Psalms 82

1 A Psalm by Asaph. God presides in the great assembly. He judges among the gods.

Cantique d’Asaph. Dieu se tient dans l’assemblée du Tout-Puissant; au milieu des dieux il rend son arrêt:

2 “How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?” (Selah)

« Jusques à quand jugerez-vous injustement, et prendrez-vous parti pour les méchants? — Séla.

3 “Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.

« Rendez justice au faible et à l’orphelin, faites droit au malheureux et au pauvre,

4 Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.”

sauvez le misérable et l’indigent, délivrez-les de la main des méchants.

5 They do not know, neither do they understand. They walk back and forth in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

« Ils n’ont ni savoir ni intelligence, ils marchent dans les ténèbres; tous les fondements de la terre sont ébranlés.

6 I said, “You are gods, all of you are sons of the Most High.

« J’ai dit: Vous êtes des dieux, vous êtes tous les fils du Très-Haut.

7 Nevertheless you shall die like men, and fall like one of the rulers.”

Cependant, vous mourrez comme des hommes, vous tomberez comme le premier venu des princes. »

8 Arise, God, judge the earth, for you inherit all of the nations.

Lève-toi, ô Dieu, juge la terre, car toutes les nations t’appartiennent.
