2 Samuel 24
1 And again the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.
௧யெகோவாவுடைய கோபம் திரும்ப இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் வந்தது. இஸ்ரவேல் யூதா என்பவர்களை எண்ணிக்கை பார் என்று அவர்களுக்கு எதிராகச் சொல்லுகிறதற்கு தாவீது தூண்டப்பட்டான்.
2 And the king said to Joab the captain of the host, who was with him, Go now to and fro through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the sum of the people.
௨அப்படியே ராஜா தன்னோடு இருக்கிற தளபதியான யோவாபைப் பார்த்து: மக்களின் எண்ணிக்கையை நான் அறியும்படி நீ தாண்முதல் பெயெர்செபா வரையுள்ள இஸ்ரவேலர்களின் கோத்திரங்கள் எங்கும் சுற்றித்திரிந்து மக்களைக் கணக்கெடுங்கள் என்றான்.
3 And Joab said unto the king, Now Jehovah thy God add unto the people, how many soever they may be, a hundredfold; and may the eyes of my lord the king see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?
௩அப்பொழுது யோவாப் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: ராஜாவான என் ஆண்டவனுடைய கண்கள் காணும்படி உம்முடைய தேவனான யெகோவா மக்களை இப்பொழுது இருக்கிறதைவிட, நூறுமடங்கு அதிகமாகப் பெருகச்செய்வாராக; ஆனாலும் என் ஆண்டவனான ராஜா இந்தக் காரியத்தை விரும்புகிறது என்ன என்றான்.
4 Notwithstanding, the king’s word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.
௪ஆனாலும் யோவாபும் இராணுவத்தலைவர்களும் சொன்ன வார்த்தை செல்லாமற்போகும்படி, ராஜாவின் வார்த்தை பலத்தது; அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களைக் கணக்கெடுக்க, யோவாபும் இராணுவத்தலைவர்களும் ராஜாவைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய்,
5 And they passed over the Jordan, and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the middle of the valley of Gad, and unto Jazer:
௫யோர்தான் நதியைக் கடந்து, காத் என்னும் ஆறுகளின் நடுவே இருக்கிற பட்டணத்திற்கு வலதுபுறமான ஆரோவேரிலும் யாசேரிடத்திலும் முகாமிட்டு,
6 then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim-hodshi; and they came to Dan-jaan, and round about to Sidon,
௬அங்கேயிருந்து கீலேயாத்திற்கும் தாதீம்ஒத்சிக்கும் போய், அங்கேயிருந்து தாண்யானுக்கும், சீதோனின் சுற்றுப்புறங்களுக்கும் போய்,
7 and came to the stronghold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites; and they went out to the south of Judah, at Beer-sheba.
௭பிற்பாடு தீரு என்னும் கோட்டைக்கும் ஏவியர்கள், கானானியர்களுடைய எல்லா பட்டணங்களுக்கும் போய், அங்கேயிருந்து யூதாவின் தென்புறமான பெயெர்செபாவுக்குப் போய்,
8 So when they had gone to and fro through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
௮இப்படி தேசமெங்கும் சுற்றித்திரிந்து, ஒன்பது மாதங்களும் இருபது நாட்களும் ஆனபிறகு எருசலேமிற்கு வந்தார்கள்.
9 And Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
௯யோவாப் மக்களைக் கணக்கெடுத்த தொகையை ராஜாவுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; இஸ்ரவேலிலே பட்டயம் எடுக்கத்தக்க யுத்தவீரர்கள் 8,00,000 பேர் இருந்தார்கள்; யூதா மனிதர்கள் 5,00,000 பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.
10 And David’s heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in that which I have done: but now, O Jehovah, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
௧0இவ்விதமாக மக்களை எண்ணிப்பார்த்த பின்பு, ராஜாவின் இருதயம் அவனை நோகடித்தது; அப்பொழுது தாவீது யெகோவாவை நோக்கி: நான் இப்படிச் செய்ததால் பெரிய பாவம் செய்தேன்; இப்போதும் ஆண்டவரே, உமது அடியானின் அக்கிரமத்தை நீக்கிவிடும்; நான் பெரிய முட்டாள்தனமான காரியம் செய்தேன் என்றான்.
11 And when David rose up in the morning, the word of Jehovah came unto the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying,
௧௧தாவீது காலையில் எழுந்தபோது, தாவீதின் ஞானதிருஷ்டிக்காரனான காத் என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசிக்குக் யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தை உண்டாகிச் சொன்னது:
12 Go and speak unto David, Thus saith Jehovah, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.
௧௨நீ தாவீதிடம் போய், மூன்று காரியங்களை உனக்கு முன்பாக வைக்கிறேன்; அவைகளில் ஒரு காரியத்தைத் தெரிந்துகொள், அதை நான் உனக்குச் செய்வேன் என்று யெகோவா உரைக்கிறார் என்று சொல் என்றார்.
13 So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thy foes while they pursue thee? or shall there be three days’ pestilence in thy land? now advise thee, and consider what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
௧௩அப்படியே காத் தாவீதிடம் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய தேசத்திலே ஏழு வருடங்கள் பஞ்சம் வரவேண்டுமோ? அல்லது மூன்று மாதங்கள் உம்முடைய எதிரிகள் உம்மைப் பின்தொடர, நீர் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக ஓடிப்போகவேண்டுமோ? அல்லது உம்முடைய தேசத்தில் மூன்று நாட்கள் கொள்ளைநோய் உண்டாக வேண்டுமோ? இப்போதும் என்னை அனுப்பினவருக்கு நான் என்ன பதில் கொண்டுபோகவேண்டும் என்பதை நீர் யோசித்துப் பாரும் என்று சொன்னான்.
