ யதி³ வயம் ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய வம்’ஸா² ப⁴வாமஸ்தர்ஹி மநுஷ்யை ர்வித்³யயா கௌஸ²லேந ச தக்ஷிதம்’ ஸ்வர்ணம்’ ரூப்யம்’ த்³ரு’ஷத்³ வைதேஷாமீஸ்²வரத்வம் அஸ்மாபி⁴ ர்ந ஜ்ஞாதவ்யம்’|
30 The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent:
தேஷாம்’ பூர்வ்வீயலோகாநாம் அஜ்ஞாநதாம்’ ப்ரதீஸ்²வரோ யத்³யபி நாவாத⁴த்த ததா²பீதா³நீம்’ ஸர்வ்வத்ர ஸர்வ்வாந் மந: பரிவர்த்தயிதும் ஆஜ்ஞாபயதி,
31 inasmuch as he hath appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
யத: ஸ்வநியுக்தேந புருஷேண யதா³ ஸ ப்ரு’தி²வீஸ்தா²நாம்’ ஸர்வ்வலோகாநாம்’ விசாரம்’ கரிஷ்யதி தத்³தி³நம்’ ந்யரூபயத்; தஸ்ய ஸ்²மஸா²நோத்தா²பநேந தஸ்மிந் ஸர்வ்வேப்⁴ய: ப்ரமாணம்’ ப்ராதா³த்|
32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked; but others said, We will hear thee concerning this yet again.
ததா³ ஸ்²மஸா²நாத்³ உத்தா²நஸ்ய கதா²ம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா கேசித்³ உபாஹமந், கேசித³வத³ந் ஏநாம்’ கதா²ம்’ புநரபி த்வத்த: ஸ்²ரோஷ்யாம: |
33 Thus Paul went out from among them.
தத: பௌலஸ்தேஷாம்’ ஸமீபாத் ப்ரஸ்தி²தவாந்|
34 But certain men clave unto him, and believed: among whom also was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
ததா²பி கேசில்லோகாஸ்தேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ மிலித்வா வ்யஸ்²வஸந் தேஷாம்’ மத்⁴யே (அ)ரேயபாகீ³யதி³யநுஸியோ தா³மாரீநாமா காசிந்நாரீ கியந்தோ நராஸ்²சாஸந்|
