Psalms 94
1 LORD, you God to whom vengeance belongs, you God to whom vengeance belongs, shine out.
Dieu des vengeances, Éternel, Dieu des vengeances, apparais!
2 Rise up, you judge of the earth. Pay back the proud what they deserve.
Lève-toi, juge de la terre, rends aux orgueilleux un salaire!
3 LORD, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph?
Jusques à quand les impies, Éternel, jusques à quand les impies seront-ils triomphants?
4 They pour out arrogant words. All the evildoers boast.
Ils profèrent, ils vomissent des discours violents, et tous les méchants se glorifient.
5 They break your people in pieces, LORD, and afflict your heritage.
Éternel, ils écrasent ton peuple, et humilient ton héritage;
6 They kill the widow and the alien, and murder the fatherless.
ils égorgent la veuve et l'étranger, et mettent à mort les orphelins;
7 They say, “The LORD will not see, neither will Jacob’s God consider.”
puis ils disent: « L'Éternel ne le voit pas, et le Dieu de Jacoh n'y prend pas garde. »
8 Consider, you senseless among the people; you fools, when will you be wise?
Prenez-y garde, vous, les plus stupides des hommes! et vous, insensés, quand aurez-vous la sagesse?
9 He who implanted the ear, will not he hear? He who formed the eye, will not he see?
Celui qui a planté l'oreille, n'entendrait-Il pas? Celui qui a formé l'œil, ne verrait-Il pas?
10 He who disciplines the nations, will not he punish? He who teaches man knows.
Celui qui fait la leçon aux peuples, ne punirait-Il pas, lui qui instruit l'intelligence de l'homme?
11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile.
L'Éternel connaît les pensées des hommes; Il sait qu'elles sont un néant.
12 Blessed is the man whom you discipline, LORD, and teach out of your law,
Heureux l'homme que tu instruis, Éternel, et que tu enseignes par tes leçons,
13 that you may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked.
pour le calmer en face des jours mauvais, jusqu'à ce que la fosse soit creusée à l'impie!
14 For the LORD will not reject his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
Car l'Éternel ne délaisse point son peuple, et n'abandonne point son héritage;
15 For judgment will return to righteousness. All the upright in heart shall follow it.
car les jugements rentreront dans la justice, et tous ceux qui ont le cœur droit, la suivront.
16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?
Qui est-ce qui prend mon parti contre les méchants? Qui est-ce qui m'assiste contre les artisans du mal?
17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul would have soon lived in silence.
Si Dieu n'était mon aide, bientôt mon âme habiterait le séjour du silence.
18 When I said, “My foot is slipping!” Your loving kindness, LORD, held me up.
Si je dis: Mon pied chancelle; alors ta grâce, Éternel, vient me soutenir.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.
Dans les mille anxiétés de mon cœur, tes consolations restaurent mon âme.
20 Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with you, which brings about mischief by statute?
Te ferais-tu l'allié d'une tyrannie funeste qui complote la ruine en dépit de la loi?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
Ils se liguent contre la vie du juste, et ils condamnent le sang innocent.
22 But the LORD has been my high tower, my God, the rock of my refuge.
Mais l'Éternel est mon rempart, et mon Dieu, mon rocher de refuge.
23 He has brought on them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. The LORD, our God, will cut them off.
Il leur paiera le salaire de leur crime, et par leur malice même Il les détruira, Il les détruira, l'Éternel, notre Dieu.