14 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of Jehovah; for his mercies are great; and let me not fall into the hand of man.
௧௪அப்பொழுது தாவீது காத்தை நோக்கி: கொடிய பிரச்சனையில் அகப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்; இப்போது நாம் யெகோவாவுடைய கையிலே விழுவோமாக; அவருடைய இரக்கங்கள் மிகப்பெரியது; மனிதர்கள் கையிலே விழாமல் இருப்பேனாக என்றான்.
15 So Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed; and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.
௧௫அப்பொழுது யெகோவா இஸ்ரவேலிலே அன்று காலைதுவங்கி குறித்தகாலம்வரை கொள்ளைநோயை வரச்செய்தார்; அதினால் தாண்முதல் பெயெர்செபாவரையுள்ள மக்களில் 70,000 பேர் இறந்துபோனார்கள்.
16 And when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough; now stay thy hand. And the angel of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
௧௬தேவதூதன் எருசலேமை அழிக்கத் தன்னுடைய கையை அதின்மேல் நீட்டினபோது, யெகோவா அந்தத் தீங்குக்கு மனவேதனையடைந்து, மக்களை அழிக்கிற தூதனை நோக்கி: போதும், இப்போது உன்னுடைய கையை நிறுத்து என்றார்; அந்த வேளையில் யெகோவாவுடைய தூதன் எபூசியனான அர்வனாவினுடைய போரடிக்கிற களத்திற்கு நேராக இருந்தான்.
17 And David spake unto Jehovah when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father’s house.
௧௭மக்களை வேதனைப்படுத்துகிற தூதனை தாவீது கண்டபோது, அவன் யெகோவாவை நோக்கி: இதோ, நான்தான் பாவம் செய்தேன்; நான்தான் அக்கிரமம் செய்தேன்; இந்த ஆடுகள் என்ன செய்தது? உம்முடைய கை எனக்கும் என்னுடைய தகப்பன் வீட்டுக்கும் விரோதமாக இருப்பதாக என்று விண்ணப்பம்செய்தான்.
18 And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
௧௮அன்றையதினம் காத் என்பவன் தாவீதிடம் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் போய், எபூசியனான அர்வனாவின் களத்திலே யெகோவாவுக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடத்தை உண்டாக்கும் என்றான்.
19 And David went up according to the saying of Gad, as Jehovah commanded.
௧௯காத்துடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே தாவீது யெகோவா கற்பித்தபடி போனான்.
20 And Araunah looked forth, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
௨0அர்வனா பார்த்து: ராஜாவும் அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர்களும் தன்னிடம் வருகிறதைக்கண்டு, அர்வனா எதிர்கொண்டுபோய் தரைவரைக்கும் குனிந்து ராஜாவை வணங்கி,
21 And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor of thee, to build an altar unto Jehovah, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
௨௧ராஜாவான என்னுடைய ஆண்டவன் தமது அடியானிடத்தில் வருகிற காரியம் என்ன என்று கேட்டதற்கு, தாவீது: வாதை மக்களைவிட்டு நிறுத்தக் யெகோவாவுக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டும்படி இந்தக் களத்தை உன்னுடைய கையிலே வாங்க வந்தேன் என்றான்.
22 And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, the oxen for the burnt-offering, and the threshing instruments and the yokes of the oxen for the wood:
௨௨அர்வனா தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: ராஜாவான என்னுடைய ஆண்டவன் இதை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, தம்முடைய பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடி பலியிடுவாராக; இதோ, தகனபலிக்கு மாடுகளும் விறகுக்குப் போரடிக்கிற உருளைகளும் மாடுகளின் நுகங்களும் இங்கே இருக்கிறது என்று சொல்லி,
23 all this, O king, doth Araunah give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, Jehovah thy God accept thee.
௨௩அர்வனா அவை எல்லாவற்றையும் ராஜாவுக்குக் கொடுத்தபின்பு, அர்வனா ராஜாவை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய தேவனான யெகோவா உம்மிடம் கிருபையாக இருப்பாராக என்றான்.
24 And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will verily buy it of thee at a price; neither will I offer burnt-offerings unto Jehovah my God which cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
௨௪ராஜா அர்வனாவைப் பார்த்து: அப்படியல்ல; நான் இலவசமாக வாங்கி, என்னுடைய தேவனான யெகோவாவுக்கு சர்வாங்கதகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்தாமல், அதை உன்னுடைய கையிலே விலைக்கு வாங்குவேன் என்று சொல்லி, தாவீது அந்தக் களத்தையும் மாடுகளையும் ஐம்பது சேக்கல் நிறைவெள்ளிக்கு வாங்கிக்கொண்டான்.
25 And David built there an altar unto Jehovah, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings. So Jehovah was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
௨௫அங்கே தாவீது யெகோவாவுக்கு ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டி, சர்வாங்கதகனபலிகளையும் சமாதானபலிகளையும் செலுத்தினான்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவா தேசத்துக்காகச் செய்யப்பட்ட வேண்டுதலைக் கேட்டருளினார்; இஸ்ரவேலின் மேலிருந்த அந்த வாதை நிறுத்தப்பட்டது.
